Psalm 53

A maskil of David.

¹The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.

²God looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.
³Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one.

⁴Do all these evildoers know nothing?

They devour my people as though eating bread;
    they never call on God.
⁵But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
    where there was nothing to dread.
God scattered the bones of those who attacked you;
    you put them to shame, for God despised them.

⁶Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Just thanking God for hearing our prayers.

I received an upsetting prayer chain email last night, my church elder has been diagnosed with colon cancer; they’re going to be seeing a surgeon for a consultation.

No other details yet, other than he wrote that he is “thankful to my Heavenly Father for his wise providence. I am also confident this situation is for his glory and my good, and that God’s grace will be sufficient as it is needed.”

I and the others under his oversight care within the church have been blessed by his faithful prayers, frequent check-ins with us and his example of a calm and steady faith.

He’s an engineer, just recently retired, his wife (an RN) just retired as well.

Please pray this is treatable, and for wisdom and peace as they go through this. Thank you.
