  1. Yes, turkey soup day here, too, and I don’t even have to make it. Ain’t life grand?

Yes, Jo, unfortunately, the norm is for SS recipients to get a small raise and then lose more than they gain. Imagine living only on SS? Especially imagine it while illegal people are getting perks you don’t get. Not to be debated on this thread, but something to ponder.

  2. Morning! 14 degrees brrrrr🥶

Dusting of snow on the ground and thankful for a warm home!

I’ll do something with that leftover turkey but my turkey sandwich was oh so good yesterday! The temps are calling for a hot stick to your ribs stew today. I need to make biscuits with that though!

  3. Eggnog bread sounds delicious! And so do those orange chocolate chip cookies!

I am feeling grateful today for the leftovers that Nightingale sent home with me. There was a lot left over, so she divided it all up among us. (Her friends had not been able to make it, so it was just the four of us.)

  4. We had only the four of us. Just the number that fit around our small round table I bought over 40 years ago for an apartment. I gave our larger table to our son to furnish his apartment. It was my grandmother’s table. It’s not fancy, but priceless, maybe made by my grandfather.

  5. Beautiful day here and my heart is full. I didn’t sleep at all last night, and the house is asleep or at least abed, so I need to go down soon myself.

Nobody ended up coming till today, but all of our descendants were here (we had nine people in all, including our younger daughter’s boyfriend), and the couple stayed till well after dark and the family is here overnight and plans to attend church with us in the morning–if it isn’t cancelled. We had several inches of snow tonight and apparently the conditions are quite nasty, so Sunday school is cancelled and they’ll let us know about church. Daughter and boyfriend ran an errand late in the evening and after they came back, the vehicle slid quite a few feet down the hill. Fortunately it didn’t hit anything, but it would be disconcerting to look out and see your vehicle slid 20 feet on its own, and they also said there was a hill they couldn’t climb. And the young man lives in a much snowier area than we do.

My husband finally got to meet the granddaughter born in early March; his health hasn’t allowed him to travel at all. And he doesn’t even get out of the house much (except, especially the last month, to a lot of medical appointments), so he’s exhausted but absolutely reveling in many hours of interacting with family.

My husband said he doesn’t really like snow except on Christmas, so I reminded him today is Christmas. We has a more-or-less-Thanksgiving spread, and the tree was put up and decorated, and then we all exchanged gifts, and then adults talked and children played and read books. It was truly a lovely day.

  7. Glad you had that time, Cheryl. Young people do not realize how precious that time is!

We had a lovely time and will head back home this morning. We stayed an extra night due to snow. However, it hasn’t stopped snowing since yesterday, so it may have been better to leave then. I have heard we have gotten more at home than expected, too. The main roads will be plowed.

We played the game OuiSi, which I had seen advertised on FB. It is quite like Apples to Apples, but with pictures. They have suggestions with around a dozen games, some just for fun and a couple of more competitive versions. It is not a game one of my SIL’s would like at the purpose is more social than competitive. We all enjoyed it and will play it again at Christmas time when we get together. Our youngest daughter suggested bringing it again.

  8. I’m done with turkey for a while.

Which is good, because we ate it all. 😋

Today I’m heading out to dinner with the birthday girl, Cheryl, and Elizbaeth, Isaac, Allen, and Kim to celebrate.

    I will probably have beef.

  9. Still doing turkey here, but what is left will go in the freezer today. I meant to give son some but he left early and I forgot. He took a full loaf of the eggnog bread to share with his department at school tomorrow. He also took a batch of the orange chocolate chip cookies that I baked early today.

  10. Praying for a safe drive home Kathaleena. That sounds like a fun group game❣️

I don’t eat beef Aj but I’m with you in the the turkey fatigue!😂

Is it Cheryl’s birthday today?? If so give her our greetings and blessing for a sweet birthday celebration!

So cold here and flakes falling all day with no accumulation. But that may change overnight!
