  1. Zelensky afraid he won’t be getting our tax dollars for his war….?

At a news conference Tuesday, Trump showed little patience for Ukraine’s objections to being excluded. He also said, without providing the source, that Zelenskyy’s approval rating stood at 4%, while telling reporters that Ukraine “should have never started” the war and “could have made a deal” to prevent it.

Zelenskyy replied Wednesday at his own news conference: “We have seen this disinformation. We understand that it is coming from Russia.” He said that Trump “lives in this disinformation space.”

  2. Re. Fort Knox: If there is truly $425 billion stored there, and we are $36 trillion in debt, then we would need approximately 85 Fort Knoxes in order to pay off the debt!

  3. Trump lashed out at Zelenskyy in a social media post that apparently referred to the fact that Ukraine has delayed elections that were scheduled for April 2024 because of the invasion.

Trump also called Zelenskyy “a modestly successful comedian” who “talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and ‘TRUMP,’ will never be able to settle.”

The president went on to say that the only thing Zelenskyy “was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle.’” He advised Zelenskyy to “move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.”

  4. It’s my understanding that the money in Ft Knox belongs to a number of different countries besides us. We presented ourselves as the “safest” and most ” stable” repository for the world’s largest gold holders. I’m afraid what an inventory might reveal.

  5. If/when Musk disconnects Starlink Zelensky will be toast and I think he knows it . We should really pray for the President Trump’s safety. I have read that there are quite an few Ukrainian military here in the US (with the CIA).

  6. Ben Shapiro:

Some absolutely heartbreaking news out of the Middle East. During Hamas’s horrific October 7th massacre, they kidnapped the Bibas family. The father was released alive, but it was feared that the two children and their mother had died. A gut-wrenching video of their abduction showed the mother carrying her two very small children-one just a couple of years old, and the other only nine months old.

Hamas has claimed that these children and their mother were killed in an Israeli airstrike in November

2023. However, they were only in Gaza because Hamas kidnapped them. Any tragedy that happened after that is solely on Hamas. The Bibas family became widely recognized across Israel, especially the young children with their red hair. Tragically, these innocent children and their mother were murdered while in captivity, and Hamas is entirely responsible for this loss.

Hamas is now expected to release the bodies of four Israeli hostages tomorrow. These children went in alive and will be coming out as deceased, and that tragedy is entirely on Hamas. Yet, despite this, there are still some who argue that Hamas should be allowed to control Gaza, and they even criticize President Trump for suggesting that people in Gaza should have the option to leave and find safer, better lives elsewhere. It’s important to recognize that offering no solutions other than continuing under the rule of a terror regime is simply not an option.

If you stand on the wrong side of this moral conflict, it’s clear where your values lie.

  7. “Zelensky has indefinitely canceled elections, remained in office long after the expiration of his term, banned nearly a dozen opposition political parties, revoked the citizenship of and sanctioned multiple opposition party members, sanctioned and frozen the assets of his predecessor as president, outlawed the country’s largest church, instituted comprehensive government censorship of the press, consolidated all TV networks into a single state-run organ, and threatened independent journalists with state surveillance and even conscription.”

  8. Oded Lifshitz, a devoted lifelong advocate for Palestinian rights and peace, dedicated his life to improving the well-being of Palestinians. He often went beyond words, actively assisting individuals by driving them to Israeli hospitals for essential medical care, demonstrating his compassion and commitment to humanitarian work. Tragically, during the brutal attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, Lifshitz was kidnapped and murdered, a loss that underscores the peril faced by those who strive for coexistence in a region marked by conflict.

Despite his unwavering efforts for peace, Lifshitz was targeted solely for his Jewish identity, highlighting the stark reality that groups like Hamas do not recognize or value the pursuit of peace. Instead, they prioritize violence and destruction. In a bittersweet resolution, Lifshitz’s body is set to be returned to Israel tomorrow, serving as a painful reminder of the ongoing conflict and the cost of standing for peace amidst the chaos.

  9. I’m reluctant to use historical analogies, but for the first time in my life I think a Munich analogy is appropriate. In 1938, Lord Chamberlain sold out Czechoslovakia to Hitler while the Czech leadership waited outside the room. Chamberlain returned to the UK bragging he brought back “peace in our time”.

Zelensky said out what the rest of the western world thinks — Trump lives in a Russia disinformation bubble. This in all likelihood motivate Trump’s post yet the post showed how far down the rabbit hole Trump has gone. Ukraine and Z did not start the war — Putin and Russia invaded and Ukraine defended itself. Although not as popular as in the past, polling suggests Z has about 57% support — higher than Trump…. not the 4% suggested by Trump

The delayed elections are not unusual in the case of war. The UK did not have an election from 1935 to 1945. And although attacked, the UK was in full control of its territory.

Trump’s actions and words represent a complete and abject capitulation to authoritarians at the expense of the western world of liberal democracies (liberal in the classical sense of free speech, free elections, free speech etc). This sums it up for me

  10. HRW, Unfortunately, I’m afraid Zelensky and his supporters are the ones living in a mis/disinformation bubble. And if he’s not careful, Trump will make a deal with Putin to buy Ukraine’s half of the valuable minerals; Putin’s forces are already sitting on the other half, and typically in a war, to the winner goes the spoils.

A new election would probably give Ukraine a chance at survival, I think. Otherwise, Musk will probably get the green light to pull the plug on Starkink and nature will take it’s bloody course. I prefer less bloodshed and a free, neutral, albeit much smaller, Ukraine. I think the President does too.

  11. Capitulation only encourages the autocrats, oligarchs and authoritarians. Liberal democrats whether they be democratic socialists on the left or conservatives on the right need to stay united against authoritarianism, otherwise we just encourage them — and there goes rule of law…..both domestically and internationally.

  12. We disagree about just who the authoritarian is. I have not forgotten the President was impeached over the corrupt government in Ukraine and their enablers and partners here. I don’t trust the government there. Perhaps Putin will prove equally untrustworthy, but he hasn’t yet. I’m willing to give Trump the leeway to deal with him. He’s doing well so far . It’s early days yet.
