  1. Happy Birthday, Jo! May it be a blessed day full of all you hope it to be along with some extra unexpected delightful surprises!

It’s another start in the thirties and rise up to warm by the afternoon kind of day. I like to walk at dusk since it’s easy on my eyes. The chill begins to creep back in then.

I am trying to decide about going to the ladies brunch at church Saturday. I can ask someone from my former church to attend with me. It still has been hard to feel very connected with the ladies at my new church. I am so connected with the ladies at my former church. Having the vision problems makes it more complicated to try to make new friends. We are suppose to play games and I don”t know if it will require abilities I no longer have. I guess I can just watch if need be, but that makes me feel sad.

  2. Happy Birthday Jo

Janice, prayers for whatever you decide, but I do hope the way will open than you can go. That awkwardness we all — or many of us, anyway — sometimes feel never really goes away in new settings, does it?

I finally finished my huge election preview of all the candidates (18) running for four LA school board seats and turned it in late yesterday. Whew! That was torture, took me the better part of 4 work days, brought not a small number of personal meltdowns and a shout or two out loud, even some tears of frustration, some unkind thoughts about editors and management.

    But, it’s done.

We had another cloud burst last night with rain blowing and pounding on my windows. Before that and after work I was able to get to the pharmacy to pick up 4 prescriptions that were waiting for me. $$$

Poor Abby is so anxious to get back to our evening walks, last night looked hopeful for a little bit but the rain — light all night except for that downpour — just hadn’t completely blown out of here yet.

Today is a a regular port commission meeting to cover. Nice to get back to ‘normal’ daily stories.

  3. Good morning, all. A touch of snow here this morning. But spring is definitely in the air.

Husband is off to Lewiston to try to get that nine thousand plus bill from social security resolved.

Children are off to work where twenty six is supervising them doing sanding in a friend’s house while he does taping and mudding.

My dad and I are “watching” golf.

  4. Abby does this whole slow, ‘high-stepping’ walk when she goes out to the mud-filled backyard now, it’s so funny to watch her.

Me, I just have to watch to make sure there isn’t mud on a sidewalk to slip on (we walk at night). You have ice, we have mud. Ice is worse, but mud can cleverly disguise itself after dark 🙂

And it’s cold and windy here today, but we are getting spots of sunshine now and again.

  5. We have clay mud, nasty slippery stuff. I try to stick with the grass. Falling down is not my cup of tea either.

Back to Milton Friedman and Free to Choose.

    And happy birthday, Jo!

  6. We are on red clay as well, Janice. Horrible when the grass was off while the house was being built. Hence, the puddles in our yard right now.

We have rain in February, and no one is happy about that. We still have some snow, but it is going fast. That does not bode well when temps get cold again. We would so much just prefer colder weather with snow as it should be.

  7. Hi NJ!

Warmer up north this year, thanks to El Niño; wetter through the southwest, colder in the southeast, dry in the northeast.

  8. I am on the new computer so can’t like things. I so much wanted to like NJ’s post!

My friend is supposed to stop by and pick up some food I made for her. She has been caring for a relative in the hospital.

    It feels cold out again.

I was looking for a new book to listen to on Audible from my library. I accidentally hit on Magnolia by Chip and JoAnna Gaines. I started listening. More interesting than I had expected. I just finished Kingdom Authority by Tony Evans.

  9. Happy birthday, Jo!

Registration for summer camp opened up this week. We only have 471 registered so far. We usually have 800 the first day. Hoping and praying that registrations pick up and more campers get to hear about Jesus.
