  1. Good morning from warm and humid Atlanta.

We had more overnight rain. A church caught fire near Stone Mountain. The cause is expected to be a lightening strike.

Current temp is 73° and we expect to hit the high 80s in the afternoon.

  2. Happy Anniversary, Mumsee and Mike. When I think of driving up to Canada, I think of a longer trip than a weekend, But then, I don’t live that close to the border.

  3. Morning. Happy Anniversary Mumsee and Mike.

Cool temps this morning heading up to 80. The air is fresh and the fox is taking his nap out front…all is sweet in this forest…

  4. One of my kids celebrates a wedding anniversary today as well. How can I have a child married for 19 years? Or, even 21 years????

Back from a splendid time in the MidWest, a terrific trip. I visited Navy friend in Fort Wayne 11 days ago and followed up with a conference last weekend in Elgin, IL. Saw lots and lots and lots of friends.

Monday night, a group of us took a sunset cruise on Lake Michigan. After a short squall on a balmy night, we had one bright rainbow and then a second–I’ve not seen a double rainbow since we lived in Hawai’i.

Such a splendid time. So much rich conversation, teaching, and my husband and I visited both the Field Museum and the Chicago Institute of Art.

It will be hard to settle down to real life today. Dinner? Who cooks dinner?

(Actually, I can hardly wait to eat fruit and vegetables! Yes! There must be at least one giant zucchini in the garden . . . )

    🙂

  5. No vegetable garden for us this year. Yes, I do miss the freshness of going out to pick my own.

Happy anniversary to Mike and Mumsee! A honeymoon in Canada puts me in mind of my friend who married right out of high school. They drove to Canada for a honeymoon night. Unfortunately, they did not bring a marriage license and were refused a room. They ended up sleeping in their car! Imagine that! I believe that was 66 years ago now. That is the difference in social moral values.

  6. Kathleena’s story reminds me of my nephew. His bride was a few days short of 21, he was only 19, so they had to borrow a car since rental agencies wouldn’t rent to minors, and the hotel in Dallas had to see a marriage licence since Texas law said they couldn’t rent to anyone under 21 who was unmarried.

  7. Happy anniversary, Mumsee and Mike. You’ve been married twelve years longer than we have. Which makes sense since you’re so much older and wiser than I am. (But my wife is older than you. 🙂 )

  8. When niece was in Greece with us and her boyfriend came to visit, we did not offer to let them share a room. They went on an overnight ferry for a few days. Upon their return, they told us there was a men’s section, women’s section, and married section. They did not qualify for married so were regulated to separate quarters. I chuckled. Quietly. To myself.
