  1. Continuing to lift up Melania Trump, our sister in Christ, as she goes through such a difficult time. May God hold her close and give her His peace and joy.

  2. Mumsee – I had not heard that Melania is a believer. I have prayed for her salvation, and hope this is true.

(Not that I doubt you, but news is not always accurate on those things. An actor I liked a lot was touted as being a Christian, which I believed for a while. But then I read about his actual beliefs, and was sad to see that they were not Christian.)

Please pray for dear Chickadee. Her beloved cat Rudy has not been doing well, and has lost a lot of weight. He has an appointment at the vet for 4:00 this afternoon, which she and one of the McKs will be taking him to.

I fear that it may be bad news for Rudy, and Chickadee is going to be devastated if it is. Praying that in her grief (or in her relief, if it turns out he’s not terminal), she will turn to God and be saved.

  3. Kizzie, I have no knowledge of what people say. My thoughts are based on what I have seen of her actions and heard from her words and her impact on her husband. I believe she is Catholic but don’t know that.

  4. Hard if not impossible to know the faith (or lack thereof) of those we don’t interact with personally — or otherwise have extensive knowledge of their beliefs and lifestyles.

So I tend also to pray for salvation, that even small hints that they may have come to faith might be true and blossom.

Those in the limelight, political or otherwise, live with many worldly distractions. Not that God can’t break through all of that, but we don’t really know in most cases.

  5. Prayers for Chickadee and Rudy. God blesses us with our animal companions in such unseen ways. But the blessings are there and we usually see and feel them.

  6. There are so many levels to salvation from baby Christian to fully mature on this side of heaven, that it is difficilt to know. Some baby Christians will still appear more worldly and caught up in distractions because they are still in the beginnings of developing their spiritual disciplines. We make errors in judging either way because only God knows their heart’s standing with Him. It does seem to be a matter of grace-giving to think the best of people who appear they might be Christian and encourage them in their faith walk so as to help move them further along their path. Praying for them is a i think a lot aboug lways good. I think a lot aboug thossd’s in regards yo mu close fridnd, K, who always keeps me guessing her status. I have resolved tha God knows. I am to pray, encouage, and think the best.

  7. Coming to faith is a process for all of us — it takes a move of God within us first — but changes can usually be seen rather soon in most as growth begins (even if slowly).

Others (this was me) use that initial “drawing” period to ponder — and watch. I remember some professing believers seemed consistent, others not as much. Hmm. I was shy about announcing my faith for some of those reasons.

The world and nonbelievers around us do watch, something I’ve always kept in mind. Pray and be aware of my own consistency (or lack of it in too many instances).

Are we consistent with what we say we believe? Is there evidence? Not to say we’re not all (terribly still) flawed and will blow it on occasion or even often in some cases and seasons of life. But I think God wants us to be aware of how we “preach,” with and without words, to those watching.

  8. Sanctification takes a lifetime. It’s a long road and we’ve never fully arrived in this world.

(and God does prepare those whom he elects in the beginning; in His appointed time and place we hear the gospel that then converts)

  9. One dramatic change in a person was a man in my former church. He was a miser, even leaving lights off when his wife was coming home from working late in the evening. The day he “got saved”, he came home and turned on all the lights for her. 🙂

Of course, there were other changes, but that one was a biggie for him at the time.

  10. With some people it is difficult to guage a change. My friend has so many health issues and only goes to doctor appointments. Vision issues prevent much reading. Outward changes under the circumstances are not easily observed, but I listen for changes in attitudes and interests, but sometimes meds and depression can mask the truth God sees.

Similar things might be at work in the lives of those in busy political lifestyles. Much on the outside would for practical purposes appear the same. But attitudes and interests would be shifting.
