Prayer Requests 8-15-13

Who has a request or praise to share today?

Psalm 3

1 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

  1. I put this prayer request late on yesterday’s thread:

“This is an early prayer request for tomorrow. First Arrow (oldest son) leaves early tomorrow morning, making a one-hour trip to the home of one BIL of mine, and from there will be riding with said BIL to the home of another BIL, who lives approximately 8 hours away. Requesting prayers for safe travels tomorrow, for the return trip on Monday, and for any extra driving they do in between times.

Same request for Second Arrow, as she leaves here tomorrow, returning to her present home two hours away.

And one more prayer for Fifth Arrow, who has a very difficult time with transitions. Although he probably won’t be awake when First Arrow leaves tomorrow, it might be hard for him when he realizes his big brother is not here. Telling him ahead of time will almost certainly cause problems, but it’s less likely to be problematic if we say nothing beforehand, as his brother is gone a lot, anyway, though he lives at home.

The hardest thing for Fifth Arrow will be having Second Arrow leave tomorrow. She went to visit a friend of hers today, and 5th Arrow was almost inconsolable when she was leaving, thinking she was going back home. It took a lot of convincing that she was only going into town for a short time, and would be back in just a few hours. Tomorrow that will not be the case. Prayers for wisdom for us as we attempt to ease him through that transition as best we can. Thanks.”

Thank you to all of you who pray.

  2. Prayers requested this morning for Becca as she has her first appointment with a therapist. I’ve met with him three times and really like him. He’s a devout Christian, very kind, loving, patient and has an engaging personality. I think she will like him. He’ll be working with her on developing coping skills for those times she feels overwhelmed by her emotions. The goal is to reduce the frequency, duration and intensity of her tantrums by replacing them with healthy coping skills. She has her appointment from 10-10:45 CST. Prayers are greatly appreciated!

  3. Asking for more prayers for Jenn. She’ll be in the hospital for two or three days. She has large abscesses in her tummy, & will need a drain for about a month. It seems every time she has surgery, & even often between surgeries, she develops an abscess or two.

She is so weak & so tired & discouraged, having suffered greatly over the past five years. Her recent rejoicing was over gaining two lbs., to put her up to 100 lbs., which gives you a picture of how fragile & weak she is.

  4. Praying for Becca as her appointment is drawing to a close, Ann, and for steady progress afterward. Also, further prayers for Jenn, Karen. Wow, 100 pounds. That’s quite low, no matter how tall she might be. I will pray for her physical and emotional strengthening.

Thank you for all who prayed for my arrows I mentioned. Both 1st and 2nd Arrows are on their way now to their respective destinations. Fifth Arrow was hanging around in his brother’s vacant room this morning (he was not awake when big brother left), and is not at this time having any difficulty with 1st Arrow’s absence. However, as predicted, he did cry when saying goodbye to 2nd Arrow this morning. He did not experience nearly as much emotional upheaval at her leaving today, though, as he did yesterday upon her temporary departure. Watching her go yesterday for a time probably helped some, a sort of “inoculation”, if you will.

But I know the power of prayer avails much. God be praised, and thank you, all, for praying.

  5. I have exchanged a few emails this morning with Mumsee. As I read one I kinda zoned out for a minute and thought “I will get my friends on the blog to pray for my friend Mumsee” and then I zoned back in and realized you all know her and she is your friend too. (Have a mentioned I haven’t gotten enough sleep recently?)

So here is the reminder to pray for the Nest today and one person in particular. 😉

  6. Kim, I pray for Mumsee (and you and others- I can’t go naming names) every day. But Mumsee is very cryptic about what is happening. All I know is that:
A 15yr old boy (S. I presume) started a rumour about Idaho Mike.
A lot of restrictions and investigations occurred because of that.
It is an ongoing problem, but what happens is not clear.
I am praying that God will intervene, take control, and make it work for good.
    That’s all i can do.

  7. That is all any of us can do right now Chas. Idaho Mike is on my mind a lot and I feel like we need to lift him up in special prayer. After all, he is the one that has been accused and isn’t able to live at home.

  8. Prayers, Mumsee.

Thank you to all who prayed for Becca today. Just wanted to let y’all know that her first visit went very well. She really liked the psychologist and asked when she gets to go back! He made her feel safe and comfortable. They worked on developing coping skills for times she feels overwhelmed by her emotions. Then, we raced home to pick eldest up from a riding lesson, thinking she’d be waiting on us. When we arrived, she was still mounted, cooling him down. I was bummed b/c it takes another 30 minutes of cleaning the horse once she’s off him before she’s ready to leave and it was HOT!!! Anyway–we’re home now and Becca is happily playing with a friend down the street. I need to finish the bookshelves (but would much rather type on the computer!).

Karen: I’ll remember Jenn in my prayers. It must be difficult to know she’s suffering so.

  9. This is minor compared to the above, but I’m asking anyway. Due to a friend’s unexpectedly hostile reaction to an email, I feel very unsettled & upset in my spirit. I have to get a reasonably good night’s sleep to babysit tomorrow, so please pray my mind & spirit will calm & settle down by bedtime. (I often mull these kinds of things over instead of going to sleep.) Thanks.

  10. Ann, how old is Becca? We discussed therapy for the Kid with his doctor once. He warned us to be careful,. He said that once you bring in a therapist you run the risk of losing control of the situation.. I imagine he meant that a therapist could override you on decisions about the child.

  11. And didn’t mumsee also say that Mike’s staph infection was back? No wonder, with all this stress. But that’s another thing to pray for as well, everyone’s physical health as they go through this hard time.

  12. kbells: Becca is eight and a half. But, I trust this therapist. We used him with older daughter a couple of years ago when she was having organizational issues at school. His work is behaviorally focused–not analytical. So, he’s helping her with coping skills while educating us about proven techniques used with kids with her temperament.
