  1. Good morning and good weekend to all. I hope I can get a walk in the sunshine today.

I am currently reading a biography of a woman brought up in Nazi Germany. My daughter, who used to post here, got to hear her speak and bought her book. I just noticed the autograph on the book. It is inscribed with the author’s name and this, “Love always wins.” What a lovely, true thought. Such a good thing to remember always.

  2. Just getting into the May edition of “Tabletalk” which this month’s opening articles focus on “True Christianity”:

” Authentic Christianity isn’t defined by cultural trends, personal opinions, or shifting cultural norms; it’s defined by Christ and His Word. The call to follow Him isn’t casual or optional; it’s a call to wholehearted devotion. May we not settle for a hollowed-out Christianity. May we, by God’s grace, be Christians in the truest sense — disciples of Jesus Christ who walk in the light of His Word, stand firm in the truth, and hold fast to the faith once for all delivered to the saints Jude 3).” (Thomas Brewer, editor)

  3. It has been a busy couple of weeks with highs and lows. Today I decided to get myself out in the sunshine and remove the dead stuff from the garden. There is green underneath! And I have been achooing since being out there! Snow coming early this week after a couple days of rain… winter is not done with us.

  4. I have massive weeds taking over my Mexican sage in front, I may ask my gardener (who would make very quick work of it) to handle it for a little “extra” $). …

The downside of spring. We had some rain this morning again and it will be a cool weekend, in the low 60s — a very cool start of spring for us.

Pray for Nico the dog next door who’s been caught in a back-and-forth mystery trips to and from the seriously overcrowded LA city dog shelter in town by my neighbors who seem not to know what they’re doing and won’t accept the rescue help I’ve tried to offer 😦 … praying (and have asked the rescue people I know there to be on the lookout) for a good family who might adopt him and save him with a stable home …

Neighbors say they may have a “plan” for one of their relatives in Mexico to take him to live on a farm, which who knows, but … I’m feeling not very hopeful at this point for his future and feel horrible he seems to be caught going in and out of the horrors of that overcrowded city shelter right now. 😦 I have no real idea what’s actually going on with them and the dog 😦 , don’t think I’m getting the truth so I’m just staying out of it as I need to maintain good relations with the neighbors at this point.

  5. I do know the shelters now are euthanizing young, healthy dogs out of necessity. All of them are over-capacity and offering adoptions at half-price this weekend. 😦 …

  6. DJ at 4:52, that is what i am getting from Tozer in the Crucified Life. Enough of the “I accepted Jesus and am now saved, let’s go get a soda”. Time to get on with the mission of worshipping God. Truly and continually.

  7. Our sermon today was on Joshua 1:1-11 and the importance of staying faithful in reading and studying God’s word and following in obedience, making God our priority. Nothing new about that, and yet … how easily we stray and bend and weave this way or that, distracted by just the smallest distractions and shiny things.

  8. We also sang Ps. 146 today:

“Do not put your trust in princes,

    mortal men who cannot save.

All their plans will come to nothing

When they perish in the grave.”
