Musk sounds like my last hair stylist….cutting way too fast and too much!!! I fired her and have been trying to fix her “masterpiece” since last July!!😂
President Trump said on Thursday that the next phase of his plan to cut the federal work force would be conducted with a “scalpel” rather than a “hatchet” in what appeared to be a step aimed at restraining Elon Musk.
He violated most labour and contract laws so most of his firings and actions will be repealed.
He doesn’t have security clearance for much of what he was looking at and thus his actions will be open to appeal here too. He openly takes ketamine, a banned substance, so he’ll never be cleared.
He is the CEO of three companies (where does he find the time), all of which are given huge gov’t subsidies so there’s a huge conflict of interest. Space X just blew up again but there’s little chance of DOGE investigating whether the gov’t is getting there moneys worth there.
Hollowing out the administrative (and security) state lowers the GDP. And forecasters are now saying it will be a negative 2 or 3% this quarter. The economy looks to be heading into a recession – or how some Trump admins call it, a detox. They are looking to redefine both GDP and recession.
And finally he’s extremely unpopular and bringing down the Republcan/Trump polling numbers. He will be eased out the door and some luckless bureaucrat will have to clean up his mess and restore order.
They might have gotten away with it but the administrative state looks to have withstood the initial fury. The Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision was closer than it should have been but it will slow down the assault. I suspect the “scalpel” will see a return to more “normal” ways of reducing the gov’t; slow attrition, ignore rules, and lack of enforcement
Law abiding illegal immigrants? Can’t make this stuff up…”this is not normal” girl…
Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) is at it again. Instead of asking tough questions, she resorts to cheap political stunts. The focus isn’t on America’s safety—it’s on scoring points.
At a House Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary cities, her theatrics took center stage. Instead of challenging failing sanctuary mayors in a meaningful way, she opted for a stream of profanity-laced comments. It’s nothing more than a distraction.
Stansbury dismisses real efforts to protect our streets. President Trump worked hard to remove dangerous criminals from our neighborhoods, yet she labeled his initiatives as “absolute bulls**t.”
Her remarks didn’t stop there. She said, “I always think that we should sage this room after these hearings because we hear a lot of crazy stuff in here,” and added, “Our mayors are sitting here, enduring this ridiculous, ridiculous hearing as they’ve been threatened in front of the American people.” Such statements show a complete lack of focus on the real issues.
She ramped up the rhetoric when she proclaimed, “I want to reject the fundamental premise of this hearing because what this entire effort is about is intimidating state and local officials, attacking law-abiding immigrant families and spending millions of dollars of taxpayer dollars both in the administration and in Congress to make ads that are complete smoke and mirrors, trying to say that Donald Trump has somehow secured America’s safety.” Then again, she screamed, “It’s total bulls**t, absolute bulls**t,” and further insulted the efforts by adding, “They are not making America safer again, and what they are doing is terrorizing immigrant families. That is what they are doing.”
Her petulance is on full display. Just the other night during President Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress, Stansbury flashed a “this is not normal” sign as he walked by
The Trump admin decided to go old school and try to overthrow a gov’t they didn’t like….. unfortunately for them, no one in Ukraine was that simple minded, they knew what was happening
Trump seems to be on a mission to secure a peace at any cost, especially Ukrainian cost. This is a bit weird since in terms of power politics, its actually in the US’s best interests for the war to continue — keeps the authoritarians busy, and secures the western world.
Some say he’s motivated by a hatred for Z, who he connects to his impeachment. and there’s some evidence of this. Others say he wants to accomplish something Biden failed and thus he would be better than Biden (I think Biden deliberately kept the war going as it was in the US interest).
Then I hear on a FOX clip, that he’s aiming for the Nobel Peace prize as a way to catch up to Obama so to speak. And then there’s the historical ranking that has him at 41 to 45 out of 45. He wants to improve on that ranking.
Of course, the internet is full of new memes rehashing the old claims of Trump as a Russian agent. Any of the above would explain his actions to leave Ukraine without the intelligence to defend itself against missile attacks. Not too mention his cut off weaponry etc. All of this has emboldened Putin to fight for more. So now Trump has the problem of getting Putin back to the table.
The Europeans are rushing to fill in the void. Currently, the Ukrainian military has been supplied 20% by the US, 25% by Europe and others (Canada mostly), and 55% by the Ukrainians themselves. Their ability to change to a war economy in the middle of a war has been impressive. Obviously the Europeans need to fill in an additional 20% here. I’ve heard conflicting predictions ranging from no problem to not for another 2 years minimum.
The difficulty will be to replace the anti-missile technology, the intelligence and the communication that the US does better than the Europeans. Again, predictions vary but some say the Europeans should be able to replace Starlink, and the anti-missile technology; intelligence will be the hardest part.
Finally, war economies will lead to technological innovation, research and employment. Already the Euro is increasing and the European stocks are gaining in value. Meanwhile the US is hollowing out the state. Sure the billionaires in cabinet don’t need the state (but love the tax breaks) but the US economy will suffer. War is good for business…….
Decorum in the House??? Really?? A bit late to the party. In recent memory I can recall a gentleman yelling Liar at Obama and then there’s the two ladies screaming at Biden. People need to stop clutching pearls — in the Civil War era, fist fights broke out and challenges to a duel were issued. Give the reprimand and move on, it will happen again and from both parties. No need for hypocrisy here.
Most PAC and political groups are corrupt on both sides. The amount of money used in American politics never ceases to amaze me and most of it is legal. Here’s Trump getting into the action
Reminds me — the question is being raised how much insider trading is going on, each time a tariff is raised or scrapped there’s buying and selling opportunities.
