Prayer Requests 3-24-22

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 56

Be merciful to me, my God,
    for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
    all day long they press their attack.
My adversaries pursue me all day long;
    in their pride many are attacking me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
 In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?

All day long they twist my words;
    all their schemes are for my ruin.
They conspire, they lurk,
    they watch my steps,
    hoping to take my life.
Because of their wickedness do not let them escape;
    in your anger, God, bring the nations down.

Record my misery;
    list my tears on your scroll—
    are they not in your record?
Then my enemies will turn back
    when I call for help.
    By this I will know that God is for me.

10 In God, whose word I praise,
    in the Lord, whose word I praise—
11 in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can man do to me?

12 I am under vows to you, my God;
    I will present my thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered me from death
    and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God
    in the light of life.

  1. In keeping with the conversation from yesterday: Many years ago, we went through the question of whether it was spiritual, emotional and/or biochemical issues affecting our relative. We had prayer, even in groups of people for him and did suggest spiritual weapons that we all need. It was all beneficial. However, he also, clearly, had bio-chemical issues and that was helped by medication. Those are a challenge throughout one’s life, because the body can adapt and cause necessary changes. Also, needs change as we age. Plus, now he is at an age when dementia can be an issue, so that taking the drugs can become forgotten or sporadic etc.

    Emotional immaturity can also be an issue. Having to take these drugs does affect sleeping and thinking clearly, too, and that can affect how one matures. The mentally ill can certainly be as selfish as we all can be. Just like with a disabled child, you want to not give in to plain selfishness, but not expect what cannot be given. It is a strange dance to perform.

    There are things he has said that has led us to wonder if there were not people at his small church making suggestions. I would want to know for sure before concluding that is happening, however. I was in church with a woman who was bi-polar who had a husband insisting she didn’t need her medications, but prayer etc. I told her that we do not tell diabetics that. It can be very demoralizing and even deadly to hear things like that. As mumsee often says, people mean well, but often just don’t understand.

    Pray a good facility is found for him for however long he needs one. They will not send him to a regular assisted living place right now. Also, pray for his peace and cooperation as it is needed. I am glad to hear that mumsee’s family member had that when needed. It is a big deal.

  2. Very well said, Kathaleena.

    The reason I have wondered about demon possession for daughter is because she openly invited it. I don’t know if demons respond to invitations. Nor do I think they can possess if the Holy Spirit is indwelling. I do believe they can oppress. Attack from the outside.

    I do not know where daughter stands in relation to God. But when she is of sort of sound mind, she is quite interested in God and learning about Him and reading the Word. When she is off, most of the time, she is interested in evil.

    Prayer that she will find believing friends who will teach her that being on God’s side is not just for old people.

  3. Several in son’s community have strep or another illness. He has something but tested negative for Covid. He has not yet gotten his strep test. Please pray the teaching staff can get well because it’s not too many weeks before finals. Thank you.
