My ride gets here in about 45 minutes for the trek over to the surgery center for the cataract (last one, yay!) procedure. I had the alarm set for 5 a.m. but by 4 a.m. decided I’d just get up anyway to give myself some more time, I still had to take a shower.
Does anyone lusten to Christian radio stations anymore, either talk or music? I have a friend who always tells me of various programs she’s listened to (she does not have a tv). I have the car radio set on a Christian music station that I listen to while driving to PT.
I agree with Janice about the “chocolate” flowers. Off to the right there is one, and just above in the photo is one that started to open. It has the same leaf pattern.
I don’t listen to Christian music radio anymore. I worked at one in the 70s, but now the music stations are too secular sounding in my opinion, at least the one around here. Occasionally when traveling I’ll find a K-LOVE station. Our minivan has a hard drive so I loaded it with 400+ songs from downloads and CDs, and I made mp3s of some older records and cassette tapes.
Last Christmas a friend asked me for my ren favorite Christian songs so I rounded up video links of them for her. She was going to do a long playlist of all her fridnds favorites. I thought that was neat.
Good morning, all. A beautiful sunshine day here with lots of frost still on the ground. Snow was in the forecast for a couple of days from now but it has changed to sunshine.
Cosmos. Ours are also frozen. So easy to grow and I love the color. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow.
I fixed my oven this morning. It has not been keeping the pilot light lit. I ordered a new part for it. Took it all apart this morning, and found some ash was blocking the orfice where the gas comes out. Cleaned out and now working well. I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
Cataract surgery done, I was the first person in the waiting room this morning (last time it was packed). A few others came in after that but I was probably the first or second gurney to be wheeled in for the surgery.
Good thing I brought jacket, I was out earlier than expected to had to what in that feeling surgery center for about 30 minutes until my ride to get there to take me home.
I used to listen to KBRT (AM) and KFSG (FM) in LA back in the 70’s for Christian music. These days I occasionally listen to a conservative commentator’s midday news/talk show on a Detroit station, but for the most part the music doesn’t appeal to me much.
Subjectively I feel like the music isn’t as good as it used to be, but that might just be an aging thing. It seems like every generation likes the music of their youth better than that of their kids.
(The same goes for the contemporary worship music in my church, which I don’t like as much as the contemporary music of the 80s.)
QOD: I used to listen to KMBI when I exercised but have not had time for that in ages. I tried listening to the message but could not understand the words so when I am driving it is just me singing:
I Wait for the Lord, My Soul Waits
Unto Thee, Oh Lord
Great is the Lord
Etc.
I listen to K-love and Family life radio. Music is not that great, but have a hard time tolerating other stations. When I was traveling to Roswell for school, they had a Christian station which was mainly teaching. I enjoyed that. I guess that is the main thing for me that has changed with Christian radio, mostly music and very little preaching.
I’m trying to get the big purple X wiped off my forehead, right above the left eye to let the surgeon know what’s what. That ink is pretty permanent. -dj
I still have some wonderful Christian cd’s. Today I was listening to an hour of Dave Talbot on the piano playing hymns. lovely
My daughter programmed Pandora on my phone years ago. It is wonderful as it is all hymns. She put in John Michael Talbot and Fernando Ortega, then it adds some others.

I bought some persimmons at the store today and cut one up tonight to eat. I could feel my gums going numb and a bit of my lips, too. So I seem to have a allergic reaction. Not too bad. I decided to drink milk and then had some plain bread. It is subsiding now. I had persimmons two weeks ago and was fine. One article mentioned peeling. The ones I had two weeks ago were from a local orchard. Perhaps a different variety.

Does anyone know what those other flowery looking plants are?
The ones that look like they have a piece of chocolate on the top. I don’t think I’ve ever seen those before.

Aj, I may be mistaken, but I think those are the unopened bud heads of the pink flowers!😀

It will be almost hot here, up in the 80s.

So sorry about the frozen flowers. We’re still eating strawberries right off the plant out here . . . for a few more days.
They’ve been going strong since April!
(Poor plants must be exhausted! Except, they’re sending out runner babies, so who knows?)
The weather is beautiful, though chilly in the morning (as I wear my sweater inside!)

I used to listen to KKLA in the car, seems like that was a fairly new Christian FM station that launched around 1980?
Now I’ll occasionally listen to RefNet which is a Ligonier app/station, there’s some good preaching and music (more classical Christian music).

RefNet also offers just Bible reading segments.
So there is a debate tonight, I think starting in a few minutes.

Closing the debate now. It has been a good listen with only five on stage.

I listen to Christian radio everyday while doing certain things.
I love the cosmos. So pretty. I have had it, but not for a while. Fresh strawberries sound wonderful.
