Tychicus – re: last night’s comments – My saying that we should all shudder at that thought was not that we should shudder for our own sakes, but for the sake of those who are lost.
Then again, there is this from Philippians 2″12-13. . .
~ “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” ~
Oops. Re-reading my comment from last night I am reminded that I did indeed say “for our own sakes.” What I had in mind was what I quoted above from Philippians, that we do not take this great salvation for granted, and keep in mind where we would be if Jesus had not chosen and saved us.
Kizzie – I was simply responding to your words: “We should all shudder at the thought of that, for our own sakes…” Then you added: “May God have mercy on us all.“
“How incredibly ironic that a grand jury has indicted Letitia James for bank fraud when she spent two years trying to bankrupt President Trump by suing him for defrauding banks that said they weren’t defrauded.”
Give him the Nobel Peace Prize already…

Tychicus – Yes, God has indeed had mercy on us whom He has saved. And yet, we still need His mercy in so many ways throughout our lives.

Another way of looking at it would be “May God have mercy not only on us whom He has saved, but also on the lost, to bring them to salvation.”
