Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks- Week 4

Sorry, Kbells. Auburn isn’t playing this week. But something new this week: The Pillow Fight of the Week, in which two of the FBS (Div. 1-A) with the worst records go head to head the see who can actually win a game. This week we go to Idaho for a match with two winless teams: Temple at Idaho. And also, the team with the longest losing streak visits Idaho to play Boise State! That’s right, Southern Mississippi joins the fun in Idaho this week, bringing its 15 loss streak with it. I’ve also included three games involving Top 25 teams playing against each other, as well as both Army and Navy.  Lots of upset possibilities this week.

#12 South Carolina @ UCF — For Chas.

Navy @ Western Kentucky — For us Navy fans. Say it with me: Go Navy…!

Wake Forest @ #3 Clemson — Wow! A Tiger team in 3rd that isn’t Auburn or LSU. What’s this world coming to?

#6 LSU @ #9 Georgia — Speaking of Tigers, how about a Cat and Dog fight?

#14 Oklahoma @ #22 Notre Dame — The Sooners go North. Maybe they can win in South Bend as payback for last year when the Irish won in Norman.

Army vs. Louisiana Tech — For AJ. Say it with me folks – Go Navy…! 😉

#21 Ole Miss @ #1 Alabama — For Kim. Should be a good game to watch, except I’ll be watching something else (see below).

Southern Miss @ Boise State — For Mumsee. So the Broncos can play on Saturday.

Pillow Fight: Temple @ Idaho — All the losers in Idaho. Two will win.

Tie Breaker: Arizona @ #16 Washington Wildcats vs. Huskies. Another Cat and Dog fight. And on national TV!!! Thank you FOX for letting me see my Cats play!

    Clemson
    Georgia
    Oklahoma
    Army
    Alabama

    Temple
    Arizona 21-17

It would be better for me to go with Kbell’s picks, but here are my picks for what little my 100% guessing is worth!

  2. Gamecocks
    W. Kentucky
Clemson . No one expects the Deacons to win, I see.
LSU, The Bulldogs beat SC, but I don’t think they’re that good.
    The Irish.
Army. I don’t know anything about La. Tech.
    Boise
Temple overIdaho. Just a wild guess here.
    Arizona 14, Washington 24.

  3. My picks:
#12 South Carolina — No surprise in this one. Chas’s favorite USC wins!

    Navy — Go Navy…!

#3 Clemson – Does Clemson have a chance at a National Title? Sure does.

#9 Georgia — Only because of the home field. And I don’t think they’ll let a second Tiger team beat them.

#14 Oklahoma – The “Sooner” someone beats ND the better. Oklahoma in another close one.

Army – Okay, so Army gets one win.

#1 Alabama — I could cop out and say the team in red will win, but though Ole Miss beat Texas at Texas, I don’t think they’ll do it twice. So I pick the other team in red, Crimson, that is.

Boise State – Yawn. BSU in a blow out.

Pillow Fight: Idaho — Which one wants to win more than the other? Idaho, because no one ever thinks of the other state university in Idaho. And they play this one at home.
    .
Tie Breaker: Arizona @ #16 Washington — Though I look forward to actually getting to watch Arizona play, I think they’ll lose this one, since they always have trouble with those Oregon and Washington teams, especially when the game is up North. WU 24-21

  5. Everybody’s picking South Carolina. I hope you’re not disappointed.
I checked on UCF. They are undefeated and have beaten Penn State.
Gamecocks almost blew a four touchdown lead against Vanderbilt.
It appears that there ain’t no safe lead.

  6. Hubby dissed my football knowledge in a manner most chauvinistic, so I challenged him. Here are Hubby’s picks if he is allowed to play.

  7. Washington 31-17….Sorry Peter L.!!!

I guess I need to apologize to myself since I, too, predicted a U of Washington win. I just made it a 3 point game.

Oh, and I think I may be wrong on the abbreviation for the University of Washington. You think I would remember that there is a Washington University about 150 miles from here in St. Louis. So it is WU, and Seattle has UW.

  8. kbells- Your hubby is welcome to join us, as long as you aren’t trying to win either way. I don’t want any virtual high fives going to cheaters.

  9. I just noticed I forgot to post a deadline, for those of you still thinking about joining. SC-UCF play at 12 noon EDT Saturday, so that’s the cutoff time.

  10. I could get Elvera to make some picks, but she thinks they play too rough, are not gentlemen and get their clothes dirty. Have you noticed that they don’t get their clothes dirty anymore. It used to be shameful to leave a game with a clean uniform?

  11. KBells,

Since the 2 of you live together, you could award an actual prize. If he wins, you buy him coffee. If you win, he does the same for you. If neither of you win, you buy The Kid coffee. 🙂

    What? 😯

You’ll never learn if you don’t suffer consequences. Should you both lose, having your child amped up on caffeine should motivate you both to make better picks in the future. 🙂

  12. Thank you, Ricky.

Kbells- Don’t worry if neither of you wins overall, just take AJ’s suggestion if you do better than he does or vice-versa.

  13. Ooh! It looks like the outsider won this week, no matter what the result of the late game (Boise State). Mr Kbells and I are tied with 8 correct games, and both of us picked Boise State. So, since his tie breaker score was closer than mine (11 off vs. 15), he wins. It looks like he not only gets the virtual HIGH FIVE, but kbells owes him a coffee (or whatever they decided).

    So congratulations to Mr kbells!

Oh, and for the second week in a row, inbutnotof predicted one of the tiebreaker team scores exactly. How does he do it?

  14. If the Gamecocks play like they did in the third quarter yesterday, they could beat Bama or A&M. If they play like they did in quarters 1,2 & 4, they will lose to Kentucky.

    😦
The weirdest game I’ve ever seen..

  15. As I said, Gamecocks scored all 28 points in the third Q. with the exception of the first play of the 4th. If they play like that, they could beat Oregon, or “Bama or A&M.

I just hope they don’t lose to the Wildcats.

  16. And I hope the PAC-12 Wildcats beat Oregon, and any other conference foe. Besides Washington, since they lost last night. Of course, there is the conference championship. Then again, the way the offense played last night, they won’t get far in the PAC-12.

  17. Uh-oh. I just noticed that I missed Rickyweaver’s entry in the tally. He, too got 9 out of 10. It doesn’t change the final winner, since his tiebreaker was 15 like mine.

Sorry to have forgotten you, Ricky.
