  1. Good morning and Happy Veteran’s Day to Aj and others who have served. How blessed we are to have God give us those who will step up in this way!

We went to Karen Kingsbury’s movie, “The Christmas Ring.” We enjoyed it very much. It was so moving especially in that real veterans were used as extras, one of whom was 103! We also enjoyed seeing some places in TN where we have visited many times. Made me want to be there again.

We have a 97 yr. old Marine who usually comes to hear the music group at least once a week. He and his wife fell, so they have been missing for a couple of weeks now. He is all right, but his wife broke a wrist. He is always the oldest Marine at the yearly celebration. I did read in the paper that a 97 yr. old would be attending this year. Hopefully, that was him and he is able to get out and about again.

We will take advantage of one of the restaurant offers for veterans today. I am glad for a little better weather today and a bit higher temperature.

I saw video from my daughter who coordinates veteran activities at her university. They put out a few hundred flags in the shape of a letter for their university in honor of their veterans. This is in TN, and it was very cold and windy. She commented it was 75 the Saturday before and will be next Saturday, but in the 30’s when they put them out. Soldiers have to go out in all kinds of weather, so I guess it was fitting.

  2. You know, you don’t wake up one morning and think, “I’m going to become an expert on World War I.”

And yet that’s what happened to me.

Those years I dragged all of you through my research (!), left a mark on my heart.

I’m not the same–to mention it was the introduction into Chambersland that changed a lot of people’s hearts.

So, here’s this reflection, which includes a moment of silence when the war ended.

  3. You know they’ve closed a lot of mosques in the last few years–no one is attending.

Meanwhile, clandestine Christianity is building. There have been a lot of surprising dream encounters throughout the Middle East with “the man in white.” 🙂

  4. Another busy morning but now home trying to relax! It’s cloudy and warming in the 60’s but that should change soon hopefully.

Little Pip not feeling well and I will take her to the vet tomorrow. I suspect Giardia since husband took her up around the beaver ponds…grrrr

Preparing for our annual visit with our precious foster baby who is now 33 with babes of her own and a dear husband. They will come over for brunch on Thursday with her parents. Such a blessing our Lord has poured out on our lives…

  5. So I did something stupid yesterday. When I came home I went by my friends to give her something and to walk my mile. Then I came here and my trash can was at the end of my driveway and needed to be taken up to the back of the house. So I stopped and put it in the back of my car….. Except I had an ice chest or two back there and it didn’t really fit. The hatch almost shut but not quite. So I drove very very slowly up my driveway, did I mention that it is steep. On the really really steep part the trash can and the big ice chest both fell out. I cont’inued up and parked. Then walked down to get the trash can which wasn’t too bad, except that I was tired. Then I went back down to get the mostly empty ice chest. I had to walk sideways with very little balance to get up the hill. A very dangerous thing to do. I am still mentally shaking thinking about what would have happened if I had fallen. I brought something in from the car and then asked my neighbor to bring the rest of the things up and gave him a bag. He kindly do so commenting on how steep my driveway is. I took a rest. Later I found that the half gallon plastic milk jugs had split and I had water in several places. No worries.

My friend told me to order the hitch you can add to your car to attach your trash can for going up or down and it will be my Christmas present. What a day.
