It’s Thursday, so please remember to pray for Jo and the people of PNG.
Anyone else have something to share?
Psalm 138
Of David.
1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name
for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
for you have so exalted your solemn decree
that it surpasses your fame.
3 When I called, you answered me;
you greatly emboldened me.
4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
when they hear what you have decreed.
5 May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
for the glory of the Lord is great.
6 Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
though lofty, he sees them from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life.
You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
with your right hand you save me.
8 The Lord will vindicate me;
your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.
Mom has fallen again. Staff found her on the floor between her bed and nightstand. My sister-in-law reports that Mom was almost screaming with back pain by the time EMS got there. SIL is leaving home about now to transport her to the hospital.
Many thanks for your prayers. They are truly uplifting to us.

Thank you for your prayers. Mom’s been admitted to the hospital. I may or may not share at a later time what all happened today. Right now tensions are rising, and quite justifiably for East Coast sister. I am also angry and need wisdom in replying to sister’s group email to all of us siblings a little bit ago. Prayers that we can discuss this with civility. I understand my sister’s complaints, and am hoping my own frustration doesn’t anger the siblings local to Mom. They dropped the communications ball bigtime, IMO. ~6

Praying for peace in your family, 6. These situations often bring out these tensions that can boil over.

i saw this late but offer prayers alongside others here. So sorry to hear of the whole difficult situation 6. Prayers for Mom M to receive good care and for all family members to act reasonably with maturity, compassion, wisdom, and not selfishly. Oh, Lord please ease the stress, the accusations, the unreasonable expections, and the strife between family members. Please help all who have hurt feelings. Please make a good way forward. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

Yes, some of those things can lead to hard feelings that are not easily gotten over. Prayers.

I am grateful for all the prayers for Mom and the family situation. Keep praying for civility in communications. That went out the window today with one of the locals when she fired off an email to us two non-locals. Last word of the email was “crosshairs.” (No, not a reference to her putting East Coast Sister and me in her crosshairs, but accusing us of having figuratively done so to her.) I’m not going to dignify her email with a reply, and ECS hasn’t, either.
Everyone else has kept their cool, thankfully.

My family still has hard feelings about all that, 6. Some are not talking to others. We have only been together for the funeral and then later for a family wedding. At both events we were physically together but not in any real way. It still saddens me. There are so many difficult decisions and, sometimes no really good ones, to make. Then sibling rivalry and or past hurts often surface. I found one person often attributed the worst motives to others which made it all worse. I pray for wisdom from God for you as you wade through these difficult waters.

Some friends I was catching up with recently mentioned family difficulties in the wake of a death and one of them said someone they knew wrote it into their will/trust that if anyone became unreasonable or caused difficulty in terms of the disposition of worldly goods and threatened legal action over it — I can’t remember now how it was phrased but person drawing it up would have helped — they would automatically be eliminated from receiving anything.
Not sure that would work, but an interesting thing to include as this so often happens in these situations that are fraught with emotion and sadly seem to bring out the worst in people. 😦

Of course 6 is in a different situation with a family trying to navigate care options which is no doubt much more complicated — praying for calm and agreeable plan going forward.

DJ, that’s interesting about building an “unreasonable” or “difficult” clause in the will, but, yes, I wonder, too, how that would be put into practice! An unreasonable or difficult person would probably find it unreasonable to be labeled as such, no matter how it was defined. 🙂
Kathaleena, I’m sorry there are tensions in your family, with some who aren’t speaking to each other. My dad always lamented that type of situation in families of some of his acquaintances, and frequently expressed how glad he was that our family didn’t experience that. But there was a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff of which he wasn’t aware that involved quite a bit of tension and a sort-of-kind-of not speaking to each other for a while. The relative I mentioned in my previous post has a history of the sort of behavior she displayed yesterday in the email, but it was still a little baffling how she got so upset. Neither ECS nor I had made any statement specifically to her, except to thank her for helping Mom! It was apparently the general statements ECS made to the whole group about suggestions on how to improve family communication in a crisis that made this one relative feel like we were targeting her personally. I’m not really sure what I said that triggered her animosity toward me, too, but she said she knew ECS and I would blame her. ??
But for good news now, Mom got moved out of ICU to a regular room today. I visited her and she’s doing much better. It sounds like tomorrow she’ll go somewhere different for rehab, and then later return to her regular assisted living facility. They can’t take her back right away anyway; pipes burst and there’s flooding in her room that will take 3 days to clean up and make it habitable again.
Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that she was in the hospital when that happened! Part of her roof collapsed, I guess.
Always something! Thank you for praying. ❤

I just accept that things are forever here on earth going to be difficult trying to be in relationship with my brother. We are on and off. Right now we are off. I don’t want it to be this way, but he blames me for anything he can. He never blames the guys in the family who would be as guilty of what I am blamed for. I now accept that he has faulty thinking and hope he makes it to heaven where we all will have corrections made yo imperfectly working bodies and minds to make us right as God had intended.

Yeah, the unreasonable one would probably say, “I’m not unreasonable. You’re unreasonable!” :-)

That is a good way to look at it, Janice. We are certainly works in progress.

Seems like the provision (for the will) may have centered around anyone who was going to take legal action of some kind.
So glad to hear things are better with your mom, 6. And yikes regarding that flood, that could have been dangerous.
Janice, so sorry re the off-and-on relationship with your brother, life can be (well, it often is) hard.

Thankful for the opportunity to pray for a brother in Christ, Texas QB Stroud, after NBC brought him to my attention by censoring his words of gratitude.

twenty two came into church this morning after we delivered her groceries. She wanted to express her disgust with what husband had purchased. She left and came back during prayer requests. She requested we pray that I would die. The guy up front told her she was welcome to stay and worship with us but any more of that talk and we would have to tell her to leave. She left after returning the groceries except the olive oil she drank. Pray for daughter.

Still praying for so many needs mentioned here. Any updates?
Tax season is here. Please pray for all to go well for Art. Retirement would be nice, but he never speaks of it.
Please pray I can get back to a daily PT workout and relief from the eczema which is not terrible, just bothersome.

Giving thanks to God that my mom is out of the hospital and the following temporary placement in a nursing home for rehab. She has returned to her assisted living residence now.
Prayers requested for her: 1) that there won’t be mold issues after the broken pipe water seepage that affected her room, and 2) that nothing will happen to keep her from attending 3rd Arrow’s baby shower tomorrow. In the last six weeks, she has missed 5th Arrow’s graduation party, Christmas gathering #1, and Christmas gathering #2. She is very much looking forward to the baby shower, and after all she’s been through the last two months, it would be so sweet if she could attend tomorrow. All in God’s will, of course.
Many thanks.

All went well today, and my mom had a lovely time at the baby shower. I have nice pictures of her beaming as she stands next to the parents-to-be, and she couldn’t stop talking on the way home about how cute their (new-to-them) house is.
A beautiful day. Thank you for praying for this blessing Mom (and all of us) received this day. It means so much.
