What do you think of this?
From CBN
“Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition has now begun dropping their presidential voter guide into key battleground states.”
“They are sending this out to roughly 17 million social conservatives that they have identified in their extensive voter file. It is being delivered by mail, email, text message, to churches and door-to-door. When people receive the voting guide in the mail, they can scan the bar code into their smart phone where a video begins to play that sums up the candidates positions on the issues.”

Here’s an interesting read on polling.
“Which polls are, or aren’t, legitimate?”

I honestly don’t know anyone who has been discouraged enough to stay home and not vote because of the ‘predictions’ of a poll. I do know people who are sitting out this presidential election because they consider both candidates to be immoral and not worthy of a vote.

I fiond the juxtaposition between a Ralph Reed link to go and seen his website and decrying the polls as fascinating.
On Reed, his addiction to politics seems to get the better of him — I agree with this editorial from a local Alabama paper:
http://annistonstar.com/view/full_story/20281907/article-Reed%E2%80%99s-sordid-reputation–Intended-audience-of-his-message-should-take-lesson-from-Alabama?instance=home_opinion
The argument on the polls is nothing short of hilarious — right wingers are arguing that the “liberal media” is pumping up President Obama’s polls so that democrats will come out to vote — nonsensical. If people think their candidate is doing fine it tends to get them to be more apathetic and not vote. Conservative punditry is becoming most amusing. If folks didn’t take the right wing press machine seriously, it’d make for good comedy.

I remembered that Reed was connected with Jack Abramoff somehow, but I couldn’t recall the connection.

On the morning of November 7, all Americans will know that the future of the US is as a Socialist Sodom and that a clear majority of Northerners want it that way. Southern Christians will then need to thoughtfully consider their options.

CB, Your attack on Mr. Reed got me a little riled up, and I seemed to have returned the favor. I have actually been saving my post at 8:13 for an appropriate time. When I send you your beer on November 7th, Southern Christians will just be beginning to realize the reality of their situation. Then they will begin to consider their options, none of which are pleasant or without risk.

CB, when people use state stats to show the inferiority of the South they put us at a disadvantage. In most of the categories people are fond of using, certain minorities that the South has a higher percentage of, score much higher. This tends to raise the stats in the whole region. But we can not mention this without being considered racist, (which all y’all already knew we were) so we are pretty much stuck with making jokes about being fat because we are better cooks or pregnant because we are better looking.

Was Reed involved in the Abramhof scandal? Power corrupts. This is a thing conservative evangelicals seem to dismiss when entangling the church and faith in politics.
Kbells – really, all of the stats are someone else’s fault? Been to any towns that are mostly crackers?
LikeLike
Now I am willing to claim all my Southern brothers and sister regardless of race, girth or number of out of wedlock children but since the purpose of these stats is to show not the inferiority of the South in general but the inferiority of white, conservative, Republicans in the South, I just thought I would point all this out.
LikeLike
No, I’m just pointing out that the stats go a little deeper than “we’re better than you”. Funny how I would never be able to get away with using an equally derogatory word like “cracker”.

And CB, I have been to some very disagreeable places all over the country. Most of them were not in the South.

I go to church and work in a town that is almost 100% “Crackers”. They love the US more than any other group does. On November 7, many will finally begin to realize that today’s US is not the country of their youth and we are not the people our grandparents were. If I were in my twenties, I would take my family to Chile, Poland, Hong Kong, somewhere away from this Socialist Sodom. My neighbors, the Crackers, are not likely to choose that option.

