Life Matters 1-11-13

Public opinion continues to swing to the pro-life side.

From LifeSiteNews

“A new Marist poll conducted for the Knights of Columbus reveals that 83% of Americans favor significant limitations on what is now essentially abortion on demand. That is up 4 points from last year.”

“Nearly 6 in 10 Americans (58%) also believe abortion is “morally wrong.”  And in many ways perhaps most important of all, a full 84% of Americans say laws can protect both mothers and unborn children.”

““They understand abortion’s true legacy – a child loses life, and parents lose a child. And after witnessing the effects of abortion for the past 40 years, Americans are not legally or morally comfortable with that legacy. It is time for our country to chart a new course on this issue – a course that protects both the mother and the child.””

Let’s hope this trend continues.

And let’s hope this finally happens as well.

From TheHill

“Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) this week vowed to continue trying to starve  Planned Parenthood of federal funds after the group’s latest report showed it  performed a record number of abortions in its latest fiscal  year.

According to Black, Planned Parenthood’s latest report says the  group received $542 million in taxpayer funding, nearly half of the group’s  revenue. She said the group performed nearly 334,000 abortions in the last  fiscal year.

“As Planned Parenthood’s federal funds reached an all time high, so too did  the number of abortions it provided, while its real health services for women  continues to decline,” Black said. “This report underscores the pressing need to  cut off all federal funding for Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion  provider in America.”

UPDATE

Here’s another encouraging story.

From TheWashingtonExaminer

“The biggest crowds ever for the annual March for Life protest are expected to hit Washington January 25 as hundreds of thousands attend the 40th anniversary rally to protest the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, according to organizers.

The march, expected to attract tens of thousands more than the record 400,000 two years ago, could rival President Obama’s Inauguration Day crowd, propelled by the growing youth support of efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade, which the president has embraced with open arms. Obama drew 1.8 million in 2009. Just 600,000 are expected January 21st.

One critical sign of how big the march will be: Hotels pre-booked for participants sold out a month ago while many Washington hotels report lukewarm interest for rooms during the Inauguration. In 2009, hotels sold out months in advance as an excited nation readied to welcome the first black president.”

  1. AJ, You are overly optimistic. I would never trust this government to determine what is a “qualified mortgage” just as I would never trust it to determine who is “disabled”, be involved in any way in our children’s education, run Ponzi schemes (Social Security and Medicare), follow the Constitution, balance a budget, pass a budget or defend one of its consulates which is under attack.
