  1. Good morning, all. It is a beautiful rain covered day this morning.

My dad has been up since midnight. I checked on him a few times, reading the family history book he wrote. This morning he asked where we all went as nobody had mentioned we were leaving to him.

  2. Went shopping with a friend yesterday. When I got to her house, she couldn’t open the gate. A neighbor had shut it. Anyway both of us working with hammers got the chain unstuck right before her daughter arrived.

I got a new iPhone. Took over half an hour to transfer data from my old phone.
We even found a Hobby Lobby. I got a four foot Christmas tree with lights that was half off. And a sign that says In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.

  4. I keep meaning to go to the Hobby Lobby that opened up in our area, in a neighboring city. It’s been there for probably 3 or more years now and every time I drive by I say, Oh, yeah, I should go there. I’ve never been to one.

Honestly, the pandemic pushed a lot of us even further into online shopping (only, except for groceries and those kinds of necessities). I feels like a lifetime ago that I’d head over to Home Goods or Target or another store just to browse the aisles. Haven’t been to any of those places in years now, either.

So today it’s off to the DMV. I am taking the day off work but I’m hoping it won’t that *that* long. But I have no appointment (none was available online) so I’ll have to do the stand-in-line thing.

If you flunk the written test they let you take it two more times, so I’m thinking I should be able to pass somehow … I think I’ve worried about that mostly needlessly, but we’ll see. haha.

Hope AJ’s visit with the other med center goes well today and will offer some other options as well as answer more questions.

  5. It was 32° earlier and has gone up to 55°. Love this balmy weather with a short sleeve t-shirt covered by a long sleeve shirt covered by a down vest.

I have been fasting and praying for Israel since 6 p.m. yesterday. Time to break fast. I wish I could say I have been solely dedicated to prayer, but each time I thought of food, I’d ask myself if I would choose to pray or to induldge in food if I believed it really would make a difference in helping Israel, and I was faithful not to have a bite. God strengthened me because I did not even have juice as I usually do when fasting.

  7. We went to Fox Chase this morning. Got some questions answered, a loose time frame, and more details.

We’re even more convinced with which will be our choice at this point. For a variety of reasons we’re leaning hard toward going with the surgery done locally which will not require more surgeries in the coming years, or travel to Philly for follow up appts and follow up surgeries. The first option won’t require additional surgeries, unless something unexpectedly goes wrong.

  8. AJ, praying for wisdom and healing.

Sigh. Hobby Lobby. Somewhere that I have never been, but want to go. I think the closest Hobby Lobby to me is in Great Falls, Montana.

  9. Kare, we’ll have to meet up in Montana for a joint first-time Hobby Lobby visit.

AJ, sounds like a somewhat clear decision based on those factors. Information is always good, the more of it the better, whether for medical procedures or house repairs.

I wound up getting a 60-day extension for my drivers’ license (because I still need my birth certificate copy to arrive for switching to the RealID license and because I’m in between cataract surgeries; I passed the vision test but kind of dicey on a couple letters).

So I paid the fee, got my pic taken and the temp license certification, will take the test when I go back for the permanent renewal.

Ran into major/unusual traffic coming home with a very large biker funeral going on at the Catholic Church a few blocks away.

  10. Glad you got sound advice for decision mak8ng, AJ. By being well informed you save yourself from second guessing later. There are always risks with additional surgeries. That is a big reason I did not want to do the reconstructive surgery. God is good to give so many avenues for knowledge.

I have been to Hobby Lobby maybe five times ay most. I tend to feel lost in such massive stores, moreso now with the vision problems. I have shopped in Michael’s, an arts and crafts store, many times. It has a very liberal type management that makes me wish I liked the big box Hobby Lobby stores more.

  12. Janice, Michael’s is where we get husband’s art supplies – there’s usually a 40% off coupon online somewhere so it’s more affordable then, but regular prices are pretty high up here.

DJ, after Hobby Lobby a detour over to Mumsee’s might be in order!
