  2. Everytthing about Spring is my favorite. The time changes, the weather is wonderful, the flowers are blooming, and the list goes on. Summer in the South can be brutal but I try not to complain. I may try to convince Cal to close the office today due to the weather. What I would really LOVE right about now would be to sit on the beach, soak up the sunshine, and just BE.

  4. Another lesson learned about country living: How to get your gas dryer converted to propane.
Oh, wait, we HAVEN’T learned that lesson yet; after 4 weeks of calling around, ordering parts (we were told to order but are the wrong ones), scheduling a serviceman (who called 5 minutes before he was supposed to come yesterday to say it wasn’t actually something he could do), and unreturned calls from the propane supplier, the dryer still sits unconnected.

  5. I love walking out on a spring morning and seeing all the trees in bloom and how the sun colors the air in a special way for the season. It is the season of pastels, gentle colors that are easy on the eyes. The spring greens of newly budding trees only last a short time. I hope I can have some time to be outside and enjoy the freshening up of the outdoor world. God is a great “outerior” decorator!

  6. Good morning. My favorite thing about spring is the warmer weather. We generally have beautiful weather this time of year. Highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s, lows in the upper 50’s. Lots of sunshine. Summer’s are brutal here in Houston — three digit temperatures and extremely high humidity. I also love spring because it means that soon my children will be out of school for the summer. Which means, no more driving around like a crazy woman to all of the lessons in the evenings. We take a break from all lessons during the summer (except oldest’s horseback riding), and I really enjoy the freedom from schedules. Besides, with my kids now in public schools, summer gives me a respite from worrying that they are being indoctrinated by humanistic philosophies. So, while I enjoy spring, I must admit that despite the heat, summer is my favorite season!

  7. What spring? It’s -32C with windchill this morning and winter storm warning to the west of us. 😦

When spring finally does get here, I always enjoy the greening of the deciduous trees – it softens the hard edges of the last few months.

  8. I’m working on this story about a guy who’s researched the stories of about 200 ucla students who never came back from WWII. Just going over the documents and copies of handwritten letters from parents, etc., is so poignant.

So off to it, plus my turn to make cop calls. Two more people from our closest sister paper have announced recently that they’re out of there, they’re migrating south by about 50 miles to work at another newspaper that is (in a rarity these days) hiring.

  9. AJ, I actually asked the guys last night if electric was an option but they said not because we don’t have the power for it. We’re putting an apartment in the basement so all the appliances in the house are doubled up and they said I could have an electric dryer or an electric stove, but not both. The stove won.

  10. Spring in Colorado…the Bluebirds return! And daffodils begin to emerge. But, we’re so not there yet! Winter storm warnings for this weekend….7 inches of snow predicted beginning Friday night. Snow Saturday, Sunday and Monday…perhaps a foot of the white stuff before it’s all over……we need the moisture…we don’t like fires….we live in the Forest…so….Moisture would be my favorite part of Spring…by default :-)….oh…and I throw out lots of wildflower seeds…and the more moisture…the better the bounty

  11. Spring — a lovely time of year to have babies. 🙂 My first four arrows were born within a 3-week period from late April to mid May. You can take your newborn babies outside for lots of fresh air that time of year. New birth is all around you, in nature and in your arms.

    I’m waxing sentimental. 😉

  12. Fishing. That’s my favorite thing about Spring.

I don’t ice fish, so from Nov. until March I don’t fish. But now that Spring is here, it’s time to put new line on and sort thru my tackle box to see what needs replacing. I’m looking forward to it.

And flowers are nice too, and all the return of green and color to the world. After the drabbiness of Winter, it’s a good thing. 🙂

  13. Linda Shaffer,
I would recommend http://www.partselect,com. I called this morning to ask if they have the conversions kits, and they do. I have ordered parts for our washer, my mom’s washer, etc and have always got the right part within 3 days. All you need is the model number to the appliance. We also live in a rural area and cannot even get a repairman to come. We had to change out the orifices on our cook stove from propane to natural gas. It was an easy fix we did ourselves. I hope this helps you. If you would rather talk to a live person the # is 888-895-1535.

  14. rkessler65, I just tried them and it’s a no-go. Even though the manual that came with the dryer lists a conversion kit as a part, it has no part number and your place said that Kenmore has not provided them with one, either. I think I am going to take it back and buy one from a local appliance store that will convert it prior to delivery. Thanks for the help, though.

  15. Let’s see if I can avoid dying from a stroke today (I am obviously very close) and avoid getting banished from here for insulting you know who should not be insulted (I am obviously on very, very, very think ice.)

I am studying all the religions of the world so I can find the one that is correct. Perhaps Tammy, or somebody, can tell me the correct one.

Today, I will start with Taoism. I won’t use any “bad” words. Here’s what I learned about Taoism.

    Taoism: **** Happens

Well, you know what they say about Chinese food. Same must apply to Chinese religion.

I was supposed to go see the doctor today. My wife said, we are going to have a West Coast style hurricane. I’m not driving today.”

I said, “Yes, dear.” We didn’t go.

I am looking out the window. It is almost the exact time I was supposed to be at the doctor’s. The sun is shining. There is no rain. Their is the slightest breeze, just barely stirring the fir tree branches. Well, it’s been 69 years and I am still alive (just one slight stroke), and it’s been 47 years and at least 25,000 “yes dears” and I am still married, and one daughter who married a woman and God (said most respectfully) has not struck me dead.

  17. Eleven year old, autistic, never going to read or do more than single digit addition daughter, just got home from passing the hunter safety course. Very pleased with her effort and the effort of the brother who went with her to help her understand the class for the nine days of class. (Chas, that would be our boy, S). Haven’t heard yet what the gangsta wannabe did.

  18. This sentence of mine from 11:01:54, “My first four arrows were born within a 3-week period from late April to mid May.” should probably have read, “My first four arrows celebrate birthdays within a 3-week period from late April to mid May.” I didn’t have quadruplets that took 3 weeks to all be born. 😉

(A few other things on my mind today, as you can tell.) 🙂

  19. He is doing a bit better tonight, Donna, coughing less, and without the moans and groans that always followed the coughs. He did say that he could have never gotten through work tonight if he’d gone. The day off tomorrow, too, will help get him farther down the road to healing before he goes back to work probably Friday. Thanks for asking.
