I found Kirk and Shapiro both annoying and rather poor debaters. They both went to the UK to participate in formal debates and in my opinion lost badly. They both went back to open air meetings with Q and As in the US where it’s much easier for them. Both Shapiro and Kirk specialised in restating questions so it was easier to answer and would often restate their opponents view into a red herring. Often both would use volume to over talk their opponents. A statement in a post above said Kirk built his platform making a good faith effort to model civil poltical discourse and debate. From my experience watching both Kirk and Shapiro videos that is not what I saw.
Obviously it’s much better for public ideas that debate happens as opposed to gun violence. Speaking on the left, I’d rather have Kirk’s ideas refuted as opposed to his life ended.

The most drastic or gleefully type response uses this Kirk quote from 2023 “I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.” Others have tried to temper this type of rhetoric and asked people to comment with a level of decency. Assuming its the Russian drone attack, the Russians have admitted that it was their drones and called it an accident. And the military should never be employed to fight crime — that’s a police job and from what I understand illegal and unconstitutional in the US except in extreme circumstances and given the 30 year low in violent crime, circumstances are not extreme.
