  4. On a lighter note, the big news here is that the man who stole THE ruby slippers from the Judy Garland Museum has been sentenced. He is not going to jail, however. He is old and supposedly too infirmed. That is a dilemma since he clearly deserves jail time. OTOH, then we have to pay for all his health care. The slippers had been missing for 13 years. The thief is quite a character.

  6. This is what happens when Rs sit quietly as Jan6ers are persecuted. It only enboldens Biden and Dems to target other enemies in the R party. Speak up, or expect more of this.

  8. This is not our country anymore. The cost of being nice or the cost of closing our eyes to sin or the cost of taking our eyes off Him or time for refinement of the church?

  9. Yes, Mumsee. All that and also in God’s perfect timing.

i read in Genesis today that the Jews were in the wilderness for 400 years because the Amorites had not gotten to the peak of their sinfulness, to the point when God would remove them from the Promised Land .I believe that was in Genesis 15:15

  10. God doesn’t rely on what happens to America — let alone the outcome of an American election — for his will to be done.

He does care about the means we as believers use and show the world in all spheres of life (see the many, many Scripture verses about that topic).

He’ll handle the end, how it all turns out.

Praying and carrying on is what’s before us: serving our neighbors, loving our enemies, showing grace to the lost, being faithful to Christ’s teachings.

No worry, no nail biting. God’s got this (whether we “like” the outcome or not).

  11. Yes, God has it in all the other countries suffering persecution. He had it during the Nazi era in Germany also. Expressing concern is not worry.

Being light and salt has never been easy in the whole history of the world. Nor is it easy to know always how each person should do this. Our brothers and sisters in other countries and other eras certainly have found that out.

  12. Janice, I think he would have to cut off half his foot to wear those shoes. Isn’t it fun that little girls can now have all kinds of fancy shoes? We sure never had that option when I was a child. That makes for more choices and more cause for argument, no doubt between parent and child.

I am glad they finally picked up the illegal immigrant Somali terrorist who was in the country for a whole year after being let go earlier. He was arrested in MN. Better late than never, I suppose. I am concerned we will have another September 11th or October 7th in our own country. Anyone with sense would be concerned about this, IMO. That is only one concern for the future of our country as things stand now. Am I worried? No, but I certainly do not close my eyes to what is going on around me.

  13. Isn’t Psalms, at least many of the chapters, about worry and anxiety over one’s enemies? In Psalms, fear is turned over to God in prayer. Is it sinful that we sometimes worry over what actions enemies may take against us whether personally or corporately? Thankful we know to do as David did and turn to God in prayer. We have these relentless enemies no matter who wins the election. Their tactics will be different according to who wins the election, but their evil intent keeps people on high alert. It’s easier to kill a baby in the womb than to have to fight that person as a grown soldier as one example of diffrrent tactics.

  14. God is always doing something. Loving our neighbor (who is our neighbor?) calls us to be concerned and respond to the needs of others, regardless of geography, nationality. The ones God puts in front of us.

As for the fate of the nations (including our own), we pray but also know … God is always doing something through it all.

Praying for the purity of the church during what are extremely difficult and divisive times around us.
