  1. Yesterday we visited a local thrift store. It happens to be across from our library and that happened to be temporarily closed due to a water leak. Off to the thrift store we went to see what was new.

One of the volunteers there yesterday was a man we went to church with long ago. We see him around occasionally and always enjoy chatting together. Yesterday, he talked about my husband preaching at the church we had attended together. (My husband does not remember preaching there, although he did it quite a bit.) This gentleman reminded him of a sermon that he liked so much that he asked if my husband would give him a copy of it, which of course he did. Then he told my husband that he was a blessing to many. He never forgot that sermon. It was such a blessing to hear that.

It is so easy to not share what a blessing someone has been in our lives and is a good reminder for us. Our time at that church did not end well, although my husband does not remember that either. Sometimes loss of memory can be a blessing. I was blessed to hear what this man had to say myself.

Praying we are all blessed and bless others this day.

  2. Morning! It is a lovely start to the day here in the forest. Warm and dry but tomorrow some sort of precipitation is supposed to happen.

Kathaleena such a touching interaction with you all and the friend yesterday. Thanks for sharing that with us…those surprise “meet ups” are such a gift of our Lord! ❣️ .

  3. Good morning! That story and its encouragement, Kathaleena, is an example of what our pastor preached on this past Sunday (our pastor to seniors). It was about telling people how much you appreciate them. He also gave an example of when he was called to ministry and how excited he was to share with his pastor. The pastor reacted in a negative way telling him that he would starve and needed to go into another vocation. He went elsewhere for affirmation. He is now a professor in a seminary and over a whole department in addition to pastoring.

  4. It also came up in discussion with son and his girlfriend about him attending Covenant College, that when I told his band director he was thinking of Covenant that she said it is so stringently academic, as if she thought our son would not be up to that level. She was PCA and her son was at Covenant. Maybe she also thought because we were not PCA it would not be a good fit?

Listen for those positive words of encouragement and not to the naysayers!

  5. Heading off to BSF this morning. Then later I will go to the eye doctor who will do my surgery on the scar tissue. Praying for an opening on the surgery schedule.

    Chilly here this morning

Someone asked me a question yesterday at my church Bible study. I wasn’t sure what to say and then decided to be honest that no one had been friendly at my church. They all know who I am and all say Hi, but that is it. They were shocked. And my family has not been friendly either so that leaves me alone. I am slowly making a few friends. The ladies at BSF are much friendlier.

  6. Janice that is something I learned just a bit late…don’t let those discouragers discourage you. I listened to them in my younger years and didn’t follow what I had intended. Yet somehow it all turned out for what I believe the Lord had planned for me and not what I had planned for me!

Jo I am thankful you are making new friends at BSF. I was just telling a dear friend who was visiting that our lives are not looking like what we thought it would be in our older years. Children estranged, one seemingly engages once a month out of obligation (which we put no expectations upon). Not endeared to our grandchildren, and old friends dropping off the radar for no explicable explanation.

I am not engaged with anyone at our church even though I have tried. I gave up. Feeling a bit starved at our church but husband likes it so off I go. I have my small group of ladies who remain my closest friends still after almost 40 years and I am thankful. I pray your children realize the treasure of you in their lives and that our Lord will bring special friends close. I am thankful for you around here!

  7. Oh, I am so thankful for the ones of us here growing older together. I am sure, if possible, that Chas looks down occasionally and reads with perfect vision our comments and that he smiles except when things get heated occasionally.

I am having some second thoughts about my new church lately. Art has more struggles with mobility so the size of the church campus is an issue. Also, the lack of any friendships developing has been disappointing.

  8. Good news as I saw the eye doctor and they were able to schedule the surgery on Dec. 19th. Let’s do away with the fuzzy vision.

Took someone from bsf out to lunch. Wendy’s has 5 dollar baked potatoes. Good to listen to her. She lives by me but may not be here for too much longer.

Got a text from my daughter so now I am invited to two Thanksgiving feasts.
