Thankful for the gift of friends…praying friends. He knits us together for a purpose and I was blessed to be in the midst of my praying friends. I gained some understanding of the difficult days I find myself in knowing we aren’t the only ones facing the pain of false accusations from an adult offspring. I now include those enduring this in my prayers. I thank you all for covering us in prayer.
Praying for the child who says she is not my child…for her clarity of thought and heart in all matters that she might be healed. For the person whispering lies into her ear to be removed….
Praying for your brother Janice and for you as you continue to walk alongside…strength for the day as He promises.
Praying with you, NJ. I just watched a video on FB where a therapist spoke about how memories can be so different for a child and a parent. Both may be correct because of emotional state of being, which is what cements our memories. It hurts so much when our child cannot seem to be reached.
Therapists concern me. The words this girl says I spoke to her are absolutely false. My closest friend of forty years has been by my side as we raised our children…she knows me and my interactions with my children. She is saddened by the complete change in demeanor and personality of this girl. My friend is also walking a painful path with one of her children and we sit numb at the situations we now face. I do know who is the father of lies and the accuser…and destroyer…😢
Sometimes the best we can do is to listen and not be triggered into an angry reaction. Lies are not to be affirmed in any way but can be listened to out of respect for the one believing them and acknowledged to the extent that you believe that the person believes that as truth. I think I always come to the conclusion that we all have blind spots and holes in seeing the whole picture. God is the only One who knows all and sees all. I think my brother and I saw a lot of things differently based on him requiring more care and attention. I felt more neglected but understood the necessity. I could have been bitter and accusing, but God softened my heart. I hope God can soften your daughter’s heart, NJ, about anything that therapist led her to believe that was false.
I’ve probably shared too much about this journey so will refrain from sharing anything further. It is painful to be on the receiving end of false accusations and others believing they may be true. Thank you for prayer covering
Oh, NJ, I think it came out wrong what I said. I can’t think clearly these days. I am sure you did nothing wrong. You know the truth. I don’t have a clue as to the accusations so I have no place to say anything. I was mostly spouting off about how it was in my family and why siblings might see differently. Please forgive me any hurt I might have caused.you. We are all going through such rough times these days.
My dear Janice no apology needed…I know your heart and I do so appreciate your careful weighing of the troubles we all face time to time. My pain is raw and when it is suggested that parent and child may both be right depending on their experience it hurts. I know what our home was like and how I interacted with my children. I was not a perfect mother but I cherished my kids. I only wanted the best for their lives. Venomous words spoken from a child with whom I thought I had a good relationship with is numbing. She is like a different person I do not recognize.
I am confident the Lord will walk the path with us and give us insight and direction. I don’t know what the future looks like and now it seems impossible for a relationship with her but He knows what the future holds and I will lean on Him.
I am sorry, NJ, that I distressed you. I, obviously, did not explain well what the therapist was getting at. I had no thought, whatsoever, that you did not know how you treated your child. It seems to be the trend to make accusations of abuse these days and there are all kinds of people who encourage this, including some therapists.
