  1. This was June of 2021 in Louisiana and a friend’s lake house. I think they called that fish a croppy. It was the first (and only) fish I caught that day on my first ever time fishing.

  2. Our humidity is high right now. I am already mourning how fast our summer will go. June already! Oh, the beauty of summer!

Crappies are so fun to fish, especially for small children. They are good eating, too, but you need many to make a meal.

We have never fished a lot. We were fair-weather fishermen. We never did buy our own boat. Most people around here seem to have one, since we have so many lakes to enjoy. It has been many years since we have fished. In fact, our friend who we went with has passed away. That is one of the sad things about growing old. Thankfully, we know we will see him again.

We had a high tourist area actually run out of gas. A couple who came up for a couple of days were disparately looking for gas. They only saw bags tied on all the gas pump handles and were told there was no gas in the closest three towns. Apparently, the refineries were changing to the summer gas whatever and there was some trouble getting back up and running. Imagine, if they had waited until they were on empty! Fortunately, they were able to drive the ninety miles to find the gas they needed.

  3. Goal for the day is to get the weed eater together and to actually use it. Not something I have done before. The one I bought is battery powered so should be easier. I think it is so funny to look at my small yard. All of the neighbors have had someone trim theirs so it is quite clear which part is mine.

  4. Weed eaters are scary. An ex-boyfriend once was helping me out with an overgrown yard at a former rental residence some years ago and he was terrified of the thing. Could take a hand off.

  5. Kathaleena is already mourning how fast summer will go, and I am already looking forward to fall! 😀

As of yet, we have not had hot, humid weather, although we usually have some of that in May. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be up into the high 80s, low 90s, but I think/hope the humidity will be on the lower side. Then the temps will dip 30 degrees and we will have some cooler weather again for a week or so.

So right now, I really can’t complain about the weather. Hoping it stays that way! 🙂

  6. We’re still in the 60s with thick banks of marine-layer fog rolling in daily. Nice.

Those days were frustrating when we were kids and teens and aching to get to the beach by May or June, of course.

But I don’t mind them now, that’s for sure.

  7. Are you home, Mumsee?

I just got home from PT it was all exercise and stretching out my shoulder. I think it would be a frozen shoulder if I neglected the daily exercise. I asked the PT lady about that and she said yes, but over time it should get more back to normal, like in eighteen months after radiation. I am now four months out.

  8. My mom had a frozen shoulder (or something very like that) after recovering from breaking her shoulder in a fall. (Which happened shortly after she had recovered from breaking her ankle. You can imagine how upset she was.) It was her left shoulder, and Mom was left-handed. With the frozen shoulder, she could only raise her arm about shoulder-high.

Her doctor said that it could be fixed, but the surgery would involve re-breaking her shoulder. Mom decided to just live with things the way they were.

  9. About 5 minutes long

We should lament and weep over how we as a culture have turned from God; and pray for wisdom, humility and courage. Being bold and loving are not contradictory.

  10. Crappie is pronounced, croppy. I have no idea why.

I had frozen shoulder in both my shoulders, but years apart. I still have a small amount of range lost on the right side, but nothing that bothers me. I did have a lot of pain with both at first and then just could not raise my arm at all. The treatment for it changed from the first one to the second. I did nothing for the second one and it eventually healed. However, it took a couple of years. I hope you can avoid it, Janice.

  11. Kizzie, I can’t bear the heat either. I am just enjoying the beauty of the green and the flowers and the lack of real cold. We have had unseasonably hot weather right now. So far, I have managed to keep the house relatively cool. A fan helps when it does get hot. Opening the windows at night and closing when it gets hot, works well for our house. It won’t if there are too many hot nights in a row, however.

  12. We had a rainy scary looking clouds kind of day around here but the sun did make an appearance for short periods of time.
My dear friend called as I was leaving the grocery and needed to talk. Went home to put groceries away, fed the dog, put fresh nectar in the hummingbird feeder and took off to meet her at her home.
While at my friend’s home we stood out on her back porch. She has a straight shot view of the stadium on the Air Force Academy. We watched the Thunderbirds flyover as the cadets graduated. As we watched the jets overhead we listened to detect which way they would be approaching to make their next pass. Lo and behold as I stood on the open patio portion of her porch I looked up and there they were….four in formation flying right over her home! I do believe I could have seen the colors of their eyes had I not been so shocked by their sudden appearance! We laughed and laughed. The pilots then turned on their after burners which caused enough booming to rattle your teeth! What a great day! 😊

  13. Oh, fun! I’ve been watching them on instagram

By the way, I can’t figure out how to post on instagram. When I go to my photos it doesn’t come up as one of the choices for sharing photos. Janice, how do you do it
