This area had so many car accidents that even today in my county we are considered in a State of Emergency although conditions are much better, and we have traffic on our street.
Many people had to spend the night in their stranded cars. One lady, on the interstate, maybe an hour and half south of Atlanta, had picked up her three young children, at least two in diapers, from daycare after work. They were stranded for fourteen hours! Without supplies. I can’t imagine.
Art spent a second night at the office. He could easily get out on the roads yesterday, in the area south of the airport, so he indulged in a meal at Waffle House.
Around here we’re told to put extra supplies like blankets and water in our cars in case we get stranded by the weather, but they never say anything about diapers.
I have an embargoed 18-page speech to go through this morning before hearing it live this afternoon.
Last I heard (late last night) it seemed that our latest fire was getting pushed back in fairly quick order, which is good news. More winds anticipated today and I haven’t checked on its status yet this morning.
Coffee is percolating. I’m still having what seem to be issues from a mild head cold, just not feeling tip-top.
I can’t imagine going anywhere without diapers when you have two in them. I can’t imagine what she went through in those 14 hrs. or those waiting for her. I sometimes wonder what the emergency is that some people must be on the road? Some are like my brother (and daughter) that driving down south in icy conditions is just not the thing to do. We have the equipment, although with the environmental concerns roads are not as safe now as they were in the past, IMO.
We are at -9 but are supposed to start a warming trend today. It’s the same pattern all winter so far, swinging from quite warm to way too cold.
She and all the others would not have been out, but the warnings got the timing and extent wrong. My friend here was mad at the weather people. I reminded her that many times things get shut down, school closed, etc. because of an expected storm that never shows. Occasionally they miss in the other direction as they did this time. I think it was in ’82 when we had SnowJam, and ’14 when we had Snowmegeddon. I have not heard a name for this one yet.
My friend said she will never trust the weather folks again.
The storm we had the previous week had more snow and possibility for this to happen, but the weather people got it right, and the snow/ice came early before people went into work. Everyone stayed off the roads. Not so this week.
In general, I wonder how many here find that Scripture supports women in the pulpit? As a member of a Southern Baptist church, I am pleased to not have women who are in a preaching position. I think the PCA takes that same stand? Are there Scriptures that people use to support having women in the pulpit?
The Methodist Church I previously attended has a woman in the role of lead pastor. I am sure she is a good and kind person, married to her husband. But it would be difficult for me to go back there although it is close enough that I could walk to it. I have given it a bit of thought, but can’t get past how I read and feel convicted by Scripture.
Before I read the Bible for myself, early in our marriage, we attended a downtown Atlanta Presbyterian (mainlne church). The lead pastor was a lady. We thought she did excellent sermons. I was happy with her.
Reading God’s word on the subject and taking it literally gave me a whole new perspective on God’s set order for the church leadership.
my dad and I got in from our morning walk. He did mention the house felt nice and warm. I offered to open the windows so we could catch some of the cool breeze (cold wind) we had been walking in if it was too warm. He told me to keep walking. Now you know where I get my humor.
It was about thirty out there with a cooling wind.
I had to laugh this week as I finally got done with the Wycliffe child safety course that I had put off for 2 1/2 years. Yup ever since I came home. So at the church board meeting they said that we now all had to take an online child safety course. I am glad that we are doing it but I did see God’s sense of humor in the timing.

My voice is currently in two places at once.
My husband suggested making a Zoom recording of my 2.5-hour December interview currently on my phone.
So, the interview is going on upstairs, Zoom is recording it, and when I’m done, I’ll ask for a transcript.

I feel so guilty for saying that we are at 45 and going up to 66. We could use some rain. I did just get a 320 dollar propane bill
need to work on child safety classes today. Not my favorite but good to do

It was 4° when we drove to Mountainair to pick up my car from the mechanic. I am NOT a fan of the cold.
