“A reminder that a vast majority of the millions who crossed the border illegally during the Biden administration were lining the pockets of cartels like CJNG, paying thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of $ per head to be smuggled into the Unites States. Color coded cartel wristbands littered major crossing areas, as cartels organized their human cargo by indicating who had already paid them.
A 3+ year free for all – with the cartels earning billions, easily attracting customers with the promise that the US government would release them into the country if they paid the cartels to get them across, and that’s exactly what the Biden administration did in the majority cases with mass catch & release policies.
And this doesn’t account for the cartels’ drug smuggling revenue.”
Patel is legendary for using taxpayer money for personal reasons, including flying his girlfriend everywhere. And I’m not sure what the FBI is doing in a hockey dressing room……
The National Post is a right wing rag owned by an American company. The CBC is just reporting the obvious — there was an increase in Cdn travel to Mexico and a decrease to the US. Even if politics wasn’t involved, the currency exchange made Mexico cheaper. Apparently Cdn travel to the US is down 25% but to Mexico up 10%. I imagine others decided Cuba and DR were better alternatives.
For family reasons, I prefer Europe, which once you get there is cheaper than North America.

“A great meeting with some of Italy’s most influential business leaders in the beautiful and historic Camparino in Milan’s Galleria. Thanks to Luca Garavoglia for hosting me, @FBIDirectorKash, and Ambassador to NATO @MattWhitaker46. Cheers to growing the US-Italy economic relationship together!”
“Great visit with the Milan Joint Operations Center, a 24/7 interagency operation with international partners to support the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. Nearly 100 US Government personnel have been surged to support the Olympics since the start of 2026 – with lessons we’ll take into the FIFA World Cup later this summer.
Thank you to Consul General Benning and the entire US Consulate Milan team for hosting – as well as DSS, FBI CIRG, and President Trump’s interagency teams for working around the clock to secure this incredible event”
The US hockey team victory was a special moment – no need to make a mountain out of a molehill just b/c FBI Director Patel was celebrating with them. It only makes it more special…
TDS? Trump? We’re talking about Patel not Trump… stay focused
I mentioned Patel has been slammed for his use of a gov’t jet for personal uses. After all the DOGE cuts, I’m surprised he has a jet, you’d think the gov’t would want to keep spending under control or even the optics clean.
Nobody is denying he went to Italy for gov’t work. Both the private and public sector have been timing conferences to coincide with major sporting events for decades. Its normal for the elites. But why not fly commercial, first class would be fine. If the Cdn head of the RCMP went to these meetings, I’m sure he/she didn’t fly in their own jet.
Nobody is giving Patel a hard time for attending the game. Again, I’m sure outside of family members, the place was probably full of private and public sector elites so why not. The issue people have is his intrusion into the dressing room to celebrate with the team, thereby politicising what should have been a celebratory occasion.
Connor Hellebucyk played the game and tournament of his lifetime; one of the best goal-tending performances ever. Jack Hughes scored the winning goal. But the pictures we see — Patel drinking with the Tkachuk brothers. The winning team spirit/unity destroyed because somebody needed to be part of a celebration where he didn’t belong. And I would say this if a Cdn politician would be drinking beer with the Cdn had they won — it’s just not the right time.
Meanwhile, the UK police arrested one more member of the elite in relation to the Epstein files. Norway also arrested a former PM and a royal prince. The Europeans getting things done while Republican political leaders drink beer. Sure, Patel or Bondi wouldn’t be personally leading an investigation but the optics are horrible.
If you paid teachers more and made it a more prestigious and admired profession, would students with higher SATs become education majors?? In countries where teaching is well paid and prestigious, it does attract higher academic students. Just a matter of appropriate incentives.
As long as there has been generational divides, people have been criticising the next generation’s education ability. Over 30 years ago, I had friends in academia criticising their first year students as the dumbest yet and wondering what they learned in high school. Read Socrates; he goes on for pages about the decline of youth.
Chromebooks, iPads, etc were seen as a quick fix and elixir. They should have been considered a tool in the same way as a pencil or typewriter. The push to use technology was much bigger in North America than in Europe. The Scandinavian school systems were far more reluctant and the Finns became famous for their education success despite the lack of technology and standardised testing. Perhaps its not the tech or the test but the advanatages Scandinavian youth have — better health care, parents with job security, well fed, etc
The issue people have is his intrusion into the dressing room to celebrate with the team, thereby politicising what should have been a celebratory occasion.
‘People’ need to get over it. It’s not politicising, it’s celebrating together as Americans. When President Trump called into the locker room, it was awesome, and the guys loved it.
In the TV age, US politicians have been going into the victors’ locker rooms since going back to when Pres Nixon went into the Texas Longhorns locker room in 1969 after their natl. championship (see clip – Lord’s Prayer included!).
