Prayer Requests 12-29-12

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 61:1-5

1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

  1. Please pray for my sister and her daughter, HG. HG has been struggling with some form of mental illness for a couple of years. Sister has scheduled psychological testing for HG while she is home from Africa for a month. Please pray the doctors will be able to get HG stabilized on the right medication before she has to return to Africa January 18. HG is resistant to treatment and is 18, throwing out “I’m an adult now. You can’t make me.” However, she spends 2 hours a day crying and isn’t functioning normally. She needs help. Please pray she gets it.

I’d also appreciate prayers for my brother, J, who is struggling with depression and isn’t a believer.

Prayer is needed for my mom as well. Her alcoholism continues to progress. Cocktail hour has been moved back from 5:00pm to 2:00 in the afternoon. Since she doesn’t get going until about 9:00 am, that means she has five hours of sobriety a day. It’s very sad to watch.

  2. Thanks for the prayers, Chas. HG has been living with relatives in the states for last six months. She is considering going to Africa on January 18. However, I also think this is a questionable decision, given her current mental state. I have offered to have her live with us, but would require her to be under the care of a psychiatrist. As I’ve said, she is resistant to treatment. Please pray for wisdom for her parents.
