Good morning, everyone. Crispy cool and sunny today. We were going to vote yesterday but the line was out the door and around the building. I didn’t want Dad to stand in line that long so we’ll plan to go Tuesday or Wednesday. Lots of Harris bumper stickers and yard signs in my area.
mumsee! That gave me a start when I wasn’t fully awake!
I still need to go through the ballot, we have a long one this time and a number of propositions to sort through. I usually just fill out the mail-in ballot but then like to personally hand it off at the vote center to make sure it’s “in.”
For now, dealing with a rodent that’s made his way into the house, thanks probably to the sliding glass door being open so much for Abby, day and night. I’ve had a trap out for a couple days but I clearly need some better bait. I’ve suspected something was in here for the past few days, but this morning actually “got eyes” on the invader.
Friend is gearing up to “work the polls” – she and her husband have been going through lots of training. She said “as usual” she’s “over-studying.” 🙂
I’m not sure our polling places are open yet, to be honest. But they probably will be soon.
It’s been a long and busy week, kind of crashing today (after I get the mouse trap rebated which requires a trip to the grocery store; all I had on hand was some of that “healthy” peanut butter from Sprouts which the guest has clearly rejected, can’t say as I blame him/her).

Debra – When we were taking care of my MIL, who had Alzheimer’s, we found that we just had to laugh (although not in her presence) at some of the things she did, like hiding food in various and strange places. We were laughing at the situation, not laughing “at her”, so to speak.
Kizzie @11:45, so you will be glad to hear about the new bait I found in the refrigerator — a dab of the left-over pepperoni pizza from yesterday last night.
When trying to set a mouse trap (before Miss Bosley’s time), I found the corner off of a piece of cheese toast worked best. It required a tug by the critter and always worked. The peanut butter was just an appetizer that did not work here.
I’m using an electronic trap so the goal is getting them to go into the “tunnel” trap to get zapped (it also is supposed to be the most humane — not to mention fastest — way to kill a rodent).
So far the pizza hasn’t worked either.
(I’ve used these traps in the past and they usually do the job in one night; this appears to be a rat judging by the size, not huge, but not a little mouse either.)
Next up: I found some of the original oily peanut butter at Sprouts (3 shelves down below their recommended no-sweetened-no-salted dry versions – so this is not their approved ‘healthy’ kind but I suspect it is the tastiest).
But haven’t had to deal with this since Annie’s departure.
Stopped by my friend’s new cat/dog adoption center and cat lounge but they were closed. I’ll connect with her just to see if they might have a “good mouser” that could work out for me.
Turned out the same group was holding an adoption event today, so I went over there on a spur of the moment — know them well, have done a couple stories over the years including one recently which they appreciated so they were very happy I came by.
Also ran into an old neighbor there who’s still active in town and I hear from now and again, so she’s now involved in this particular rescue group.

I spoke with a neighbor down the street telling him I had voted for the local guy on his yard sign. Fortunately, he’d spoken to the guy with the Godzilla/Vance sign. Now I know the answer. A very reluctant voter for Trump. I did get to meet neighbor’s wife and they’d just been to the produce market and gave me two ripe tomatoes. So glad to get to know them since they have lived there a long time. Oldies like us.
I don’t know anyone who gets paid to put up signs for candidates. We sure never have been. I haven’t had one for years. I did say I would put one up this year but must have been overlooked when they brought them around. I haven’t bothered to mention it. I am not on a busy road.
haven’t heard from anyone in my family. I know another granddaughter is in town. I will drop by the coffee shop tomorrow and see if any of the grands are working

A new sign popped up in the Godzilla yard. It says: Abortion is Healthcare. Banning Abortion is Tyranny. Healthcare vs Tyranny. Get It?
I need Art to explain it to me because I just need everything set out straightforward.
I was dragging a bit on my walk. I have pushed it to be out there five days straight because the weather is perfect. I keep going a farther distance because I want to see the places I walked last spring.
I am like a child going trick or treating who knows where all the good candy can be found. I know where all the pretty flower gardens are 🙂
There are houses I walk by that I love to see, too.
Waiting for the game to start but got some lightly-used shoes dropped into the clothing donation bin near the UPS store (where I was returning a couple of Amazon items); then went to the grocery store across the street where I picked up some extras for the rodent traps.
Felt like I was “shopping for the rat” = “Hmm,” I’d think as I’d stop the cart on the sweet-spread aisle, “I wonder if he’d like some of this?”
These electronic traps should have worked by now. Maybe the California rodents are getting pickier, and our regular peanut butter doesn’t cut it for them anymore?
No one is banning abortion, unfortunately, but don’t let lying bother you.
Cheryl, I really enjoyed the article about the luthier using that old wood. I read parts to my husband. He is a luthier (or more accurately, was) and appreciated it. He made fiddles, however, much is similar about the sound of different woods.
2-1 Dodgers … Dodger stadium is packed (reminds me of when my dad would take me to sit in the “cheap” seats — $1.50 I think — which were basically just bare bleachers in the outfield.
It’s a warm night here, too – perfect baseball weather.

It’s probably easy to pay someone to put a sign in their yard so they have some grocery money.
It’s still chilly here but has warmed up. Such beautiful weather especially appreciated since all the chemical fire smoke seems gone.

I saw where prices for cocoa (and thus chocolate candies) have gone up this year — impacting Halloween shoppers and kids everywhere.
