Prayer Requests 9-24-13

Who would you like us to pray for today?

Psalm 40

¹ I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear.Burnt offering and sin offering  you have not required.

Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me:

I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”

I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O Lord.

10 I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.

11 As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!

12 For evils have encompassed me beyond number; my iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!

14 Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt!

15 Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”

16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!”

17 As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!

  1. I would appreciate prayers for rain. The creek where we get our ram water that we use for toilets, etc. is going dry and many water tanks are very low.
People in the area are burning their fields and it is very smoky.

  2. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for today and all the days that led up to this day Your creative hand put each day’s dawning within our own lives and within the lives of our ancestors. Without Your protection over them, we would not be here today.

I ask You this day for a provision of rain in PNG where Jo is. They recognize that You have control over the rain and if You only say the word, the clouds will move and the rain will fall. I pray that is within Your will for this day. Your word indicates we don’t have because we don’t ask. Well, Lord, we are here asking and hoping in the name of Jesus for the needed provision of rain.

Lord, I also lift up Dr. Henry Blackaby and his family. You know all their needs for this day. Please watch over them all and give a blessed outcome for his surgery and recouperatiin. Thank You for the miracles of Your watchful care You have already given to him. May the watching world be in awe of Your amazing methods of provision. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. Heavenly Father,

I lift up this woman that Kim has told us about. As You gaze into that hospital room and see and hear the prayers of desperation over this one who has been lost for so long, I pray that You will release a great outpouring of grace and mercy. Infuse her before her dying breath with the blood of Jesus covering all her sins. Please, Abba, save her soul from eternal damnation and give her the gift that can only come from You. Your word Instructs that You want all to be saved so we are asking at this late moment for Your salvation to be accepted and acknowledged by this sin sickened soul. In the name of Jesus, Amen

  4. An elderly widow around 90 years of age who is my cousin had a man break into her home in the evening last week and knocked her down and dragged her through the house and supposedly attempted rape. Really, really bad news. Please pray for her. The man is in custody. I don’t think the story has been in the news yet. Maybe that is pending further investigstion. This happened in south Georgia.

  5. Sad to hear, Janice. I had a relative kept hostage and assaulted over a period of time. Horrible. Prayers for this poor woman. God have mercy on her assailant that he might repent.

  6. Hard day today. I could use some general prayer support. Today is also the anniversary of the day one of my dear friends went home to the Lord, I just remembered. Reading Mumsee’s post made me think of her because she was such a source of support to us, praying and speaking encouraging words to me when our younger son was experiencing such extreme fear of restrooms (and other things) for several years. He would scream horribly when he saw one of our family members go into a public bathroom (he was not only afraid of using any bathrooms other than at home, but he was frightened when his loved ones used them, too). Anyway, my friend saw this happen at church one day, and in her quiet, gentle way, she just laid her hand on my arm and said what a good job we were doing with our son.

Tears then and now. I sure do miss her. 😦
