  1. It’s an overcast morning here and the temps are perfect for late summer early fall…

little miss fox has been here and the bird baths are filled with fresh water. The hummingbirds continue to fatten up at the feeder for their anticipated journey. We had a different fox visit in the middle of the night…he tried to eat the camera but ended up just licking it! The photo capture was hilarious!

Husband is running his hundred miler ultra in Steamboat. I am tracking him on his GPS…so far so good…he’s a little over 2 hours into it! Praying for his endurance and safety….

  2. I was quite young when I joined the neighbors on a trip which also took us to Steamboat. We visited some relatives of theirs who lived in a place with no electricity and kerosene lanterns. I had never seen that before. For whatever reason, the neighbors took one of the children back home with them. This boy was supposed to enter 2nd grade according to his age but had never gone to school. I was asked if I would tutor him so that he would learn to read. I did so and he learn and was able to enter school in the second grade. Years later the neighbor wrote a letter to help me get into the teacher’s education program at the university I attended. There were so many teachers that there had been a limit put on those who could go into the field. What a difference from today! BTW, many of those with teaching degrees ended up working in other fields, many in the mining industry my husband worked in.

Janice, if all you needed was wipers, yahoo!

  3. They probably just forgot to leave something. Our mail used to come at consistent times, sometimes in the morning, other times in the afternoon. Now we never know when it will arrive. Sometimes it comes in the evening. Our post office was reduced to part time quite a few years ago. I am glad we still have one at all.

  4. I went for a long, beautiful walk this morning around the golf course. One of the best parts is that they have benches at each hole. Since this was my longest walk it was nice to be able to sit for a while.

Took a long nap this afternoon.
