The release and (mis)handling of the Epstein files is an issue that hopefully won’t go away. The continued attempt to redact some names but reveal others is an issue. Just release the files with all the names except the girls ……
I’ve seen two emails in which the sender thanks Epstein for the young cute girls yet the sender’s name is redacted. There’s no reason for this. It’s clear Bondi is hiding for some while trying to use the files for partisan purposes. Bondi’s appearance to Congress the other day was laughable. And her refusal to acknowledge the victims compounds her problematic approach. Both Patel and Blanche support this approach refusing to investigate further. Patel stated under oath that only Epstein trafficked in girls is highly contestable and he really should resign if not be charged with perjury.
Meanwhile, while some people wish to point fingers in a partisan manner, the national security issue isn’t even raised. Its quite clear that Epstein blackmailed people — it would explain his wealth and clients. However, we can’t be sure if its only financial blackmail. The American academic, political and business elite were all involved — did Epstein use his knowledge and probable video/pictures to help foreign governments or certain domestic interests. Both the Israeli (Maxwell’s dad worked for Mossad) and Russia have been raised as possibilities. The current farce at the DOJ seems to be deliberately ignoring this.
As for why Biden/Harris didn’t release it; I’ve heard two explanations. One, the Maxwell case was still going through the courts and Second, they respected the independence of the DOJ. Not sure how legitimate the explanation is but it’s puzzling because if they had released the files, Harris would probably be president.
Inflation rate — inflation in North America has been in decline since mid 2024. In the post Covid supply shock, both Canada and the US had lower inflation rates than Europe. Currently, Europe actually has lower inflation than North America. Canada has a problem with food inflation which is twice as high as core inflation hence we have higher inflation than Europe but why does the US have higher inflation than the EU? Some areas of the EU are below 2%
The issue with inflation is of course what basket of goods do you use and politically does the average person think its accurate. Core inflation is down mainly because of slightly lower energy prices but food prices continue to climb. The grocery store sticker shock is still there.
Gerrymandering should be illegal but I’ve heard people here defend it as a state right issue so…….
