“Stephen Miller: “At the beginning of this administration, we asked every state, red and blue, to share with us their voter rolls so we could scrub it against the DHS file of illegal aliens to remove illegal aliens from their voter rolls.

Every blue state refused. California refused. Minnesota refused. New York refused. In fact, they sued us to stop us from removing illegal aliens from the voter rolls, removing non-citizens from the voter rolls.

But that’s not the only thing. They don’t even want to get dead people off the rolls. They don’t want to get felons off the rolls. They don’t want to get out-of-state voters off the rolls. They don’t want to get double and triple voters out of the count. Because they want the fraud.

This is the most important issue, Sean, because the Biden administration brought 20 million illegal aliens into this country and this is the way, the only way, to keep them from participating in our sacred democratic process.””

  3. VDH nails it again.

    https://x.com/i/status/2035004163969675353

“Victor Davis Hanson has spent fifty years studying how wars end. When he says the tide is turning, it’s worth listening to why.

His argument isn’t based on what the Pentagon is saying. It’s based on how everyone else is behaving.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀. VDH’s rule: Europeans never agree to go anywhere near a conflict unless they think the winning side has already been determined. They didn’t help in the early days. Now they’re starting to move. That movement is not idealism. It’s a calculation. They’ve looked at the battlefield and decided which way this ends.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼-𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The Saudis, the Emiratis, the Qataris — these governments have survived for generations by reading the regional climate with precision. When they expel Iranian military attachés, when they intercept Iranian missiles over their own capitals and say nothing about American strikes, when the UAE reaffirms its $1.4 trillion investment commitment to the United States mid-war — they are not making ideological statements. They are placing bets. And they are betting on the United States.

𝗔𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗮. This is the one that should stop you cold. Al Jazeera — the Qatari state media network, historically critical of American military action, the network Tucker Carlson and the anti-war right love to cite against Israel — is now calling the U.S. bombing campaign brilliant and effective, and saying it has been underestimated. When the media outlet of a nation that hosts both the largest American air base in the Middle East and a Hamas political office starts praising American military effectiveness, the message is unmistakable: 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘯.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹. A-10 Warthogs and Apache helicopter gunships are now flying strike missions in Iranian airspace at will. VDH’s point: you only deploy those aircraft when there is effectively no air defense left to threaten them. They are slow, low-flying, close-support platforms. Their presence confirms what the Pentagon has been claiming — Iran has no meaningful air defense remaining.

Iran’s strategy now is rope-a-dope. Run out the clock. Wait for American public opinion to shift. Hope the midterms create political pressure on Trump to stop. It is the only play they have left.

VDH’s conclusion: if Trump sees it through — and he believes he will — the regime falls. Not in years. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻.”

“According to the Wall Street Journal, citing multiple U.S. officials, Iran has targeted the joint U.S.-UK base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean with two intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBM). According to the report, one missile failed in flight whilst the other was engaged by a U.S. destroyer utilizing an SM-3 interceptor, but a successful interception was not confirmed. None of the missiles hit the base. This is notable as Iranian long-range precision fires have not previously been publicly assessed as having the range to hit such a target as Diego Garcia, as the base is some 4,000 kilometers from Iran proper.”

Uncovered the other day in one of our spending bills making its way through Congress was a $1 million earmark from Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, which was an earmark that was supposedly going to a substance abuse clinic. Which actually happened to be housed in a restaurant and run by three individuals that share the same residential address according to their IRS paperwork. Tons of red flags””

  6. VDH is annoying and I thought his neo-con approach to foreign policy was cosigned to the dustbin given its failure in Iraq and Afghanistan

The European interest in the current conflict is solely in the Straits and the movement of tankers. Its the only thing that unites them right now. Some countries like the UK are more supportive of Trump while others like Spain will have nothing to do with the US/Israel. There is no European consensus on the conflict. However, Trumps’ alternating between insulting and begging hasn’t helped. Trump has the world’s largest naval fleet yet he needs the EU to open the straits? Clearly the risks are too high. The Europeans understand this and are in all likelihood discussing with the Iranians (in back channels) how to open the Straits. They will not get involved in the actual conflict.

The Gulf States along with Saudi Arabia have a long-running rivalry with Iran for regional power status. The US has been supporting the Saudi side for decades. This is nothing new nor are the Gulf States placing bets on the winner — they picked a side decades ago.

People misunderstand Al Jeezera. It operates at arm’s length from the Qatari government. It operates as probably the most impartial news source in the Arab region. Citing the military effectiveness of the US bombing campaign is not placing bets or revealing a bias, its simply factual. The US is militarily effective — that’s well known, the question is about the political exit strategy and what are the objectives. Is regime change the exit strategy? Last night Trump suggested they were close to obtaining their objectives and were winding down. But what objectives. The Iran regime hasn’t been changed and appears to be stronger or at least more reactionary

Iran’s strategy has been simple this entire time — defensive measures coupled with punishing their regional rivalries. The idea of a rope a dope, run out the clock and wait to the mid-terms is an American framing for domestic consumption. The Iranians see very little difference between Republicans or Democrats – both parties support Israel. The Iranians will continue to throw out drones to military infrastructure in the Gulf and leverage the Straits to gain diplomatic and financial concessions elsewhere.

In a 15 minute call with MS NOW anchor Stephanie Ruhle, President Donald Trump said Iran was about two weeks away from having a nuclear bomb and that Tehran intended to use it. He told Ruhle the United States struck hard and removed that imminent threat. The President described the strikes as having obliterated key nuclear capabilities and said Iran would need many years to rebuild the infrastructure that was targeted

  11. Two weeks from a nuclear bomb doesn’t make sense. Both the US and Israel said they obliterated Iran’s nuclear facilities over a year ago. But now they are a fortnight away from nukes? Was he lying a year ago or is he lying now? UK, US and other intelligence leaks have confirmed that Iran was nowhere near nuclear capabilities. The only source that Trump could be using right now would be Israeli. Bibi has been saying Iran is weeks away from nuclear weapons for over a decade — its a well known meme on the internet. Iran did not have nuclear capabilities.

