Good morning from 30° Atlanta bracing for a lot colder Saturday and Sunday along with powder snow. We have had “winter weather” for three weekends in a row.
Inquiring minds want to know. Sorry for the delay. I got busy and forgot to check in. It is the natural entrance to Mark Twain Cave. When the temperature gets below freezing, we get fog in the cave because of the 52° inside. When warm air meets cold, fog develops. It happens in summer also, but is not noticeable outside the cave. When it gets as cold as it’s been (below zero over the weekend), the natural entrance looks like a chimney as the warmer air rises out of the cave, and the tree above it turns white with ice.
FYI to M – Yes, I still work there. Let me know when you’re near and I’ll see about giving you a tour. This time of year it might be private, as we get few visitors in January and February.
I guess I never thought about the cave having a natural opening. Thanks, Peter. I hope you get to log in soon.
I am sad for all those down south who have to put up with all this cold. That has to be difficult for so many, not to mention those to whom it has been deadly. 😦
A beautiful morning here. The deer came through along with squirrel and our fox Sweetie. Snow melting but still plenty in the meadow. That is interesting to learn Peter. I’ve only attempted caves once and it didn’t go well…photos must suffice and even then I find myself holding my breath!😁

If you didn’t know, that was Peter. I’m on our new computer and WordPress wouldn’t log me in.

Headed to the Midwest in late June. I’ll let you know what my plans work out to be, Peter.
Thanks,

Oh, I did it again. Perfectly innocent keystroke in another program I use all the time, WordPress seems to interpret as “post 20 times”. Sorry, folks.