Coyote,
Uh, yeah. See here’s the thing that Dems and folks like yourself seem to have missed. They aren’t pointing out the numerous weighted polls for the reason you allege. You may find it funny, and if you were right, I would too. They aren’t saying the polls are biased to pump up Dems and get them out. In fact, they’re saying the opposite. The polls are biased to make it look like Obama is way ahead so that R’s get discouraged and stay home. R’s are the ones who will lead the turnout numbers this time around, not the D’s as in “08. That’s what the media wants, discouraged R’s. How do you accomplish this? By unfairly weighting the D/R/I numbers.
I’m surprised someone as smart as yourself missed that.
http://www.nationaljournal.com/2012-presidential-campaign/republicans-to-pollsters-too-many-democrats-in-your-surveys-20120925?page=1
“Many Republicans, however, think pollsters are wrong to assume their results, which in some cases mirror the 2008 electorate, are accurate.
“Far too many of the public and media polls have set their likely voter screens and models to something looking more optimistic than the 2008 turnout model,” GOP consultant Rick Wilson wrote in Sunday’s New York Daily News, “which even Obama’s most dedicated partisans think is highly unlikely.”
John McLaughlin, a Republican pollster and consultant to GOP candidates, told the conservative National Review last week that Democrats are lobbying media pollsters “to weight their surveys to emulate the 2008 Democrat-heavy models.”
“The intended effect is to suppress Republican turnout through media polling bias,” McLaughlin said.”
And this is a perfect example.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/09/26/quinnipiac-ignores-gop-enthusiasm-edge
“This morning, my colleague John Nolte pointed out the ridiculous Democrat turnout assumptions in Quinnipiac University’s latest poll for CBS/NYT. To believe Quinnipiac’s numbers, we’d have to believe that Democrat turnout will not only increase over 2008, but reach levels not seen in the modern political era. Quinnipiac’s own poll numbers put a lie to that assumption.
Quinnipiac’s poll purports to be a Likely Voter (poll), meaning it’s a poll of those most likely to show up on election day. It is entirely possible that a poll of Adults or even Registered Voters (RV) could have a heavy Democrat edge and still be fairly accurate. For an LV poll to have such a massive Democrat turnout, then Democrats must be fired up and ready to walk across broken glass to vote. And GOP voters must be looking for a rock to crawl under. But, Quinnipiac’s own poll shows the opposite is true.
In all three state polls, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, the GOP holds a clear edge over Democrats on voting enthusiasm. In PA, the GOP voter enthusiasm edge is almost 20 points. 45% of GOP voters say they are more enthusiastic about voting this year against 28% of Dems who are more enthusiastic. The GOP voter enthusiasm has increased 10 points since the beginning of August, while the Dem number is essentially unchanged.”
Now I’m laughing too. Because this is a joke.

CB,
Putting aside the pollster’s motives or lack of them, maybe you could just consider a thoughtful analysis such as this one from Jay Cost. The argument that many of the polls give Obama a better edge than they should is plausible, whether the pollsters themselves are intentionally favoring Obama or whether they are simply mistaken with some assumptions behind their polls.

CB, There are exceptions, but there are fundamental differences now between the world views of Southerners and people in New England and on the West Coast. These show up in dramatic differences in:
1. Church attendance;
2. Belief in the Bible;
3. View of Abortion;
4. Attitudes about the practice of Christianity in public schools;
5. Views on the crime and punishment, including the death penalty;
6. Views on same sex marriage;
7. Views on the role of government.

I’ve been waiting for the voter fraud topic to come up. A moderate friend of mine opposes voter id on the grounds that it does disenfranchise certain disadvantaged groups.
Adults without valid photo id, from the highest percentage to the lowest:
Blacks – 25%
Asians – 20%
Latinos – 19%
18-24 year olds – 18%
Seniors – 18%
Earning less than $35K – 15%
All – 11%
Whites – 8%

What he says he meant was it will eliminate fraud and allow Romney to win a fair fight. But yeah, he’s a bonehead. And since he’s a Rebub, you hear all about it. Obama and Dem’s numerous slip ups, not so much.
http://www.politicspa.com/turzai-voter-id-law-means-romney-can-win-pa/37153/
““We are focused on making sure that we meet our obligations that we’ve talked about for years,” said Turzai in a speech to committee members Saturday. He mentioned the law among a laundry list of accomplishments made by the GOP-run legislature.
“Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.””
““Rep. Turzai was speaking at a partisan, political event. He was simply referencing, for the first time in a long while, the Republican Presidential candidate will be on a more even keel thanks to Voter ID…Anyone looking further into it has their own agenda.””
And I can tell you as a Pa. resident that the only ones upset by it are Dems. Much like the Romney % comment. The voters I talk to from both parties aren’t at all concerned with such gottcha crap. They have one. Jobs. Pa. will be closer than you think.
