Welcome to Winter again. We won’t see any temps above 20° until Thursday. I realize Canada is colder, but this former desert dweller can’t take the cold for very long.
Yeah, we got rain Saturday, which turned to a layer of ice under maybe three inches of snow Saturday night, and the wind made some weird drifts. I was unsure about venturing out to church (and not sure I had time to clean the car windows of ice anyway), and my husband didn’t want me to, so I livestreamed with him.
The highs this week: 18/15/20/17/27/32/42. We’ve had a lot of weeks like that this winter, far more than usual. My husband has had full weeks when he never ventured outside, and this may well be one of them. And for me, ice makes me nervous. I did go out for a walk yesterday afternoon, carefully, because there was snow over the ice and in some places clean, well plowed areas. But this winter reminds me of why I left Chicago!
Good morning, all. Another beautiful day here. We have warmed from the deep cold and are expecting snow for the next five days. This is the most winter we have had all winter, this three week section.
We had the opposite of Cheryl. We had a few inches of snow first, then sleet, then freezing rain. Now the temps are below freezing again, so there is ice everywhere. Due to the church parking lot turning into a “skating rink,” our ladies” Bible study for this evening has been cancelled.
I am so happy that I was able to cook a three pound turkey breast in my electric roaster oven and have it turn out perfectly. I previously cooked one in the crockpot and it was terribly tough. I salvaged it by finely chopping it and adding mayo and a few other goodies like chopped walnuts to make sandwich filling.
I did a bit of guessing on temp and time since I did not have a reliable Reynolds cooking bag. I used a foil tent. It worked so well to seal in moisture and flavor. Now I know how to do it for the future. I had felt like such a failure when the crockpot breast tuned out so tough. Never again!
You go, girl! Son made the turkey this past Christmas and it was delicious. The cut down the back and spread it out whatever that is called. Tender and juicy. I leave it to others.

Oh, yes, it is cold today and will get colder yet this afternoon and tomorrow. I am glad we should be able to stay in.

Good afternoon! We were in the 20’s overnight and now it’s up to 39° here, so chilly in Atlanta, too.

Mumsee – Last night you commented, “You never know, as you well know. Let all words be words of love. It could be goodbye for now or for eternity.”
That is how I have always thought, too.
