  1. I will weigh in on the use of the word retarded etc. since it was brought up. Frankly, Kizzie, I was surprised with all the stories brought up that it was what you focused on. I have learned to filter out the garbage like that out or I would not be able to read many opinions on the internet that differ from mine.

I would never use that word and was surprised years ago to hear my nephew use that word. He was not referring to his sister, who would have probably been referred to by that term years before she was born. I was surprised his parents allowed it to be used. This was long before the birth of our own precious granddaughter who does have Down Syndrome.

I have a friend who is a certain nationality. She is offended by a common word used here to refer to those with that nationality. To her it is the same as the “N” word. My husband is the same nationality, as are many others I know. None of them are offended by that term, nor do they consider those who use it as using it derogatorily. Perhaps the term was used in the way years ago. I remind my husband to not use that term around her. I found her explanation of why she dislikes it interesting and don’t use the term myself. However, I will not assume others are using it to offend.

I, myself, am far more offended by those who are creating chaos, theft and all those other things in those articles. I haven’t heard your opinions about those. It did seem you questioned, on the prayer thread, whether some of us would pray for the actual truth about what is happening. It made me sad you would question that, but it is what it is.

I would assume none of us like the term and use it. But that’s me.

  2. Well said, Kathaleena. I don’t think I have used that word since we were taught not to back in high school. I love Down Syndrome people and follow some on Facebook because they have the infectious joy to share with a needy world. I have listened to conversations my friend has with her 40 y/o DS nephew as she drives. I treasure those calls and talk to him some myself. I hope what I wrote yesterday in no way made you feel badly. I love the photos you post of your blessed family.

  3. In Minnesota, it’s clear that Frey and Walz condone fraud and choose to accept illegal aliens. They each swore oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution, and by refusing to enforce federal laws, they are openly and admittedly in violation of that oath.

Until Minnesota is in compliance with constitutional federal law, all federal funds must be withheld, until compliance is achieved. This means that (1) illegal aliens must be captured and permanently deported, (2) fraud must be identified and citizen perpetrators must be prosecuted, (3) government officials found to be complicit and/or on the take must be permanently removed from office and prosecuted at the federal level (b/c the funds were federal tax monies).

  4. It would be nice for many if the fraud were only in MN. It seems not to be so, however.

Janice, no, I was not offended. DS persons have all the emotions we all have. Believe me, I have seen my precious one have temper tantrums, anger and sadness like all my other grandchildren. She has her own personality like they all do. I am glad I do not have to see her as a group, but as an individual. Don’t we all want that, whether we are thinking about ethnic make-up or what chromosomes we happen to possess?

  5. Absolutely, Kathaleena. I still remember a young man, from way back in my former church, named Stan. He had DS and was a ray of sunshine on Sunday mornings. He had a brother and I don’t remember his name at all.

Thanks, Tychicus, for your post and stating clearly how things should logically work.

  6. Frey Doubles Down After Trump Says He’s ‘Playing With Fire’

Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey responded to President Donald Trump’s criticism over his refusal to assist with federal immigration enforcement.

Trump asserted that Frey was “playing with fire” after Frey met with White House border czar Tom Homan in Minneapolis Wednesday.

Following the meeting, Frey said he “made it clear” to Homan “that Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws, and that we will remain focused on keeping our neighbors and streets safe.”

    On Wednesday, Frey doubled down.

“The job of our police is to keep people safe, not enforce fed immigration laws. I want them preventing homicides, not hunting down a working dad who contributes to MPLS & is from Ecuador. It’s similar to the policy your guy Rudy had in NYC. Everyone should feel safe calling 911,” he wrote on X.

James O’Keefe and his crew infiltrated an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis and found a chaotic scene where press were treated like enemies. Team members say they were chased, hit with thrown objects, teargassed, and forced to retreat after being labeled federal agents. They also report death threats and being followed from one location to another, with people inside the autonomous zone checking identities and no police presence to keep order. That is not reporting, that is a risky sting operation in real time.Who The Activists Admitted Is Funding Them

On hidden camera, protesters and organizers allegedly named a network of nonprofits and unions helping to bankroll and coordinate the actions. Names mentioned include the Service Employees International Union, Make the Road New York, and the Independent Socialist Group. One activist reportedly acknowledged international organizing against ICE. Make the Road New York has received substantial government grants in past years, which raises questions about taxpayer-funded groups being involved in disruptive street actions.

“MUST WATCH: Footage of an a man who looks like Alex Pretti with a gun in his waistband, spitting on and attacking federal law enforcement officers and kicking the tail light of their vehicle on January 13.

    Bombshell report from the BBC.

Important context: Pretti was not a peaceful protester.”

  10. “I’m not saying the incident with Ilhan Omar was staged, but a sitting congresswoman is at an event where an unknown man gets up and sprays an unknown liquid on her.

She then bravely runs towards him, without reflexive safety reaction as most people would do, to tune him up as her security gets there, without concern for her own safety.

Then, instead of taking her to a hospital to get checked out regarding this unknown liquid, she continues her speech as if nothing happened.

    Totally, totally wasn’t staged.

    Totally…”

  11. Kathaleena – I am sorry that you took my prayer thread comment that way. I was not questioning “whether some of us would pray for the actual truth about what is happening.” It was not my intent to “question,” but to encourage and remind us, in these difficult and contentious times, to be open to the possibility that we are not seeing things as clearly as we think. We are all – myself included, needless to say – prone to see through a particular lens, and that can spill over into how we pray.

Thankfully, God works righteously in whatever the situation may be, despite our imperfections.
