Prayer for twenty three daughter who seems to have had a complete mental breakdown. Husband called her at the facility and she was very limited in words, I love my mommy and daddy, until she dropped the phone after about thirty seconds. I called a few hours later. She was very quiet in greeting. I said hi using her full name, she talked almost normally and then started her crazy laughter followed by her saying she thought she was another girl (a friend of hers), then threw the phone. The nurse had told Mike daughter had no idea where or who she was.
~ Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12 ~
(And his comments: “Since we are children of God we should live our lives in such a way that the character and fruit of our lives would be one that is kind, compassionate, humble, gentle, and long suffering.”)
Pray for my good friend’s husband C who is not doing well at all, he is sleeping almost nonstop, can barely walk or take care of himself in what’s been a fairly sudden onset of these symptoms — they go in to see a neurologist on Friday. They are Roman Catholic, she is a believer, I’m unclear about him.
any new meds on board? Sounds like my husband on Embril about eight years ago. One of the little known side effects was to quickly destroy muscle. He could not even feed himself.
I can’t remember just how much or little I mentioned about my situation with the house. What happened was that a couple or so weeks ago, I received a letter from my home insurance company, informing me that if I did not make some expensive repairs, including a new roof, my insurance would be cancelled. Nightingale and I were looking at having to find new places to live and going through way too much stuff in this house (mine, hers, and a bunch of stuff from my late mother-in-law’s home that came here when she did) within just a few short months. My anxiety level was very high!
After laying out the situation to my pastor, there is a possibility that a contractor who attends my church may be able to do the required work and only charge me for materials. This is not a sure thing at this point, but Pastor N is trying to see if it can be worked out. I’m sure it also depends on if the contractor can afford the time, and if there are enough workers to donate their own time.
I would never have asked for this, not wanting to take advantage of anyone, but Pastor N wants to see if it is possible. So far, he is sounding positive about it, and I am hopeful. Being able to keep the home insurance would mean that we would not have to find new places to live AND deal with all the stuff in this house, as well as packing and whatnot, in such a very short period of time.
Even if this all comes to pass, and the insurance is renewed, we are still planning on selling the house and moving within a couple of years. I do not have the money to do all the many, many repairs and improvements that are needed on the inside.
All of this has been very stressful and exhausting, especially before Pastor N got involved with his idea. Hoping for that has helped quite a bit, but I am afraid to hope too much and then find out it can’t be worked out. But I am remaining cautiously optimistic.
I have put my name on the wait list for an apartment at a senior living place here in town. Nightingale and I felt that this would be best for me as I age. Not only are the rents adjusted to income, but then they do not go up. All the amenities are close, such as laundry machines located in each building.
The wait list for my income level is a couple of years, so if all goes well and I can keep my home insurance, then I will stay here until I can get in there, and then try to sell this place.
mumsee, he’s been on some meds for depression and to help him sleep for 33(!) years, and they thought that might be the source of this a couple months ago when symptoms began so abruptly; so psychologist is weaning him off that, he’s all most completely off of everything now — but the condition is still dire, if not getting worse now. The hope was that as the meds left his system this might clear up, but that’s not happening apparently.
He can barely walk, is terrified to take a shower or use any kind of steps (they have 3 steps down into a sunken family room where he often sleeps and works on the computer, but he no longer feels he can use those without a lot of help — even with the handrail they’ve installed).
He can’t drive in a straight line, everyone honks at him so driving is most definitely out for now.
Prayers, Kizzie, that the pastor’s plan can work out. Your plan to move into a senior living place later sounds great, too. I have had friends living in two places like that in my community. They are very nice situations for seniors and offer many choices for friendships for those who desire to make new friends.
Dj, that is a very dire situation. Sometimes it can take a few weeks for meds to be fully out of the system. Praying for them!
Mumsee, still thinking about all y’all have been through. Praying for God to provide the best solution and give y’all peace.
Kizzie, my mother-in-law was in such a place for a year or so, and she loved it. I don’t think hers was rent-controlled, but she got into it much faster than had been predicted (just a couple of months, and they’d told her two to three years . . . but everyone ahead of her on the list wasn’t ready yet, and so it got offered to her).
Praying and praising, Kizzie. Now is a good time to start downsizing. A little bit to the trash bin each day. Start with your’s and mom in law’s. First thing you know, it becomes fun, and suddenly you are set free of the burden of stuff. Your hope is in Christ. Doing a bit each day will have you ready to go in two years!
Jo, I have been giving some books away, too. 🙂 In fact, just a little while ago, I was looking at one and thinking of just the right person to give it to.

My friend says he sleeps “90%” of the time.

Mumsee – That is my plan exactly! And that will be a lot easier and more enjoyable to do than having to do it all super fast.

I am enjoying giving things away. Visiting friends just took a few books. I totally enjoy giving things away.
