It’s interesting that Huckabee would see the need to intensify food aid in Gaza if there is no starvation there as Netanyahu claims. It will be too little too late for many. But perhaps that was the plan all along
“As the hunger in Gaza draws increasing international condemnation, Mike Huckabee, the United States ambassador to Israel, said on Wednesday that an American-backed aid initiative in the enclave would soon “scale up.”….”
I hadn’t heard much about the fentanyl problem lately. This interesting article popped up on my feed. I’m not familiar with the source, but it is not overtly partisan and brings up some questions worth noting.
The ones who could end the starvation, continue to stand behind and in hospitals, schools, women and children. Imagine the evilness of even keeping dead bodies! Imagine living next door to such evil that is intent all the time of not only killing you, but of torturing you.
I am so sorry for all this suffering and pain. It is always the innocents who suffer the most.
The innocents in Gaza are largely hostage to Hamas Is it seriously our position that the US and Israel are powerless to deliver them? Surely that beggars belief?
“It’s accountability and deterrence, not retribution. Trump showed mercy to his enemies in his first term and in return they debanked him, tried to throw him in jail and assassinate him. If they get away with that, what will they do to the next president they can’t control?”
Many if not most of those “illegal invaders” are living peaceful, productive lives. And some of them are people of great faith, I think. But I do agree that only legal residents should count for purposes of representation.
So knowing that the Cdn census is mandated by the constitution for every 10 years, I thought I’d google the US rules.
Apparently Article One Section Two states that the census must be conducted every ten years by Congress and the 14th Amendment stipulates that all persons should be included except “Indians not taxed”.
Of course I may be wrong in the above and Google AI may be lying to me. However, it does appear that Trump is exceeding executive authority here and I’m sure someone or something will challenge this in the courts.
Given Trump likes to fire people who come up with numbers he doesn’t like (ie BLS ) I’m not sure we can trust him to conduct a proper census.
Of course if we don’t count illegals will that mean Florida and Texas will lose House seats (along with California) ?
Since Judaism and Islam have strict rules on the treatment and burial of bodies both Palestinian groups and the Israel gov’t have used dead bodies in hostage deals. This isn’t a Hamas only thing.
During the Iranian bombing of Israel, it became apparent that the Israelis have military shelters under hospitals and schools — its not only a Hamas thing. Both sides do it.
So when I read your comment, I initially wasn’t sure who you were referring to; Israel or Hamas?
And as Debra points out — the people of Gaza can be fed tomorrow if Israel or the US want them to be fed.
Debra — Fentanyl is largely an excuse or a fear mongering tactic. Most fentanyl arrives via shipping containers or is manufactured in the US. Smuggling that is done across legal borders is by US citizens, with pensioners the favoured drug mules.
Trump used fentanyl as an “emergency” excuse to levy tariffs on Canada. And when the amount was rightly pointed out to be negligible — far more goes the opposite direction from the US to Canada, officials in the Trump admin claimed border patrol just hasn’t caught it. The same reasoning of Bush and WMDs — try to prove a negative.
The way to end the drug trade is simple — cut off the money transfer and remove demand. Without US consumer demand, drugs wouldn’t be an issue. The US has the highest use of opiates in the western world at 1%, Canada is at 0.4%. The UK is the closet to the US at 0.73%. (Canada is top of the world at marijuana use — stoner nation, 27% of adults use marijuana at least once a year)
Those peaceful productive illegal invaders are just that… illegal. Not citizens. If they want to live here peacefully and productively they need to go back to their country of origin and apply to enter legally…and most assuredly those “of faith” should abide by the law just like those not of faith…even more so…
Many of them were made illegal by Trump simply revoking their status—-sometimes at the hearings. There is time to do these things decently and in order. That’s something our President doesn’t seem to know much about; and believers around him who should be able to help him are either without knowledge the themselves or pretend to be.
Fentanyl sales booming in the Springs along with productive illegal invaders… until today for some…
DEA raid in Colorado Springs nets five ICE arrests amid Mexican drug cartel allegations
Aug 7, 2025 Updated 25 mins
The Village East Apartments on Hathaway Drive in Colorado Springs. Mackenzie Bodell, The Gazette
The Drug Enforcement Administration executed two search warrants Thursday morning at an apartment complex in eastern Colorado Springs that was allegedly being used to distribute drugs by Mexican cartel members, the agency said.
