But all citizens have already been presented an opportunity to register to vote as part of the process of renewing or being issued an identification card or driver’s license, so there is no obvious need to assist citizens to register to vote outside DPS offices-calling into question the motives of the nonprofit groups.”

    AG Paxton has also launched an investigation into the findings. I expect arrests, charges, and imprisonment.”

    -Tim Walz created a government hotline to snitch on neighbors who didn’t practice enough “social distancing” during Covid. Even while he banned people from going to church or attending funerals, Walz copied Andrew Cuomo’s policy of sending sick people into nursing homes, which caused huge numbers of deaths.

    -Tim Walz practiced race-based discrimination in rationing Covid treatments in 2021. White people were given lower priority for treatment, purely based on skin color, according to Walz’s policies.

    -Tim Walz said that his “core values” are DEI, and upon taking office vowed to “double down” to “operationalize equity.”

    -Tim Walz gave free health care, college tuition, and driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.

    -When the mayor of Minneapolis begged Tim Walz to call out the National Guard to contain the George Floyd riots, Walz refused to do anything for 20 hours. That delay allowed BLM radicals to burn down the Third Precinct police station.

    -Walz let his daughter leak Guard’s deployment plans online, so that rioters would know how long they had to loot and terrorize the city with impunity

    -Tim Walz literally doubled Minnesota’s murder rate in just three years.

    -Tim Walz presided over the single biggest fraud case of the Covid period, letting Somali immigrants plunder more than $250 million through the Feeding our Future scam.

    -Walz created a sweeping race-based quota system throughout the Minnesota state health department.

    -Tim Walz drove drunk, blew a .128, pleaded guilty, then spent decades lying about it, saying he actually flunked a field sobriety test due to “deafness.”

    -Tim Walz signed a law not only making abortion legal up to the moment of birth, but removing any requirement to care for infants born alive from botched abortions. In Minnesota, babies born alive after a botched abortion can be left to die or actively killed, and no law is broken.

    -Tim Walz’s education department is imposing a new state social studies curriculum centered on Critical Race Theory buzzwords like “Identity,” “Resistance,” and “Ways of Knowing.”

    -Tim Walz wants to roll back the First Amendment in order to criminalize speech he considers “misinformation” about “our democracy.”

    -Tim Walz pointlessly lied about using IVF so that he could make a dishonest attack on President Trump and JD Vance.

    -Tim Walz put tampons into boys’ bathrooms.

    The DNC will put on a ridiculous show of Walz as a folky, middle-American moderate tonight. It’s a lie.

    Walz would be the second-most radical person ever elected vice president – second-most, because first place goes to the person at the top of the ticket he’s running on.”

But there is a difference between reading and sharing. Especially as people of The Truth, we should be careful about what we share, particularly about what certain persons may have said or done. As I have posted on Facebook in the past, “If you don’t have time to verify, then you don’t have time to share.”

    That was a good idea to alert the person who tweeted that post. I would be interested in hearing what they may reply, if they do.

    Can I be the czar?

    Journalism is a private business, not run by the government or any other single entity, and we definitely like it that way in the U.S.; so it’s always wise for readers to be careful of the news they consume. There are good outlets, bad outlets and many in between.

    My point was that we (most legitimate news organizations) work under ethics policies and standards (ours are very long and quite strict when it comes to public political expression; some political journalists have been known to take it upon themselves not vote — something we, of course, are allowed to do, but in our particular case we are prohibited from signing petitions, driving (for work) in a car with a partisan bumper sticker, being at all active in politics or political groups, etc.

    At least 2 editors reading and going over our copy; we understand many of the basic rules of journalism regarding never relying on 1 source. If we make a factual error — or one occurs via poor information we’ve received — a couple editors and the reporter are all involved in crafting and posting corrections.

    The point was that legitimate outlets operate under editors and ethics guidelines.

    Folks posting randomly online? Not required to abide by anything other than their own political aims. So more caution, I still argue, is definitely needed there for readers.

  24. Editors and multiple checks for accuracy are great but sometimes it’s the omission of important news facts can really distort what people base decisions on. That has been the problem with main stream sources for quite a number of years. That has allowed other sources to gain importance.

  27. I finally got a chance to watch Walz’ speech. Again, I am astounded at the blatant lying. I also wonder (again) why Dems are never called out for the nasty things they say about their opponents (let alone). I would beware of Walz and believe little of what he says.

  28. @1:44 Janice — good editors also will guard against that. “Did you call for a response?” Most reporters, of course, know to do that anyway and have all of that covered in a story they’re turning in.

    That said, it’s how it is supposed to work, but nothing is perfect (or perfectly executed in a fallen world with staff cuts and the workers still on staff having to do way too much).

    But that framework is there and in place and where I am we still see those “best practices” in play.

  33. I kind of miss the days when media could be trusted and journalism was an almost heroic calling. But we live in a far far away kingdom now. I got a subscription to the New York Times in 2016 because I thought I should be more well rounded and I thought if anyone could provide it, they could. I didn’t keep the subscription more than a month or so. Some of the opinion pieces put out by the editorial board would barely compare positively to a 7th grade essay–both in wording and thinking. I certainly wouldn’t trust them to edit actual news. It’s a shame they have degenerated. But perhaps it’s best that we all know that we have to be vigilant for ourselves. No one can do it for you.