Diego Garcia is a legitimate military target – the US was using the UK base for bombing runs. Iran has also targeted the British base in Cyprus for the same reason. For all Trump’s whining about the British and Stramer, they are letting the US use their bases — putting themselves at risk and ruining Starmer’s political career.

For the last two weeks, US officials have said they have destroyed Iran’s ability to wage war yet Iran is still launching missiles and drones.

The fact Iran possesses intermediate missiles did not make them an imminent threat. The missiles can’t reach the US. The North Koreans have more ability to strike the US, as do the Russians, and if they wanted the French, British, etc. Even with nukes, they don’t threaten the US. They don’t even threaten Israel — as it has over 90 nuclear bombs and the capability to destroy Iran. Any attempt to bomb Israel will invite mutual assured destruction or the Samson option.

  12. Iran is a regional power and has no interest in Europe. The EU and NATO have never presented a threat to Iran or vice versa. Any missile threat in either direction is purely imaginary but still war gamed. And thus there is a plan if the unlikely event occurs.

A quick Google search tells me that the UK, France, and Italy have their own navy based missile defence system. The Germans are leading a continental land based missile defence system which is focused on Russia as the main threat (but it would still notice an incoming strike from Iran)

Missile intercept systems are relatively new since the Cold War doctrine rested on MAD (Mutual Assured Direction). Once Cold War doctrines became out-dated, the Europeans started to developing systems to protect against rogue authoritarian regimes – like Russia and Iran. The US disregarded MAD slightly earlier (Reagan/Bush era) but focused their missile interception in North America and in their naval fleet. Thus, neither the US nor Europe are doing each other favours — both are aware of rogue regimes and have acted accordingly.

  14. You break it, you fix it. Why should the Europeans do anything — the straits were fine until the US/Israel decided to start a war.

“contribute” isn’t defined. In fact, the straits are not closed to Japan — Iran has said ships not allied to Israel or US can come and go, Japan has been included in that list. The NY Post article is all over the place — my impression is various countries are trying to exert pressure on Iran, while Iran is tying to get countries to price oil in yuan and not side with the US. Meanwhile, Trump posted that if the straits are not fully opened in 48 hours he will start bombing power plants. It doesn’t look like Trump is waiting for European “contributions” or the admin realizes Iran will leverage the straits for economical and political gain.

Reminds me — the US is lifting sanctions on Iranian oil in order to bring the price of oil. That’s bizarre — lifting sanctions while at war with a country; a bit desperate.

Kathleena — you’re right I should rephrase that — I find VDH ‘s opinion and that of any neo-con annoying. I can’t say that about him personally. However, neo conservative foreign policy is an outdated failure and doesn’t take into account the changes of the last 25 years even in some thing as simplistic as drone use.

  22. “We fixed it by breaking it.” — What does that even mean? The US didn’t fix anything. There was nothing to fix

I do thank Trump, rather sarcastically, when I fill up my car paying an extra 50 cents a liter for gas in less than a month.

Weird to call the Europeans cowards — the US has their fleet sitting right outside the Straits yet won’t go in. Like the US, Canada’s oil doesn’t come through the straits yet we are both paying far more for gasoline today than a month ago.

Iran would never have laid mines nor disrupted shipping if the US/Israel hadn’t attacked Iran. The straits are actually safe for shipping if ….. you follow Iran’s rules and get insurance. T

“We can break it, not fix it” — now that I look at it, this an admission of weakness — the US is like a bull in a china shop — can break just about anything but not very good at fixing problems it causes.

Europe (and Canada) has paid their fair share (and aren’t cowards). NATO has only invoked article 5 once — after 9/11 to invade Afghanistan. There are European and Canadian dead who went there to defend the US — still waiting for JD to say thank you. NATO is a defensive alliance — not an alliance to clean up after US mistakes and failures.

In terms of “fix it” — this is bizarre, in order to alleviate gas prices, the US will lift sanctions on Iran and allow them to sell up to 14 billion dollars of oil. This is more money than Obama released for his treaty with Iran. Lifting sanctions on a country you are engaged in a war is just bizarre. And might explain why Israel bombed the Iranian gas fields — they don’t want Iran to have leverage.

  23. I have nothing against voter ID — we have it here. However we make it really easy to register and ID is simple. Almost every adult files a tax return (even if you make zero income you qualify for credits if you file) and you simply check a box for voter registration. A voter card will be sent to your house, you take it along with a photo ID (everyone has a provincial health card) and you vote. If it was this simple in the US, then yes nobody should complain but its not…..

In the US , there’s no central voter data base — because its done state by state (which invalidates the SAVE Act anyway). You don’t have universal health cards. Sure most have a driver’s license or some other ID which should suffice but….. there’s the odd requirement that photo ID match your birth certificate. Why not match the photo ID with your voter registration? In the end, the extra requirement purposely disenfranchises married women.

I find the photo ID for can deposit return bizarre — says something about the economy and the tax base.

Ketamine therapy was big and cutting edge about 5-10 years ago and Musk was all over it. I didn’t think much of it (its basically a horse tranquilliser ) However, what LSD was in the 60s and 70s and Ecstasy was in the 90s and 00s, ketamine was in the 10s and 20s. Musk was all over it extolling its virtues especially for depression and anxiety. He also used it recreationally especially when in Germany to open a Tesla plant. He was enjoying Berlin’s famous night club scene high on ketamine — at one point he was refused entry to Berghain often rated the best “club” in the world.
