Good morning! Chilly out now, but will warm up nicely.
I looked at a gift registry for a young couple getting married and was surprised to see some games in the mix of the usual wants. One I’d never heard of: Secret Hitler.
Morning Janice. I decided not to make another long drive today. I could feel the stiffness and the sciata in my leg after all of the driving on Friday and Saturday.
I think that I will go out for tea this week. There is a tea house near here called A Cause for Tea. I have seen many go there, but haven’t been myself. I will see if my friend can go.
I was just out clearing the snow off the deck so my dad can walk later. The wind was such that when I came in to check on him, I put a sweatshirt on before going out. Feels low teens out there.
Lead-colored sky here this morning, were probably in the lower 60s for highs all week with more rain possibly next weekend.
I’m off today and tomorrow to take care of some errands that just had to get done — MRI on that other knee in a couple hours at the hospital down the street, fix my twisted reading glasses at eye doctor’s office, and take that DMV test for a 2nd time and hope I can pass. I’ve been going through all the practice questions and tests on YouTube this weekend, will do some more today as I think I’ll plan to take the test tomorrow to give myself more study time. You can take it 3 times and I’m not sure what happens to you after that. DMV jail?
I plan to leave here on Friday and spend two days with my daughter near Denver and then fly home on Sunday. Next week is busy with bible study bsf, perhaps jury duty, maybe haircut and chiropractor, and then see the orthopedist.
I was reading a weather report of heavy snow in my area this weekend.
I was going to ask my daughters for a ride home but they may have too much snow. Need to get in touch with my son to get my tickets.
Kizzie, haha. And yes, I even have a bike in the garage, just need to inflate those tires and put a headlight and horn on it. I think it does have a bell. ding-ding-ding, here I come.
Now they have those motorized bikes. Lots of steep hills around here.
MRI is done, I really don’t like those things but can tolerate it for things like a knee when at least your head is left out of the tube. They gave me headphones with classical music, but I did a fair amount of praying and pondering while (mostly) inside. And it was only about 20 minutes, so not bad. But funny when they tell you you can’t move how you just want to wiggle your toes, flex your legs … I behaved and was good.
My friend who passed away in 2021 reached the point where she refused to have any MRIs, she was super claustrophobic. I get it, I’ve only been in one of those things “all the way” once and not sure I could do it again.
Now off to the eye doctor’s office to see if they can fix my reading glasses.
After the doctor’s office, I may take a spin by the DMV to see how crowded it looks. I suppose I could take the test today — and if I fail again I could always pull an all-nighter study session, go back again tomorrow and try again on a final attempt.
It’s 74° now. Wish I could be outside more. I still need to keep whittling down belongings so there are less indoor chores to do. I have spent most of the morning making contact with people about two upcoming events to up attendance.
DJ – Whenever I should be sitting still, or mostly still, I get itches in various places. That happens at church a lot, and I realize that between scratching itches and shifting my position and whatnot, I move a lot. Hubby could sit almost absolutely still in church or watching TV, but I can’t.
His mom was the same way, and would get annoyed at Nightingale for lightly bobbing her crossed leg up and down. But I understood!
Last Sunday, a friend who usually sits elsewhere sat next to me when she noticed that the friend I usually sit with was not there. I couldn’t help but notice that this friend moved around maybe even more than I do, and I felt better! :-D
BTW, I only mean small movements, like doing something with our hands, or shifting position of our feet – things like that, not movements that would distract others. (Well, except for my MIL, but she was super zeroed-in on what others were doing wrong in her eyes.)
Do even small movements in an MRI and the images are blurred. I understand that, but it’s hard. I think that and the colonoscopies are tests someone needs to perfect so they’re not so uncomfortable for people!
OK, got the glasses fixed AND … drumroll … I passed the DMV test, though misted 3 I think (maybe 2?) but you’re allowed 6, or 5, can’t remember. I was relieved when it was over (they tell you the ones you miss as you’re going along, causing me to groan each time).
The practice tests are great but there are so many questions on the real test that aren’t on any of the practice tests I’ve taken. They should make practice tests in a set and tell you ALL the questions you will encounter on a real test are included jumbled with those.
Anwyay, the DMV drama is done, I’m staying out of jail. And I got a new temporary license printout so now have that until the real one arrives in a month or so.
My GP did ask if I wanted a tranquilizer for the MRI but realizing from my last knee test that my upper part of my body, importantly my head, would be out I said no, I should be fine.
Maybe could have used that tranquilizer for the DMV test, though!
I’ve had one MRI and it didn’t bother me at all–I attribute that maybe to childhood camping. We would have trailers that had a bed in the back (for Mom and Dad), a table that folded down into a bed for one or two small people (one or two brothers would sleep there, the others on cots outside), and a shelf over the table that I think was meant to sleep one person in a pinch, or maybe it wasn’t even supposed to be a bed, I don’t know. My sister and I would sleep on the shelf, and I had to sleep in the back because she couldn’t handle it. Sleeping in the back meant sleeping with my nose two or three inches from the ceiling, one arm against the wall, and the other arm against my sister. After that an MRI is just a temporary inconvenience!
Kizzie, I too cannot sit perfectly still. I tend to sleep in one position (once I get to sleep) but during the daytime I’m in constant motion.
I’ve had one MRI and my head was way in the tube. I never thought I would be claustrophobic, but I found out I was slightly. The thought of how I would get out if we had an earthquake came to me. Lol. We don’t get earthquakes, at least not normally. I had music on, and it was tough to not move my foot to the beat.
When I listen to music my foot is always tapping. If not my foot, my hands or fingers are moving. It amazes me that some people don’t move at all.
Congrats on passing the test, Dj. I am sure it is a relief for you.
Oh, I got so much experience in keeping still for radiation treatments over the heart and lungs. It was a series of hold your breath, don’t move, and you can breath now. Over and over for about twenty minutes for thirty days, but fortunately I have never done an MRI😀
I am a mover, too. It burns calories so is better than keeping very still. I can’t stay perfectly still during the music at church as some people appear to do.
