Good morning! It’s the time of the year to hear mowers buzzing in the neighborhood. I hope my mower is set right for sod. I know nothing about mowing sod. Old dog learning new tricks.
Good morning, all. A beautiful day here and a beautiful realigning of thoughts this morning as my reading in Proverbs (surely there is a future. And your hope will not be cut off) lined up beautifully with my reading in Luke, the road to Emmaus when the walkers were saddened at the end of their dreams only to be met in their sorrow with the risen King bringing secure hope for the future! Of course, then I had to run to the end of Revelation and read of the new heavens and new earth and the King reigning.
morning! Daffies!!! So beautiful and hopeful for new life coming!
We still hear snow throwers Janice and our’s is at the ready for more snow tomorrow and the coming days. But as for today we have sunshine, blue sky and a touch of warmth.
We watched our grandson’s baseball game last night…they won. I still find it hard to believe he is graduating in a couple of months. Such a fine young man is our Sam. Praying God’s direction for his life. Nj
No mowers here right now, either. I love to see the wild daffodils. We do not see them around here. I do have ones I planted bloom, but it will be a while before they can do that.
Daffodils are wide open here. I believe we have three shifts of them so these bloom, then the next and then some more about when the tulips show. For now, crocus are finishing, daffodils and mountain lilies are beautiful.
World’s article on feeding America really hits it. We deal with that all the time in trying to help our twenty two daughter. The community is constantly giving her food and money and laundry services etc. so basically all she has left is to complain. What happens to her when all the nice older people die off?
Daffodils have been in full bloom for a couple of weeks here, forsythia is in bloom all over (and super early), and I saw the first violets this week (they too are early). We have a tulip tree in our neighborhood that has large pink magnolia-type blossoms (darker pink than the birthday tree), and its buds actually have two coverings over them before they bloom . . . but they aren’t quite cold-hardy enough for our area, and most years the poor thing starts to bud or bloom just as we get hit with a hard frost or a winter storm with driving wind and rain.
This is our sixth to seventh spring here (we moved here in May, so it will be our seventh summer ahead), and this is only the second time the tree has successfully bloomed. It really only squeezed it in, though, because it bloomed super early, and after it had reached nearly full bloom, we had at least two nights in the twenties.
I woke up to the familiar sounds of rain dripping down the drain pipes from the gutters. Everything is wet — Charlie Brown 2 is glistening with water drops, but I’m pretty sure it was only a smattering of rain. But then again, I was asleep, sleeping in late during this long weekend.
Yesterday I pulled the car out on the driveway from the carport to let the rain wash off the yellow pine pollen. The car was near my neighbors shedding pear tree. I traded pine pollen for confetti sized pear petals all over the car. I went out and cleared it all off this morning. Last time I went out, the car had the Midas touch, a golden sheen of pine pollen, lol
I just learned from my online UK friend that instead of buggies or grocery carts, there they are known as supermarket trolleys. This is the friend who has a cat which looks just like Miss Bosley. That is Charlie, and he is seventeen and only has three legs. He is swerter than the Queen B.
We get dust from the golf course driveway behind us. Or sap from oak trees if we don’t park under the carport. So keeping the cars clean is impossible.
Speaking of cats, I had a strange snippet of a dream — I was walking with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while, heading for her place, when we stopped at a little neighborhood “pocket park.” There were animals in the park, including a lion who began running toward me.
But I thought, well, this is a cute little city park, surely the lion is tame?
My dream didn’t include what happened next.
Looking forward to church in a little while and despite staying up too late I was up by 7 a.m. so have plenty of time. And I filled up with gas late yesterday so I don’t have to worry about stopping for that. Today’s sermon is on Luke 3:15-20, “Baptism of Fire.”
My friend took me to Sunday school and church. She really appreciated all the visuals our Sunday school teacher put together on the screen to aid in teaching. It is the best Sunday school class I have ever been in, and I am glad Art likes it so much. He just can’t be there durng main tax season.
We went for lunch at Bambinelli’s Italian restaurant. The chicken picata was a great choice.
Our Sunday school class is in Daniel 9. A very interesting study. Since so many of us are hard of hearing we have hand mics scattered around the room and when you want to make a comment you look for a mic.
The leader wrote the study book. He is quite gifted.

Tulips are blooming here, and it seems early. I also saw a stand of white iris in full bloom a couple of days ago.

I just bought a hyacinth in a glass vase at the grocery store. I can hardly wait for it to bloom and fill the house with scent.

Janice, swerter? Usually I can figure them out, but I don’t know if that is supposed to be smarter, svelter, or something else. 🙂

Miss Bosley has moments of sweetness, but I think Charlie cat is sweet all the time. I am thankful his owner is a Christian and very nice.

Good morning, all. Another beautiful misty foggy rainy morning here. Should be just us and one other family at church this morning.

My dad was anxious to be ready for church on time so that’s done and we wait until time to go. May God open the eyes of his heart and set him free.
