  1. Jo is so generous to dj. I would be glad to share our mosquitoes with both of you, if it weren’t so difficult to ship them. 😉 This is such a beautiful time of year and without mosquitoes for the most part.

I enjoy seeing that bird in the photo.

  2. Morning!
Sitting in the waiting area of the imaging center and thinking of all those hours spent by Janice in this situation!
Was to be here by 8 for mammogram but now am told no mammogram but a diagnostic ultra sound…which cannot be done until 9! Massive miscommunication and a tad bit annoying….🥴

The post button says log in optional… hmmmm…NJ

  3. A monocle! That’s what I need.

Lens is missing because eye doctor office popped it out. Operated-on eye is very good now, does not need my strong glasses; but other eye, awaiting its cure, still does (need the glasses).

    It’s complicated.

  4. Dj says that I owe her. Well there is a very nice bedroom downstairs with it’s own bathroom. Come anytime and enjoy. The pool is open for another month. Very quiet and peaceful here. I will even take you to Tahoe and get fresh roasted coffee.

So funny that there is now nowhere to put your name. But you are all invited, the bed is king size

  5. From kare2012 – NJ, I usually get the mammogram then the u/s. But this last time, they said no u/s needed. Have no idea if that’s because I’m older and they don’t care anymore or if it’s just what this province chooses to cover or…

  6. Husband is off to Ottawa to participate in the National Peace Officer Memorial march and service. He was invited by his ‘supreme’ boss due to his work ethic and years of service. We spent last night sewing on his chevrons and stars and handgun insignia. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute!!

Then this morning as he was ready to go out the door, he realized he hadn’t packed the tie that goes with his dress uniform. We looked and looked and it was nowhere to be found. He just had it when he took the uniform in to be tailored a couple of weeks ago. Sigh. Thankfully, he will be able to borrow one from someone in Ottawa that goes with his uniform. He’s also getting a new Sam Brown as his old one wouldn’t expand anymore. Isn’t aging fun?

  7. Husband is off to Ottawa to participate in the National Peace Officer Memorial march and service. He was invited this year by the agency’s top guy for his work ethic and years of service.

We spent last night sewing on all his stars, chevrons and other insignia – nothing like leaving it to the last minute. He’s going to be spending tomorrow sitting in his hotel room finishing up.

Then the tailor called letting him know that his blue uniform braid (I forget the proper name) had fallen off and he still had it. At least Tim could pick it up on his way to the airport this morning.

  8. Done and now home…everything looks “normal” with the exception of the two “most likely “ benign areas. And she hurt me!!!! Last year the tech was wonderful… this year the gal was detached and smoosh happy!!!! I will request someone else in the future… 😣 Ultra sound tech was wonderful and compassionate…her assessment is I am fearfully and wonderfully made…but a tad bit on the weird side😂

  10. Interesting Alcorn piece. I was especially interested as Jesse Johnson is the pastor of the church son in Virginia attends and I watch with my dad every Sunday morning. My grandson is in kindergarten in that church.

  11. I got a bow-and-arrow set when I was very young, we set it up on my grandfather’s old wooden front porch in Iowa but I wound up (seriously) stubbing my toe while running up and down to retrieve the suction-cup arrows from the trarget.

Better than shooting an eye out, though.

  12. I had at cap gun too. I was a well-armed kid.

Crazy busy day today, 3 stories to write (one more left), chasing down how to credit a development illustration we’re using before I can turn in one of the other stories.

Eye is doing well, mostly healed, doctor said, just a little inflammation & swelling left that’s normal just a week after surgery.

Next eye is set for Oct. 13.

It really is amazing how much better I can see out of just the one eye that’s “fixed.” Incredible. Worth all of it.

  13. (because that new lens they put in also fixes astigmatism, to a large degree anyway, and that’s been one of my big eyesight issues; new glasses will be so much easier and ‘weaker’ going forward, yay.) -dj

  14. @11:40, quiet and peaceful sound lovely.

    And no mosquitos?

@9:04, I like that idea, popping the both lenses out but still wearing the frames.

It’s getting dark so fast now, I need to adjust Abby’s walk time. We did have play time tonight, but it was long work day the walk didn’t happen.

Refrigerator repair guy comes tomorrow morning to put in a “new (computer) board” which he says will keep things from icing up all the time and get that main compartment temperature-controlled again.
