  1. Good morning, Wanderers! Let the weekend begin.

I walked in the driveway after dark yesterday to the vibrating sound of cicadas and a view of the moon rising behind Georgia pines. It was truly a “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” kind of evening, steamy.

Thankful all went smoothly at the Fulton County Jail with the diversionary tactics regarding the route. The news yesterday talked of closing off the PDK airport area, and arrival was at Hartsfield. And then a different entrance at the jail was used for booking. Thankful for God’s protection from things of which we will never be aware.

  2. “Partly cloudy and 75” here today. I have a vacation day since I was “capping out” on my vacay time (and when that happens you stop accruing any more vacation hours, never want that to happen!).

  3. Twenty two contacted me last night that she was hungry and wanted food and meds. I reminded her that, as she had not met with me in weeks when I brought her groceries on friday morning, I had changed to only coming in once a week, Sunday. Our church meets directly across the street from her home and puts me there three hours later than the Friday deliveries. And I had adjusted the food and meds accordingly. But she had eaten it all. So I contacted my contacts at the hotel and arranged for payment and ordered dinners for her four days a week and Sunday brunch. I alerted her to the waiting meal but she did not go get it and said she missed my texts. She never misses texts.

  4. On Wednesday I thought about going to visit a friend in an assisted living place. The place is 1 1/2 hours away and I haven’t seen her in years. I got no response when I called. About 2pm I strongly felt that I was supposed to go so I went. It was difficult to find as my phone did not want to help. Time to get a new phone or upgrade.
I did find it and wandered around and asked questions. It does look nice. I found her room and knocked and knocked, but no answer. An older fellow walking by said that it was dinner time and she was probably at dinner. So I went downstairs and waited around, but didn’t find her. I mentioned her name to someone. And they knew her. I wanted to make sure that we were talking about the same person and they said, “There is only one Georgina.”
That was so encouraging and it told me that she hasn’t changed. The friend said that they hadn’t seen her for a couple of weeks and thought that she was in the hospital due to back pain. That was all of the information that I could get, but I am praying.
I called her daughter again, but no response.

  5. On the way home, I stopped at Costco. So this is a story.

Oftentimes when I get out of my laze boy recliner, I am hunched over and it takes me a few steps to be able to straighten up. I had decided that that chair was not good for me and was thinking of getting another chair. Two weeks ago I saw and tried out a leather recliner at Costco. It was 1000 dollars. Actually I had looked at one in town here that was over 3000, so the 1000 seemed reasonable.
So when I went to Costco I was going to check and decide. I prayed on the way in about perhaps seeing a lower price. I went right to where the chair was and tried it out again. Then I looked at the tag and it said 750. It was the last one. I mentioned it to the guy relaxing on the couch next to me and he told me to stay there and he would find someone. They came and then got someone else who brought a flat cart. He said he would leave it up front with a note that I was shopping. Amazing. All the employees were also amazed, I don’t think that they had seen that much of a price drop.

When I found the box after shopping there was another box on top, so I lifted it off and said something to the guy checking some other boxes. Turns out that he worked that and he took such good care of me. He went with someone else and got the tag to verify the price. Then he said that he would go through the line with me to make sure that I was correctly charged. It didn’t come up right but they got a manager to approve.
Even the fellows who loaded it in my car were so nice. A little squished in there but it worked.

However the box weighed 100 pounds. I got creative in bringing it in. I opened the box while it was in the car and brought the foot stool and the support in. Good thing that I have a ramp onto my deck. I got it shoved all the way in yesterday and then this morning got it put together.

God is good. Was the chair part of the reason I felt so strongly that God wanted me to go on that trip right then???

  6. Congratulations and blessings, both on the chair and on your follow-through with your friend, Jo.

btw, if you ever need a knee replacement, that recliner will be helpful (according to things I read, I don’t have one here, but my surgery wasn’t as extreme as others, no joint replacement, so I did alright with what I had).

  7. I’m already thinking ahead on the cataract surgery, plotting how to get the dog food bins elevated (you apparently aren’t supposed to bend over for several days afterward), etc.

  8. Peter report!! (Carrying on in the tradition of Chas!!)

It has been that sort of fake rain around here…misty and moist but no real rain drops!! The kind of day you have the lamps on during the day, music playing, coffee and book in hand…

  9. We are having real rain here today. It is only 71 degrees right now, but with 95% humidity.

Last evening, I had messaged DJ, “I HATE HUMIDITY!!!” It had been a coolish day, and at the time was down to 62 degrees and rainy, and I was sweating a little and uncomfortable from the high humidity. So I had finally decided that it was time to close the windows and put the AC on.

Since then, I have not opened the windows again, and ran the AC for a short while this morning to deal with the humidity that had built up a bit inside overnight. I suspect that I will have it on again sometime late this afternoon or early this evening.

This cool, overcast day is reminding me of fall, but I am still being good and not getting into the Pumpkin Spice K-cups yet, although I was sorely tempted earlier. 🙂 But I am determined to wait until either September 1, or maybe even Labor Day.

  10. It’s really hot out now! I went to PT and this time the other patient was packing more weight than I could handle. She did 5 lb. and I had 3 or 4 lbs.

The valet person left a small stack of their tickets on my car that I found in the grocery parking lot. I think I need to call and report it because someone will be out of balance in their tickets. Can’t get away from being trained as an accountant.

I found some BoBo oat bites to carry to church for Sunday morning as an alternative to other goodies. They are plant-based, gluten-free, and vegan so if people need that with their coffee, they will have something. I tried one of the apple pie oat bites and it was good. They look like mini- muffins. The boxes of BoBo snacks were BoGo deals at Publix I also bought some coffee for the group.

  11. My friends daughter called me! She talked for over 40 minutes. She mentioned me to her mom and her mom remembered me.
She moved her mom to another place as she had gotten noro virus twice at that place.

  12. I had a friend who was at a laundromat with her daughter and granddaughter who is around 6, I believe. My friend left before the others and as she was walking out the door she passed a lady with an armful of rugs. She was wondering why she was washing them as they seemed brand new and certainly not dirty. Later her daughter told her that she talked to the daughter and granddaughter and then told them she would pay the granddaughter a dollar to help bring them to her car. The mom said she would not allow that but would be glad to help her. The woman kept insisting she wanted the granddaughter to help her. Finally, when she was refused several times, she left. The mom talked to an attendant who was in her office. The attendant told her that she had offered to help the woman earlier. She was checking to see if the camera caught the women’s license plate and was going to report it to the police. Sad that a person has to be so careful these days.
