  1. Happy Birthday Michelle!

Sorry your Monday started off with frustration and praying for you still Aj.

It is is the 50’s cloudy and windy this morn. Feels like Autumn! We needed the rain that was all about us but not upon us yesterday! This pine pollen needs a good washing away! Time to clean this house! I got a hand held steamer and love cleaning with it!

  2. Good late morning. I went to Walmart early. I had purchased some glass jars with tops online to use for juicing. When I received them I noticed they seemed to have seams on the side of the jars or bottles unlike what I am used to. I decided to return them. I can find something I already have to make do. I am trying to get brave enough to use my new juicer. I have to work myself up for new kitchen adventures.

  3. Happy Birthday Michelle!

It’s still June Gloom on the coast, sweatshirt weather — but I think the heater is now off for good until the end of this year (so the gas bill finally will go down); friend in Arizona, meanwhile, is baking w/triple-digit temps there.

Need to bump and reschedule a dr. appt this week due to port news conference.

Forgot to pick up some sparkling water at the grocery store this weekend so I put in an online order that arrived late last night — I noticed the instacart person who handled it is also one of our young freelance photographers. Small order, but I would have upped the tip had I known that 😦

  4. Dj, I read a good portion of that article/review of books. It appeals to those who are interested in the extremism and division, the sensationalism that makes people want to buy books. From what I see here with my own eyes in this vicinity, there is not evident such a wide division except on the issues of abortion and allowable sexual practices of those who seek membership or to become part of church staff (that has not changed as God’s word has not changed over the years). Perhaps we, being Southerners, are just behind the times of what these books portray. There is a sweetness here, like our sweet tea. I see people who were raised in the church where I am a member coming back to be a part again. Truly, it is sweet. And the black and white mix is sweet. We are blessed indeed.

  5. Random comment:

When we went to the Swan Coach House on Friday, my friend ordered an appetizer for us all to share. It was Mac and Pimento Cheese Fritters on top of a bed of Sun-Dried Tomato Sauce. It was truly decadent. It was good but too greasy and salty for my preferences, but even so, I gobbled up one. My friends ate more. I had grilled salmon on a bed of cous cous along with sweet potato fries which were a beautifully prepared waffle cut fry like the regular fries served at Chick-fil-A. My friend had to get a second order of those since she liked them so much.

  6. Thank you all! It’s been a perfect day, so far, just bumbling around and doing random stuff. I’m about to take a walk.

I leave in a few weeks and have been focusing on getting the writing life in order so I can abandon it for . . . nearly 6 weeks!

That means I’ve written a lot of blog posts, have finished one newsletter, and made a dent on another. I’ve got things coming down soon that should go into the July newsletter, but they won’t get here until like, the day before we leave.

    That will be close.

I’m getting ready to retire from my job of 20+ years, which has a variety of emotions attached to it. My daughter-in-law will take my place, so I’m busy, busy, busy cleaning out files at work and destroying them.

Meanwhile, Adorables have awakened to the fact they can earn money scanning, and now want to scan.

I wasn’t prepared for that, so my office is strewn with family photos somebody needs to sort for the scanners.

Hill is here from Sicily, Stargazer is coming home for the weekend to hunt for wedding venues, and the prayer appointments do not end.

Most of the trip is organized–with a surprise stop, now, at one of my most astonishing research serendipities. We have plans literally, practically to drive past his house.

So, now they’re serving us lunch in Adelaide!

It’s birthday season, graduation season, oh my, so much.

A fun-filled glorious life for which I am very thankfu.

Even if we did cancel our newspaper subscription yesterday.

Anything going on in the news world? 😦

  7. I’m writing about high school graduations. After 2 stories before that, including one about a the demolition of a port calciner facility. What’s that? The info I was given didn’t say, so it was calls to figure that out. The other was a Caltrans plan (which will not go over well) about a redesign of a major roadway to include bike lanes.

But a fun life sounds like fun ! lol Glad you’re having a good day Michelle.

I am taking tomorrow off — but for a doctor’s appt. See? The fun never stops.

    Is Monday over yet?

Janice, this ‘mood’ has been building for several years, the intensity and extremism on both sides of politics and, unfortunately, affecting some churches as well. It is concerning.

    But God …

  8. Happy birthday, Michelle. We had a wonderful few days with family. We will bring our daughter to the airport tomorrow, so life will return to normal, I guess.

There was only one poppy open when we left on Saturday. We came back to many open. Absolutely stunning. Difficult to enjoy anything outside for long, however, since the mosquitoes are horrendous.

The chipping sparrow is not so quick to leave the nest anymore. I can peak around the corner, and she will just watch me. She will stay close to chirp a warning or scolding when I am near the nest. I don’t blame her, but I was here first. 😉
