  1. For those of you who prayed for me yesterday, thank you. It was a better day. I talked to Cal and we made a few changes.

Today I would ask for prayers for Chris. He is 16 and has been diagnosed with leukemia. He is at St. Jude’s. I don’t understand the thinking but his white count is so high they can’t go in full force with chemo. They are giving him a really low dose until they can start bringing down the count.
He is going to be there for 6 to 9 months at this time. Luckily, his mother’s company is making arrangements for her to do her job remotely and making sure what she can’t handle is covered by other employees. She will continue to draw her full salary. There are some really good people in the world. It is nice that she won’t have to worry about that and her ex-mother in law has moved in to take care of her other children.

  2. I’m praying for Chris and his family, also giving thanks that are businesses, like the one his mother works for, that promote a company spirit of decency and caring.

  3. Yesterday, I came across this quote from Henri Nouwen that I would like to share with the pray-ers in our WV family:

“A final characteristic of the prayer of the heart is that it includes all our concerns. When we enter with our mind into our hearts and there stand in the presence of God, then all our mental preoccupations become prayer. The power of the prayer of the heart is precisely that through it all that is on our minds becomes prayer. When we say to people, “I will pray for you,” we make a very important commitment. The sad thing is that this remark often remains nothing but a well-meant expression of concern…

Through prayer we can carry in our heart all human pain and sorrow, all conflicts and agonies, all torture and war, all hunger, loneliness, and misery, not because of some great psychological or emotional capacity, but because God’s heart has become one with ours.”
