  1. Morning! Slightly cooler and we may finally see spits of rain tonight. Some areas in the state especially around the fires have seen storms…our turn next?

  2. I hope it is rain, minus lightening. We have had so many fires started by lightning. It was in the sixties here yesterday and such a relief. Back up to seventies today and then progressively getting too hot for me. We did have some rain, which gave us fresh air after too many smoke-filled days. It does remind me to be grateful to God for even the air I breath.

  3. Tomorrow will be our family day. I do not feel well. Please pray for stamina and for God to navigate a path through it all for me as I have no energy for the events. I think we have a nice service planned and we made great effort to get the word out. I am good with background things but all the face time tomorrow is tough when I feel well.

Son is trying to come up with a eulogy and Art is doing a program which I wrongly assumed would be done by the funeral home. I am trying to have good nutrition today and rest. Please continue to pray us through this♡

  4. We just had a nice rain!! To hear thunder and to see water in this forest brings tears to my eyes! How thankful we are!

Janice I get overwhelmed for you at the thought of interacting with so many people. Praying for His strength to hold you up as you meet with so many family and friends.

I guess I didn’t realize paying a Pastor to preside at a funeral was a thing. But I suppose it makes sense because we do pay them to preside at a wedding. The pianist usually has a set rate… we paid 300.00 for the pianist at a wedding…she only played here comes the bride and there goes the bride! The church Pastor charged 300.00 but waived his fee since our Pastor was presiding… and we paid him 300.00

  5. When we got married, my pastor did the ceremony. My husband offered him money and he said he didn’t accept money for parishioner weddings, but we could give money to the church if we wished, and I think my husband did so. And we paid two guest musicians (strings), but friends (husband and wife) were our wedding coordinator and pianist, and they said it was their wedding gift to us. We gave them a generous restaurant gift card in a thank-you card. (They had also hosted my husband for a few days every time he came to town, and each time he left a gift card, usually to a grocery store, as a thank you.)

  6. Janice, when is the service and any other events that are planned. I would like to be praying during those times especially.

    Blessings,

  7. Prayers for sure. I’m sure you will be glad when it is over. It would be that kind of thing for me. I have also been surprised at some things funeral homes no longer seem to do. Newspapers, too, for that matter, such as writing obituaries.

  8. Obituaries for famous people get written by the newspaper, but everyday obits have always been written by family as far as I know. I regret that we didn’t have one for my mom; we had too much to do in three or four days, with all of us traveling across the country to be there. But a mother of seven should have an obituary.
