Prayer Requests 11-20-12

What should we pray about today?

Psalm 113:1-3

1 Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord.

2 Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore.

3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.

  1. Our church deacon who is battling the brain cancer (Jeff) yesterday wasn’t able to move his right leg so he’s going in for an MRI today. He and his wife are set to leave for a mini weeklong getaway vacation to Paris on Friday, so pray that whatever is going on with the leg can be resolved. I know they were really looking forward to this trip. 😦 It’s been a rough several months for them since this tumor so unexpectedly invaded their lives.

  2. My friend, Jenn, with the severe stomach issues, needs another major surgery to remove a mass that is growing. Her surgeon may not want to do it. When I first told her story here, I mentioned that she has had at least 2 or 3 surgeries AFTER being told she could have no more surgeries (she’s had at least 10, I think).

If her surgeon does not want to do it, she will have to go to the Mayo Clinic.

Jenn is usually pretty upbeat despite her pain & restricted life, expressing her gratitude for her family & still being alive. But she told me that getting this news has her terrified.

Jenn & her parents are believers. In addition to praying for her physical concerns, please pray for her husband, & teenaged son & daughter to be drawn to God.

    Thank you.

  3. A friend’s husband, Richie, just had hip replacement surgery at Cleveland Clinic, but he has a raging infection. His temp has been hovering 103-105 and he’s been packed in ice several times. The antibiotics don’t seem to be working. They were going to do another surgery today to try to clean out the infection. Richie also has sickle cell disease which complicates things. He’s probably only around 45 years old. This is his second hip replacement.

  4. Update — MRI showed more swelling but the doctor has said there is a medication that can relieve the symptoms in the meantime. The plans for the trip are still in the air, but their insurance allows them to cancel right up to the flight time. From the wife’s email today on our prayer chain:

“Thursday is Thanksgiving and I had given it a back seat considering all that is going on – Jeff’s illness, packing for our trip, preparing for termite fumigation while we are gone, yes, we have termites too. But yesterday I started thinking more about Thanksgiving and what the Pilgrims went through. The Pilgrims were giving thanks after a long, cold winter when many of them had died. I asked myself what I was thankful for and I’ll repeat what I wrote yesterday – that we are objects of God’s love and not His wrath. … “
