  1. Just to be clear, when I have written against the media, I was never thinking of Dj and others like her who happen to be reporters. I am grateful to all who have been able to stay on the job and write fairly and well. I am grateful to have a local paper. Most of it is filled with AP articles, many of which are skewed left-wing. Most of the opinions and cartoons follow suit. I take what I can get from the paper. Some I get is how others think. Sometimes it is just facts I have not known. Mostly I get some local news I would get nowhere else. I do know reporters who have had to go to other jobs to actually make a decent living. The paper is different from decades ago when a different editor was in charge. He worked to maintain a better balance. Times change.

Thank God we have places to look for a more balanced view. There is no perfect place, so you do have to balance it out yourself, looking at various sites. It also helps when you can take in speeches and hearings yourself. I don’t look at X, but imagine there are viewpoints from one extreme to the other. Each one who posts is also just a flawed human being.

Frankly, whether it is in a newspaper office, a school, a hospital setting, holding to the truth can be such a great challenge. Kudus to those who do it gracefully, wisely and bravely!

  2. CNN —

More than 100 immigrants, allegedly in the country illegally, were detained in Colorado Springs after an overnight raid at what authorities described as an underground nightclub in a strip mall.

“What was happening inside was significant drug trafficking, prostitution, crimes of violence,” Jonathan C. Pullen, the Special Agent in Charge at the DEA Rocky Mountain Division, said at a news conference Sunday morning. “We seized a number of guns in there.”

Over a dozen active-duty military members were also at the club during the raid, and federal officials said some were working at the illicit operation. “We had active-duty service members who were running security at the club and involved in some of these crimes,” Pullen said.

  3. Agreed, Kathaleena. That is what I would like for this site: a variety of sources and none of them denigrated. We can look at them, consider alternate views, pray for wisdom and a godly tongue, and discuss them like people who will be spending eternity together, worshipping God.

  4. Adding more to provide context that CNN would not:

The DEA reports that they had investigated this “underground nightclub” over many months, and conducted the operation with numerous other law enforcement agencies. They say this underground nightclub was frequented by MS-13 gang members and Tren De Aragua gang members, as well as members of Hell’s Angels.

  5. Say their names.

“The White House has put about 100 posters of unauthorized immigrants who have been arrested for violent crimes… What’s particularly noteworthy about this location is it’s right directly behind the positions where TV correspondents do their hits from the White House lawn… If you’re doing a hit from the White House right now, those pictures will be behind you.””

  6. “BREAKING: Trump is launching a full-scale war on sanctuary cities — and the crackdown starts today.

Karoline Leavitt just made the announcement from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House moments ago.

President Trump will sign two major executive orders this afternoon — putting sanctuary cities, and the criminals they protect, directly in the crosshairs.”

  7. This is good news about the Ukraine war.

“KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday declared a unilateral 72-hour ceasefire next week in Ukraine to mark Victory Day in World War II as the U.S. presses for a deal to end the 3-year-old war. Kyiv insisted on a longer and immediate truce.

The Kremlin said the truce, ordered on “humanitarian grounds,” will run from the start of May 8 and last through the end of May 10 to mark Moscow’s defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945 — Russia’s biggest secular holiday….”

  8. “I am all for if you find someone who’s a violent illegal, then yeah, take them back,” said Perez, a financial analyst from Maryland, “But even those deserve due process.”

I find this new buzz phrase incredulous. If they say it enough will it make it logical and lawful? No due process was implemented when any illegal crossed our border illegally. But now that they are caught they must be extended due process?? It doesn’t work that way. Go back to your country of origin and apply legally.

“REPORT: The female pilot flying the Black Hawk helicopter that collided with an American Airlines flight, made multiple mistakes and ignored a warning from her co-pilot, according to the New York Times.

    Tragic.

The New York Times reports that there were multiple mistakes made leading up to the tragedy that took over 60 lives.

“Not only was the Black Hawk flying too high, but in the final seconds before the crash, its pilot failed to heed a directive from her co-pilot, an Army flight instructor, to change course,” the NYT reports.

The report also puts blame on the air traffic controller for not being clear and urgent enough however Warrant Officer Andrew Eaves, who was co-piloting and the instructor of Captain Rebecca Lobach, told her to turn left. She didn’t.

“He told her he believed that air traffic control wanted them to turn left, toward the east river bank.”

“Turning left would have opened up more space between the helicopter and Flight 5342, which was heading for Runway 33 at an altitude of roughly 300 feet. She did not turn left,” reported the NYT.”

  11. “.@realDailyWire’s @MaryMargOlohan: “Alex Thompson said at the White House Correspondents Dinner. And I’m going to read his quote, ‘President Biden’s decline and its cover up by the people around him is a reminder that every White House, regardless of the party, is capable of deception. We, myself included, miss a lot of this story, and some people trust us less because of it.’ Can you comment on those remarks and whether you agree with that assessment?”

@PressSec @KarolineLeavitt: “I do agree with that assessment from Alex Thompson, who I understand won an award for writing a story months and perhaps years after the American people already knew that story to be true. Millions of Americans watched our mentally incompetent President struggle with his day-to-day duties of this office. We watched our country be ran into the ground as a result, and nobody in the media wanted to write about that or talk about it. There were many, many reporters, I will say, right-leaning reporters who did talk about that, who didn’t get awards, didn’t get coverage. In fact, they were lambasted for their coverage and I remember being on President Trump’s campaign talking about Joe Biden’s clear mental incompetence and being accused by people in this room of manufacturing deepfake videos, trying to persuade the public into not believing what they saw with their own eyes for many years and I think it’s about time the legacy media finally admits that was one of the greatest cover ups and scandals that ever took place in American history and certainly it did contribute to the decline in the trust that Americans have for the legacy media — Peter — which, by the way, is why we’ve made many changes to this briefing room in this White House. It’s long overdue.”

  12. I am liking all the companies declaring their intention to invest in production in the US. But words are cheap and I won’t be satisfied that it’s really going to happen until ground is broken and American workers are hired. May it come soon. 🙂

  13. We trust the secret service? We trust truth in reporting? SS going to say their view was obstructed therefore they didn’t see the guy swipe the purse? CNN reported it was a white guy wearing a surgical mask. Hmmmm

This incident sheds light on two glaring issues facing America today.

First, it serves as yet another example of the chaos unleashed by the Biden administration’s open-border policies.

By allowing unchecked migration, criminal elements like Bustamante Leiva slip through the cracks and victimize law-abiding citizens — including top government officials.

Second, this raises serious questions about the operational readiness of the Secret Service.

The fact that an illegal migrant could approach and rob the Secretary of Homeland Security in a public setting is alarming.

If the Secret Service cannot secure a Cabinet-level official’s table at a restaurant, what does that say about their ability to protect against more serious threats?

The media’s muted response also reveals a double standard.

If a similar incident had involved a Democratic official, the headlines would scream incompetence and demand immediate accountability.

Instead, because the victim is a Republican, we are treated to whispers and snide remarks about the amount of cash in her purse rather than a serious discussion about the security failure.

The public deserves answers: how could this happen, why weren’t better protections in place, and what steps will be taken to prevent it from happening again?
