  1. And here’s another view on what’s happening in the Gaza war.

“When Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, led the country to a military victory over Iran in June, both his allies and rivals portrayed it as his finest achievement. Flush with newfound confidence and authority, Mr. Netanyahu seemed finally to have gained the political capital he needed to override opposition from his far-right government allies to reach a truce in Gaza.

Six weeks later, the prime minister has squandered that moment. The talks between Hamas and Israel are, yet again, stuck. Israel is now pushing for a deal to end the war in one go, instead of in phases. The move brings negotiations to where they were 19 months ago, when mediators last tried to reach a comprehensive deal, and it is just as likely to fail as it did then.

Now as then, both Hamas and Mr. Netanyahu are refusing to make the compromises needed for such a comprehensive deal to work.

“As long as this is the government — and assuming it doesn’t fundamentally change its course — there will be no comprehensive agreement, and the hostages will not return,” wrote Oren Setter, a former member of Israel’s negotiation team, in a column on Monday in the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot. “The opposition needs to understand this, the public needs to understand this, and the media needs to understand this,” Mr. Setter added.

In short, the credit that Mr. Netanyahu accrued following the war with Iran in June has evaporated, both domestically and overseas….”

  2. Women should be outraged that the federal govt and FDA allow drug companies to use fear to push women into getting vaccines that are as dangerous as what they’re supposed to protect against, if not more dangerous.

“RFK Jr. Reveals: Gardasil Vaccine 37x More Lethal Than Cervical Cancer It Prevents

“Gardasil is probably the single worst mass vaccine that we’ve ever seen. Vaccine targets millions of pre-teens and teens, for whom the risk of dying from cervical cancer is zero. Nobody in their right mind would ever take this vaccine if they actually read the clinical literature.”

“Death rates in the Gardasil trial were 37 times the death rates for cervical cancer. Children who take that vaccine, the Gardasil vaccine, are 37 times more likely to die from the vaccine than they are to die from cervical cancer.”

“So the problem with Gardasil, like most vaccines, is it was never tested against a true placebo, an inert placebo. And the CDC and HHS say… If you don’t test it against a true placebo, it’s not science. You have no way of gauging whether the injuries you’re seeing from the product are being caused by that product or whether they’re just bad, sad coincidences.”

“The entity that is actually performing the study is, and paying for the study, is Merck. Merck got to decide which injuries were being caused by Gardasil and which were just bad coincidences and because it had that power it just wrote them all off as bad coincidences.”

“You can do that when there’s no placebo because the injuries they were seeing in the control group which where the girls were getting aluminum neurotoxins were identical to the injuries they were getting in the Gardasil group so they said well we don’t have to report any of these as vaccine injuries. So they were able to license something that is insanely dangerous.”

Big Pharma has basically been buying off legacy media for years to make sure they don’t call out their dangerous drugs

This is also why families struggle to afford good healthcare & prescriptions

Big Pharma spends over $10 billion per year on tv ads that could instead be used to lower costs for working Americans

  6. Perhaps the BLS does need to be reformed. But although I support much of Trump’s agenda, I don’t know that I would trust his people to reform this department. It needs to be nonpartisan and I don’t think Trump knows how to do that.

“A chief White House economic adviser said Sunday that President Trump wants his allies placed in the Bureau of Labor Statistics after the agency published a surprisingly dismal jobs report Friday and the president later fired its commissioner.

Kevin Hassett, Trump’s National Economic Council director, said on NBC that the firing of BLS commissioner Erika McEntarfer is part of Trump’s plan to make further changes to the agency.
“The president wants his own people there, so that when we see the jobs numbers, they are more transparent and more reliable,” Hassett said….,.
    …..
The data that BLS collects is based on a voluntary, monthly survey of 121,000 businesses and government agencies. In a typical month, BLS hears back from about 60% of the establishments in its sample in time for that month’s jobs report. Most of the rest normally respond in the next month or two, leading to routine revisions.

Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan suggested Sunday on CBS that those methods “just aren’t as effective anymore.”……
    …….
“This baseless, damaging claim undermines the valuable work and dedication of BLS staff who produce the reports each month,” said Bill Beach, a BLS commissioner during Trump’s first term. “This escalates the president’s unprecedented attacks on the independence and integrity of the federal statistical system.”

“President Trump believes businesses, households, and policymakers deserve accurate data when making major policy decisions and he will restore America’s trust in this key data,” said White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers.”

  10. There are many detractors in this country who believe our President is the problem but they are wrong…perhaps those thinking Netanyahu is the problem in their country are just as mistaken…

    Liked by 2 people

    • Perhaps. The midterms will tell a lot about what people think of the President’s performance here. Netanyahu survived an opposition bid to dissolve the government, probably because of the war. He’s also currently on trial for corruption but the proceedings are suspended because of the war. This has led to speculation that he has an incentive to prolong the war. At any rate, their elections are in 2026. So we should know more about how people in both countries actually view the performance of their leaders then.

Illinois, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut also had especially large numbers of declined detainers.

Detainers were declined by jails in 46 states and three U.S. territories (the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Northern Marianas). Many of these states have state laws prohibiting sanctuary policies.

