Prayer Requests 11-14-12

Who should we pray for today?

Psalm 103:1-6

1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

  1. Requesting prayers as I seek to know whether the Lord would have me resume offering piano lessons to the general public, which I have not done for 9 years.

I got a call yesterday from a lady who was interested in starting her grandsons in piano with me (my name had been given to her by someone who did not know that I’ve only been teaching my own children, and not others’ since 2003). I’ve received calls like that in the years since I resigned, and have simply told the callers that I wasn’t currently teaching other children, and did not know when I would return to it.

This time is different, though, and I told the lady who called yesterday that I would think about it. The thought of resuming my teaching business had actually occurred to me recently because of the difficulty of making ends meet lately with some of the unexpected expenses we’ve had. My husband has been working very hard, trying to meet those expenses, and is getting tired; I want to try to take some of the stress off of him by helping to contribute to the family income, but neither of us are certain how good an idea that would be, given that we have so many family responsibilities with homeschooling and such (which is the reason I resigned from piano teaching in the first place), and that I am worn out, too. I don’t know if restarting teaching will revitalize me, adding some exciting variety to my life again, or if it will be one more thing to add to my plate that will wear me down further and/or interfere too much with meeting our family’s needs.

So your prayers for wisdom as we contemplate this, and for the energy to follow through with God’s will would be most appreciated.

  2. Heavenly Father,

It may be cold outside and for some cold inside because they are without power, but one thing is for sure, our hearts are warmed by the feeling of being loved by You. Thank You for that love that is never ending and never failing.

I pray for Your divine assistance to help restore the power to those still without due to the ravaging storm Sandy. Please lift up the discouraged who don’t know where to begin because so much needs to be done to get things back into working order. I pray for continuing resources to flow into ministries that are giving assistance. Lord, other stories have taken over the news, but to those still dealing with all Sandy left behind, they feel abandoned as the world seems to have moved on without them. Please help them. Please let us get our priorities right about what we focus on. Please do not let officials think a few photo ops are all that is needed to ease the burden. We cry out “Help these people, Lord!”

Abba, I lift up our sisters in The Gambia to You today for a special blessing of meeting their needs and energizing their ministry so that many hearts in the area are livened with knowledge of Jesus. Continue in Your efforts to allow Phos to grow in communication skills. Help her to be able to enjoy her food and drink without worry that she may get sick from it. Bless Ajisuun with joy from knowing she is making a difference with all she is involved in with this people group.

I pray for all those in other lands who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus and who must keep silent about their faith except for when they meet “underground” in hidden places. Lord, thank You that it hasn’t come to that here yet. Please keep safe those in Iran, Afghanistan, Africa, China and N. Korea and all other places known to You where people can face losing their life just for naming Jesus as Lord of their lives. I pray those people can receive Your word through resources or if necessary even through their dreams. You can supply however You desire, Lord, for You are able.

Please, Lord, help 6 Arrows and her husband as they make decisions that are life-changing not only to their family but also to other families they can bless by sharing their talents. Please show 6 Arrows how she can manage to take on additional responsibility when there are only limited numbers of hours in the week and energy supplies are dwindling. Please energize 6 Arrows and her husband so they feel encouraged when they look forward knowing they have what it takes for the long haul. I pray You would remove any hindrances that may be draining them of enthusiasm. Make a straight path for them with only fun bumps in the road and not daunting mountains to climb. Give enough challenge for spiritual growth, but not overwhelming and defeating challenges. Please also help Kbells and her husband with the difficult decisions regarding their situation.

Lord, I do pray for Random, that You would make an entryway into his heart for the Holy Spirit to draw him to saving faith in Jesus. He believes You to be a lot of malarky. Show him You are real. Make it undeniably apparent. Please give him those unexplainable happenings that can only be attributed to You, God. I pray for his daughter and her partner and their child. Help them all to be looking in on the lighted path that Jesus shines on for each of them to travel upon to know the best life available to them. You are so good and I recognize Your ability to do this, Abba, so I call out to You, “Please!”

Please also work in the lives of all those we know who need Jesus. Please restore and revive our nation through vibrant faith in Jesus. I pray in His name, Amen