According to Kameron Korte with the DEA, the raid on the Village East Apartments on Hathaway Drive resulted in a handgun and “distribution amounts” of fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin being seized. In addition, agents recovered a “large amount of money” from the apartments.
I’m very glad to hear of actual drugs seized and lawful search warrants being used. That appears to be a decent lawful arrest made in the way professionals conduct themselves.
There were a lot of bad actors, Tychicus. But being victimized by them is not showing mercy. I’m seriously trying to think if he really did show mercy, or was he just gang- jumped and didn’t know how to handle it. I want to give him credit. Just because I think he’s acting poorly now doesn’t mean he might not deserve credit, at least in my mind, for other things. I don’t want to be unfair.
Was that mercy or did he not have the political power and personnel to know how to handle them . He clearly did not have personnel who had his back and knew what was going on. I don’t see that as mercy; it’s something else — inexperience maybe? I don’t know .
Anyway, it was just a question sparked by the assertion that he showed mercy. Now you know what it’s like to be a a random thought trapped in the fun-house between my ears. :–)
“President Trump and economist Stephen Moore just revealed the Biden Bureau of Labor Statistics overcounted the number of jobs added under Biden by 1.5 MILLION
Actually when I heard she was being fired, my first thought was did she deserve it, because I remembered the constant revisions during the Biden admin.
But the fact is she’s only been in that position for a year and a half, and the significant revisions have been happening much much longer. So I asked someone who used to be a controller responsible for sending in those surveys. He didn’t think the revisions were that significant given the job market. He said there was no real penalty for sending the numbers in late and so they were sometimes late and that would necessitate the revisions.
I have no reason to care if he fires her or not other than it appearing to be a temper tantrum. What I do care about is that the person in the position is NONPARTISAN. I don’t believe he will appoint a nonpartisan. I could be wrong. I hope so.
“The delay in correcting the labor report, revised from 1.5 million overstated jobs on March 8, 2025, after being initially reported on August 2, 2024, raises questions about timing since the correction occurred after the election. Despite this, Trump’s victory was secure, so it likely didn’t sway the outcome in Kamala Harris’s favor.
What caught my attention was the market’s reaction to the March 2025 report, which contributed to a sell-off as investors adjusted to the revised weaker economic data, evident in the US500 index drop around that time.
We need to understand what the commissioner knew and when she knew the August 2024 report was inaccurate, as such reports always impact market stability. This time, the timing suspiciously aligned with global perceptions of Trump’s economic policies during his active engagement in tariff negotiations.”
Oh please . Trump is the eternal victim. I wonder if he or his supporters know how weak that makes him.
I saw an interview he gave where he literally said the bad parts of the economy were Biden’s and the good parts were his. I hate to say it, but he displays real narcissistic tendencies. DJ was right: his character doesn’t seem to be able to support his ambition. And now he’s busy tearing through the constitutional rule of law with a chainsaw while his supporters mindlessly cheer him on.
It’s outrageous for anyone in government to question the integrity of the BLS,” said Jason Furman, a Harvard professor and former Obama economic adviser. “Accurate statistics are essential to the economy.”
This cracks me up. And how soon we conveniently forget the Democrats blaming Trump for all their “inherited from the Trump administration “ troubles which were caused by their own stupid agenda.
From your own post a day or two ago the number of times the numbers had to be downgraded was 43 out of 48 months if memory serves. This predates Trump by a loooong shot.
Trump is not always the victim, and by claiming to be, he is rapidly becoming unreliable. Unfortunate that.
By the way, it’s folly to think that this won’t rattle our economic cage. I’m told the bond market is already showing some stress, and actually China has been slowly divesting since the Great Recession.
It’s interesting that Huckabee would see the need to intensify food aid in Gaza if there is no starvation there as Netanyahu claims. It will be too little too late for many. But perhaps that was the plan all along

How about Hillary, Strzok and Paige, Vindman, just to name a few. They are legion.

So for continuing their conspiracy even after he left them alone, they must now be forced to pay.