The jail with the highest number of declined detainers or insufficient notice to ICE was the main jail in Santa Clara County, Calif., which released nearly 3,000 criminal aliens during the period.

Cook County Jail in Illinois and Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in Virginia each also released more than 1,000 criminal aliens during the period.

A total of 72 criminal aliens with homicide convictions or charges were released during the period. The Illinois River Corrections Center and the Santa Clara County jails each released six convicted killers, and Stateville Correctional Center in Illinois released five.”

  14. Bibi blew it — he decided to “solve” the problem forever, and went for a genocide. He used and then abused all the initial empathy after the Hamas attack and the traditional support Israel receives. The truce demonstrated that there was a piecemeal solution but he wanted more. In the end, his methods grew so bad that even western nations usually pro-Israeli, have had enough and will soon recognise Palestine.

The death toll does not determine right or wrong but unnecessary deaths do indicate criminal behaviour.

I find it ironic that people refusing to recognise Palestine as a state and support Israel’s policy of blockade yet demand Palestine act as an independent state.

Hamas or the PLO in the west bank do not have sufficient authority or independence to be held responsible for food delivery — hence the UN normally does it. Hamas does not wear uniforms because its not a state actor. This is not a war between two countries — its an occupation and a genocide. Civilians do and can fight back when the occupying army is indiscriminate.

Its impossible to blame Hamas or other groups for the massive destruction of Gaza. IEDs etc are not sufficient. If you see the photos taken from the air, you see how systemic the destruction is, something only possible by a sustained organised force.

Hamas does have tunnels and booby traps — that’s the norm for any irregular group resisting an occupation — the Viet Cong and the resistance movement during WW2.

    • I do think Hamas is as responsible for their own murders and war crimes as any other actor in this conflict. But your point that this is not a fight between 2 countries is well taken. And when you consider the concept of just war, the response is overwhelmingly lopsided and therefore, unjust. I find it shocking to see how readily Christians forget that there are thousands of innocents in Gaza, including Christians, who are caught in the middle. And they harden their hearts and cheer the fighting on. It seems that Zionism trumps Christianity in some ‘christian’ minds and hearts. And that’s a shame.

  15. I googled Guardsill controversy — and it went straight to a legal firm. Some ambulance chasing. Maybe that’s why drugs cost too much in the US (no its not).

Grade seven students receive the HPV vaccines in Ontario – both male and female. Other than the usual dizzines or sore arms that one out of 30 complains about each year, I can’t recall any problems in the dozen or so years it’s been done. That would be about 750 students in total. Like most vaccines, it’s not recommended if you’re over 25.

As I’ve said before, drugs are too expensive in the US because gov’t purchase groups (VA, Medicaid, Medicare etc) refuse to use their bulk buying power to negotiate discounts. Pass the bill that Bernie has been advocating for decades and the cost will drop — but sure Trump will lower it by 1500%.

However, I will agree the amount of advertising on US television for prescription drugs is weird. Why?? Just ban it like any other country. From what I understand, they blanket cable news with ads, and cable news audiences are literally dying — ie the demographic for all news channels including FOX is over 65.

I found the blood pressure levels interesting. About three years ago my pressure was 160 over 90 — with the lowest dose prescription I’m around 140 over 80. My doctor says that’s fine. I imagine it varies according to individuals so when the American Heart Association changed it to 120 over 80 it was out of caution and probably a fear of litigation. But if your bottom number is close to 90 I’d be cautious.

I’m sure as tariffs begin to affect the inflation more, some more heads will roll and soon bureaucrats will produce bogus numbers to protect their job.

I’m still confused why there’s a 10% tariff on bananas — there’s no banana industry to protect or even start up

  18. Gerrymandering is anti-democratic and wrong. And with AI and computer models, it will only get worse.

But let’s not get distracted, Texas is already gerrymandered. And now in the mid census cycle, Texas wants to gerrymander even more. And yes so is California.

However, its impossible to gerrymander Vermont as suggest by the tweet shared. That’s also true for Delaware, Wyoming, North and South Dakota and Alaska. And then there’s the states with only two or three seats, again almost impossible to gerrymander. And that includes New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island along with Nebraska, Idaho, Montana etc

Claiming that New Hampshire is gerrymandered is weird considering there are only two seats and the map has barely changed since it was represented by Republicans in the Bush era.

The gerrymandering occurs mostly in the Old South states; for example Louisiana is currently in the courts over its districts while North Carolina has also spent alot of time there. Illinois’s map looks like fun too. It looks like they tried to put all the rural areas in the three districts not quite gerrymandering but definitely some packing going on there. With the right AI and computer models, Illinois could probably crack those three districts and shut out the Republicans. New York’s map actually looks reasonable – the results favored the Democrats but the districts aren’t unreasonable — followed county/metro lines and some are even competitive.

The easy solution is to pass rules stating that independent commissions must use lower political boundaries (counties, etc) and natural boundaries (rivers, etc) prior to any other considerations – rural/urban, social-economic. I’m sure the right wing will advocate this.

Texas and Trump should’ve started this nonsense. Its bad enough to do once a decade but this makes democracy look like a farce. All of course to not face the voters. If Illinois and California follow Texas’s lead, the Republicans will lose and if New York joins in the fun, its game over.
