Good morning. It will be a crazy day of performing today for us. They play at a nursing home and then have to pack up all the equipment quickly and head to another nursing home to perform for a couple of hours. The latter place will be set up outdoors and it will be in the eighty’s temperature-wise.
Yesterday they performed at a monthly gig. One of the women is so appreciative, always telling each member what a blessing they are. The days get long in these places. Yes, some find friends, but often family and friends are left behind and do not visit as much as they should. I have been guilty myself. It is difficult to understand when you are not there yourself.
It is warmish here once again and the storms are missing us! Hoping we will see moisture soon.
Kathaleena what a blessing and bright spot in the day you all are. I can just imagine the smiles and tapping toes of those being ministered to by the musicians ❣️🎼
Good morning. Another beautiful day here. Temps ninety five to one hundred the next four days, then back to the eighties.
Grandchildren arrive today, probably delivered by estranged daughter who lived here a year or so while pregnant and first year of her daughter’s outside the womb time before deciding we were awful people.
Son was here last night. He says he plans to talk with his sisters someday, to ask them some questions. Though they were all raised by us in similar ways, why does he have a great relationship with us and they don’t?
I answered for them. Because we can say, “wear your seatbelt” or “stop drinking so much”, he can say “no”, and he knows we still love him and will continue to love him. They don’t see that. They think if somebody does not agree with them, the person does not love them.
Yes, Lookout Mountain, near the hang glider takeoff field below. It was too early in the day to support the air currents needed for flying gliders
Mumsee, you need to always keep perspective that you and M fostered those damaged long before you got them. They are not cookie cutter kids with similar brain functioning. I know you know this, but son probably does not realize that. Y’all have been miracle workers in my opinion.
A new friend picked me up and she and my Marta Mobility friend had breakfast at our new Chick-fil-A. It seems crazy, but the new Chick-fil-A has no drive through. They have shut down the old Chick-fil-A, few blocks down the street, that was always packed with lines of cars. IMO, someone has goofed in their business decision. Very sad. Empty this a.m. for breakfast and empty at 7 p.m. for dinner last week. The parking lot was full of parked cars which seemed to be the old strategy of getting cars for a lot just to make it look like a busy place. Maybe people were in the cars waiting for food to be delivered to them that they ordered online, but I don’t think so.
My new friend and her husband had been in my Sunday school class but they had reason to go back to their former church. So glad to find she and Marta Mobility friend are long time friends. God is busy making supernatural connections in my life.
Ann Arbor is finally getting a Chick-Fil-A. Until now the only one within 25 miles has been at the Eastern Michigan University student center in Ypsilanti, which is not easily accessible unless you’re on campus for other reasons. So we’re really glad to be getting one in Ann Arbor.
However the new one won’t have a drive-through either. The shape of the property and the surrounding buildings won’t accomodate a drive-through. I hope they make a good go of it. We’ll be there for sure. Maybe because it’s the only one for miles it will do a good business.
We do have another one on an ajoining street maybe a mile and a half away with dining and drive thru. Another one is on the same road the newest is on about three miles in the opposite direction. We are saturated. This newest is right beside the old mall being demolished and replaced with multi- use office, retail, and living spaces. From that angle,, Chick-fil-A is getting ahead of the new construction. But in the mean time, it seems DOA.
The Chick-fil-A we occasionally go to is a couple towns over, about a 25 minute drive. We only do that if we are going to be in that town for some other reason.
Here in our smallish town, the big name restaurants we have are a McDonald’s, a Dunkin Donuts (or maybe it’s just called Dunkin now), and a recently opened Domino’s Pizza (which I am not too impressed with). Pretty sure that’s it.
But we have some good local restaurants, too, which are better than the chain places we have.
We had an early work call today due to the outage story, but now the editor has given me a little time off on the other end of the day, which is nice, especially on a Friday.
Just got in from hauling the trash bins back up the driveway, the pickup process wound up dumping some of the gardener cuttings into the street so first I had to sweep all of those up and toss them back into the bin. Trying to cool off from that by sitting in front of the fan.
Have a couple new LL Bean sweaters drying outside on the drying racks in the sun … they should be ready to bring in shortly.
Need to walk Abby today, missed the walk yesterday, but will wait until 8 p.m. or so — it’s still light out (barely) and it’s also so much cooler by then.
Coincidental to hear on the news this evening that for the first time Chick-fil- A has fallen from 1st place to 3rd in fast food sales. Del Taco was 1st and KFC was 2nd.
Lookout Mountain?

Outage issues affecting ports and airport; but on the plus side my work email miraculously is working again. So far.
Cloudy and 67 currently but going up to 77 today.

We have a couple Chick-Fil-A’s here, but none that are particularly on any route that I normally drive these days.
Back a few years ago there was one in the mall next door to our newsroom, so a few of us would walk over there to pick up lunch to go on occasion.

I don’t think there is one in our port town, but in cities around us.

Local restaurants Rock! The best by far.
I heard one of the ladies I dined with like to go to Dairy Queen for breakfast. I never even knew that was an option.

my life is about to change. Son texted that he is sending his sweet daughter down for a week, in a week
then the week after that my oldest Colorado granddaughter said she might be coming for three months
she is close to her cousin here so she will probably be in and out
who knows
and she doesn’t have a car

just did my walking in the pool. Forward, backward and sideways. Then I put the noodles under my arms and just hung to extend my spine

Now it’s walk time for Abby. No noodles involved, although she’d like some actual noodles I’m sure …
